This man is an absolute legend. I cannot equivocally express how much Larry has affected music as an art in general, and I don't mean just house. His humility and his artistic prowess is a celebratory combination. Mr. Fingers is an artistic messiah. Big respect from Morocco!
The presenter is very cool. Never seen her before but she's clearly very knowledgable and brilliant I thought. Great interview.. and Larry is very humble Great work
I'm a R&B junkie... I'm here because I was doing some research on Ron Wilson and stumble across a house legendary producer LOVE IT! This truly expand my knowledge in music genres and producer... LOVE IT
Larry Heard, most down to earth phenom, though he might say he isn't. An absolute genius, way ahead of his time. His music is timeless and never dated. From the first moment I heard "Can you feel it" I was hooked and been a fan since 1996 at 10 years old. During period of Dance 2000 (Saga of the evil Queen, Perpetual radiance etc) and Dance 2000 Part 2 (evolution of mind, Gentle Morning Rain 🌦️) put me in a euphoric🌈 state as a11- 12 year old in 1997 and 1998 till this day. Cerebral Hemispheres marks a return of The GOAT after a long hiatus. The raw emotions in" Crying Over You" is my jam. Respek to the legend✊👍✌️.
Larry is organic and comes from a peaceful place..*..he a gem we're lucky his music got out to the masses...cause there's alot of great musicians out there that never pushed to get it out...peace out
For all that DON'T KNOW.... the eatly Euro music i and my friends grooved to was KRAFTWERK , which I'm kinda surprised that they DIDN'T get into here, as another RUclipsr commented , and IT WAS TRUE .... KRAFTWERK TURNED THE GHETTO OUT !!! WEEEE WENT CRAZY FOR CRAFTWERK ..... THANK YOU GERMANY, for giving us that band, I love YOU .....thank you
33:36 - 34:03 I appreciate the curiosity of the host and honest critique of many non-paying people stateside who talk, talk, talk and don't buy music. Playing the whole Fingers Inc. - Another Side album now. Thx for pairing up these two for this interview Red Bull Music Academy.
26:26 Can totally relate to this sentiment. "Make the person eat crow." Transported to Madrid a fun hang I had with friends from Sweden right there. Underdogs unite.
The reason a lot of DANCE music got played on major radio in the U.S .... (and I'm not tryna get into The CHICAGO or NEW YORK thang) but it IS documented that a NYC radio host, FRANKIE CROCKER" ,who used to party at PARADISE GARAGE and would play the music he heard at the club. And it took off. Not all dance music but a lot of the CORE stuff.
my favorite group all time they came to Toronto twice when I was young on both occasions on the way there to see them we had flat tires . each time Around that time I changed my religion
Why in the world are you not playing the tracks when the artist is sitting right there being interviewed? There shouldn't be any copyright concerns etc if he's sitting right there. I don't get it but, good interview
There's another House Legendary producer who was THERE that night and he said most of the records that the people brought were just R&B records, he says they were just BLACK ARTIST .
Why would you publish an interview between two people and not even bother saying who the interviewer is in the video description? She is half of the whole.
I'm sorry i keep commenting but .... the INDUSTRY will use ... WHATEVER they can ... to make a DOLLAR , after awhile the INDUSTRY started using HOUSE to promote they're music, like HIP HOUSE and then R&B producers turned to House to promote , theres a few SADE tracks that got the HOUSE treatment, theres too too much to list here but at a certain point ...like the early 90s ... you started hearing ALLLLL TYPES of R&B type House tracks, almost any artist you could think of has a " REMIX" as it became know as.
it is half true... he just re-recorded it again. the tape version came on vinyl too (I guess on his own label) and it was before the official release on DJ International, you maybe are talking about..
I really don't believe it to be honest. Any producer no matter how their level might be can tell that it is impossible to record your VERY FIRST TRACK into a cassette tape, then go on vinyl and sound that well.... Even having a MASTER of mastering ingenier. The arraignment (live), levels, try and error mistakes.... mmmm no way.
He had been making and playing music for years at that point though. It's not like that the EP is literally the first time he ever touched a musical instrument.

Makes a change having someone who is genuinely interested in the art form. Found out a lot more about him even though been a big fan since the 80s.
I'm a R&B junkie... I'm here because I was doing some research on Ron Wilson and stumble across a house legendary producer LOVE IT! This truly expand my knowledge in music genres and producer... LOVE IT
This interviewer impressed me, she knew her stuff.
You're right. This interview's way better than the other RBMA one from 2005, I think.
shoutout to la club resource and L.I.E.S.
it's a pleasure to see a charming and intelligent man behind the tracks you love. No coincidence though
Mr Fingers and Robert Owens coming together was the best thing ever to happen to House Music and they remain my most favorite musicians to date.
Such a gentleman, he's the best. We love you Larry, thanks for your music and your awesomeness ❤️

this is amazing Larry Heard is so great to listen to, so laid back
I appreciate these interviews because the story of Chicago House and the Innovators needs to be recorded. Great Interview.
really great to hear him speak!
He put the deep in house music ,gotta love Chicago's house music
Cerebral Hemispheres album is a true piece of art. So eclectic and elegant.
Larry is organic and comes from a peaceful place..*..he a gem we're lucky his music got out to the masses...cause there's alot of great musicians out there that never pushed to get it out...peace out

Seems like such a gentleman!
Love him!! So much good tracks to be inspirational in future!!!!
26:26 Can totally relate to this sentiment. "Make the person eat crow." Transported to Madrid a fun hang I had with friends from Sweden right there. Underdogs unite.

Er, um, are you forgetting about WKTU? KISS-FM with Shep Pettibone and Tony Humphries?
Long live Larry Heard
Who’s the presenter? Excellent interview!
I got goosebumps. Followed Larrys work from my youth, and had many orgasmic experiences with his music. Drugs and without.
Mr Fingers - Can You Feel It
Legend!!
my favorite group all time they came to Toronto twice when I was young on both occasions on the way there to see them we had flat tires .
each time
Around that time I changed my religion
Hm, a pattern.
Wow, just wow
Amazing Person and artist ❤
Crazy how Chicago made house and Detroit invented techno
Strange they both say Fingers Inc Another Side wasn't released in the USA. I bought the double cassette in 1988 from Buy-rite records in Detroit.
Was it a UK Jack Trax Import?
@@househead88 Correct.
44:26 - Thanks for not showing up David.
Mr'Fingers Thank you for all the great great trax '
Why in the world are you not playing the tracks when the artist is sitting right there being interviewed? There shouldn't be any copyright concerns etc if he's sitting right there. I don't get it but, good interview
Ill be your friend ❤
THE MAN.
Mr Fingers!
What’s up Eli.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why the fuck does Red Bull always cut out the fucking music parts?! Leave it in!!!
Licensing.
They used to include the music but they went back and removed it from their interviews.
There's another House Legendary producer who was THERE that night and he said most of the records that the people brought were just R&B records, he says they were just BLACK ARTIST .
Why would you publish an interview between two people and not even bother saying who the interviewer is in the video description? She is half of the whole.
The host is Chal Ravens.
It wasn't that deep
@@RBMA why do you never write that in the description of the video?
Really?
💘
Channel / college about music, that never plays any?
The music was played but removed for copyright reasons.
I'm sorry i keep commenting but .... the INDUSTRY will use ... Interesting to hear how intelligent these house music producers sound compared to the whole hip hop crowd.
it is kind of weird, recording his first track in his hole life, into cassette and ended in vinyl sounding so well..... makes me wonder if it is true.
it is half true... he just re-recorded it again. the tape version came on vinyl too (I guess on his own label) and it was before the official release on DJ International, you maybe are talking about..

tasss550 he has no reason to lie. a lot of early House records were pressed from cassette masters.
There are unlimited reasons to lie.
He had been making and playing music for years at that point though. It's not like that the EP is literally the first time he ever touched a musical instrument.
In MUSIC .... if they CAN'T CONTROL IT .... then they will DESTROY IT
Larry has aged since the last interviews. With the gray hair and his younger voice being gone.
That's what happens to us all.
Can't hear the music
Why the fuck does Red Bull always cut out the fucking music parts?! Leave it in!!!
I think it is because of copyright. If any song is copyrighted all the ad revenue goes to the publisher of any songs in the video.
They used to include the music but went back and removed it from all of their interviews.
