2003 Audi A4 1.9tdi 130bhp. Owned for 13 years. Bought at 40k miles now at 208k. Remapped at 90k to 160bhp. Still on original clutch. I refuse to sell this car. Costs me nothing every year to keep on the road nothing has ever gone wrong with it. Shame cars and diesels aren’t made like this anymore.

"Not many people like the look of a Passat" - wtf are you on mate? Passat B5.5 are one of the most timeless designs out there (up there with the e39) - some 17 years later they still look better than a lot of shit put out in the last year.
I've had a few cars with the 1.9 tdi and Calvin isnt wrong, they are good for the miles with maintenance. Great mpg and loads of power and torque. In my opinion the six speed manual (red D, red I in TDI ) 130 is a really good model.
I had one and the engine did 650.000 miles/a little over 1.000.000.000 KM. Then the hydraulic lifters and flywheel and clutch were so worn out i had to change it. So the engine had to be rebuilt. That cost too much so i ditched the car and bought another one with 216.000 KM. 3,5 years later it has 360.000 KM and it's doing great. Things were breaking all the time at this point (suspension arms, cv joints, sensors, thermostat, fuel injector o-rings mostly). But it was still extremely reliable.
I have an 02 plate A4 b6 avant sport AWX 130 pd with 201000 miles ive had it 2 years spent around £300 on bits i needed to replace on it and just put diesel in it i love it.
I've had two of these cars and one of them I bought with no service history so i did a deal with the trader, first thing I did was to change the timing belt and water pump and changed the oil and filters and in the time I had it, I did 25k and sold it on, the second one I bought the engine was not an issue but it was the automatic version, And the gear box went wrong but the engine was rock solid.. If you want to buy one of these cars, i recommend buying one with a manual gear box and your good to go.
Just brought a 2005 Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI PD Elegance fully loaded with 12months mot and 12 months Warranty with 98000 miles and only two owners from new. As new barely a mark on it inside or out. Got Passat tdi pd100 avb engine, got 340 000 km on it, still doing 200km/h and run every day. Service every 10 000km and not a problem. I think the clutch and flywheel are getting a bit worn but nothing bad for more than 300 000km
I have the AVB pd100 in my 2004 Audi A4 too. Currently at 436,100km (271,000 miles) and runs brilliant. Used daily. I think it's on the original clutch too. They are excellent reliability.

I'd rather have a 2.2 Civic. £80 a injector rebuild, usually less if you have all 4 done at once. And only common issues are exhaust manifold split around 100K.
