I wanted Aryna to win because she is been so close a few times and I met her in person at the US open. She was very nice. I was also impressed by Elena so will be rooting for her in the future.

The last game epitomizes how a resilient and mentally strong player Sabalenka has become this year. She always plays a high risk power game, consequently there are resulting faults, unforced errors but now she doesn't choke in critical moments like in the past. She would be scary on all the court surfaces and can have a shot at three remaining GS this year.
For me the two most exciting players in the WTA, who gave us a classic Grand Slam final. Hats off to both ladies, and huge congrats to Aryna for achieving a personal transformation to become a great champion.
This was one final I am sorry not have been able to watch entirely... to have both playing at high level throughout the match, quit rate in women's finals in the last years unfortunately. The world gets a glimpse into the personality and charm that is Sabalenka. Her game is loud, and forceful so we haven't always seen that side of her. Up to this year she was an emotional powder keg and not in a good way. She has matured and worked on her weaknesses. She will forever be a force now.

This is a wonderful moment. The match wasn't great, but it was a grueling fight that Aryna edged out. Her improved serve was a huge factor today. Elena got tight towards the end, but Aryna deserves this win. Congrats to both ladies. Hopefully they will clash again. Elena is a classy lady!
In hindsight, the loss of the 1st set & the way she lost it might have played somehow a positive role for Sabalenka. Long time hanging on within top 10, briefly outside it, climbing up to #2, but always a huge wall in front of her. Self-destructive with a mountain of double fault worsened the situation. Suffered much, weathered & revived. At last in the final, she dealt with the difficult issue well. Warmest congrats!
