SUPER FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful work on this unforgettable Italo Disco classic!!! You really respected the style, like in all your recreations and managed to catch every nuance (which are so important in the music of those years) and make it very very authentic... GREAT JOB, MY DEAR FRIEND :) :) :)
Thanks Kos. Yes all the little twiddly nuances are what makes this track, and its awesome to know you noticed and appreciated them.....but of course you would notice them! It takes one to know one :).
Love it, brilliant once again. Given this was created on Synths such as the Minimoog, OB-8 and ARP I'm always amazed at how well you recreate the sounds. I am now ready for my holiday in Italy next week :)
It's a nice cover of one of the best song from the Italian Music GENIUS PIERLUIGI GIOMBINI... Now please I wait for a cover of LUNATIC and also Masterpiece and I like Chopin. Thanks a lot for your cover ;-)
@@juliancroot I always struggled finding that mod pitch sound on the intro/verse thinking it was just a synth sound but it’s both the mod pitch and piano together so I think I’ve got it now listening to your cover really enjoyed it it’s a great feel good track and has you bopping when you play it 🤣
This was fantastic. I'd like to respectfully request any Vince Clark you feel like playing. Antyhing goes, like Depeche Mode's Speak & Spell, Erasure, Yazoo...
I've done a break down for one of my other covers, but not for Dolce Vita. It doesn't seem that there's much of an audience for that type of content, so as it stands now it's not something I'm planning to repeat.
Very good job! Only note is about the lead: the original OB-8 crispness is on another level. That sound made the song, which climbed the charts notwithstanding the embarassing singer voice.
Hi Paul. I'm not able to get to my studio for a while, so I can only give limited information from memory... perhaps I should make a video about it when I'm able? However, the bass sound in this track I made myself in Retrologue 2. Its basically a couple of square waves with some resonance in the mids. I know its not quite right...I'd change a few things if I was to do it again. The rest of the sounds are (as usual for me) blends of multiple instruments and groups, mostly from Native Instruments FM8 and ReFX Nexus Analogue expansion. Even then I've made some tweaks to the filters, envelopes and effects, so the presets were just a starting point. Unfortunately I'm not likely to be back in the studio for at least a couple of weeks, but I will think about how I can make some videos that break down some of the specific sound design in some of my tracks. Hope that's ok... sorry I can't be more specific at the moment.
very good sound emulation, bravo! Cover itself is also very good. (although there are some chords wrong sounding at some moments, but neglectable) Keep it up.
Such a cheerful tune😄

Do you have a breakdown video for this? One of your other comments suggest you do.

If only I had the space and the money for vintage hardware 😁
@@juliancroot oh don't need to. There is a ton of good virtual instruments doing an outstanding job, pretty sure you know your way into that

Great work, Julian. What is your main keyboard you're using there as a MIDI controller? The 88-key one?
Thank you.
