Sitting in parks at the weekend obsessing over pop stars mostly. Annoying the neighbours with Knock down ginger. Worrying about what colour straw to have with your milkshake. And no mental illness taking over your teenage years.. Yup life was better.
It's September 2022, I'm in my middle 60s, and I'm still rockin' to this great early 80s classic from Ryan Paris, I wonder if Fabio new then what an influential massive hit he had on his hands, this production for TOTPs is a masterpiece.

Wow...was doing my A levels in 83...the introduction to Dolce Vita took me right back there! Did my A levels then we drove down to Spain in my dads Ford Granada for a family holiday on the Costa Brava (Calella de Palafrugel)...singing this song on the way. Ah...yes “The Sweet Life” (la Dolce Vita). Those were the sweet days...never to be repeated! Privileged to have lived through the 80s.

Of all the versions of this song I've heard so far they all seem to be original or mimes of the studio track but this has the best audio by far and there's no way the original TOtP tapes had this quality audio on them.

We travelled by coach, sat just one in from the back seat where this funny group of lads never stopped smoking.........from Northern France to Benidorm.............. We went to Spain the following year: no messing about this time, as we flew to Malaga Airport, to stay in Benalmadena...............THIS IS A CLASSIC HIT!!!!!!!!!

Ryan Paris, he was an Italian, real name Fabio Roscioli (b1953). A one-hit-wonder, this peaked at # 5 in the UK singles chart in September 1983. A catchy tune, one of the best songs from this year. What happened to him ? According to Wikipedia he did not follow up on this success and did not go onto have much of a recording career:
