What he made are not rösti. Rösti are made with parboiled potatoes, not raw. They also do not have any flour nor egg so I believe these might be hashbrowns

Cooking them in a waffle maker is a genius move, awesome!
I tried a recipe like this and it was absolute mush all over my waffle maker.
You have to experiment with your waffle iron they are so flexible

We made them today, delicious! :) made some dip from greek yogurt, lemon juice, garlic and thyme, worked really well together
