    Here is a video about shooting with natural light.
    Do you guys prefer to shoot with ambient or artificial light ? :)
    Cheers,
    Flo

      I can afford natural light right now. I am considering making DIY reflectors and diffusers. buying fabric is pretty affordable and accessible.

      Thanks for the video! Many good tips. It's funny actually when I photograph (I'm mainly a photographer) I tend to use flash light most of the time even outdoors but when doing videos I do prefer natural light because of the type of jobs I do which are outdoors on roofs and the like. To get the equivalent to 500 w flash in continues lighting requires ridiculous amount of watts, it gets impossible if the budget are lower so I tend to compose a face toward darker backgrounds if possible but for sure those blown out skies are sometimes impossible to avoid. But I do have to say that when comparing my photography with flash light to my video with natural light the colors in the mid and lower tones becomes so much cleaner and easier to correct and grade when backing it up with extra light. Yes a few reflectors and thin fabrics can save the shoot. When understanding the basics of light one can create a natural look with lights too.

    I almost always use natural light to shoot interviews. I try to find soft light coming through a window and position the talent at 45 degrees to it, preferably with a darker background in the room. Practicals in the background are often useful. Sometimes you luck out, and the practicals or other windows create a hair light or lower back light to define the head. I like the idea of using reflectors and diffusers, I'll definitely look into this. Great video.

      Thank you :) !! Darker background are the hardest to get if your location doesn't allow you to have one without 'covering' it yourself.

    Hi Flo,
    today is the 09.01.2021.
    I've been watching all your uploads on YT since thursday after I came across a video of yours that inspired me a lot. I must say that your way of filming has been constant over the last 5 years which I find very positive, you can feel the passion between the composition and the music you want to share, it is a pleasure and a joy to watch your content, listen to the perfect chosen music and to meet such wonderful people / artists as you are on YT.
    Again all the best for you two and I’m looking forward to see more content from both of you in 2021 :-)
    Peace
    Frederick

    Hey man, I am struggling to find a microphone for my BMPCC6K. I've just been doing just cinematic tests on my channel but am converting to work on short films and was wondering which microphone to buy. Should I buy the Rode NTG or opt for the Senheiser MKE 600. I'm cutting the budget close on the Senheiser but am looking for one mic to use plugged in straight into the bmpcc6k all the time and even boomed in some occasions. Is the pre-amps good enough on the BMPCC6k for indoor dialogue for the Rode NTG or do you recommend the Senheiser. Thank you for your time and I love your channel and my subscription has no let me down. Cheers!

    • @OfTwoLands
      @OfTwoLands  3 года назад +1

      Thanks !! I love the Sennheiser and use it for interviews on boom as well as directly on the cam. It’s my favourite mic as far as audio goes. Xlr makes a difference but If the budget is a bit tight then get the Videomic NTG, less quality but more versatility since you have a Gain control. I love the NTG videomic for run and fun but use it to do all my VO too :)

      Not sure what you mean. It depends on the subject. 24-25 for non slow Mo and then anything from 50 and up for slow motion.
