    What I enjoy about the Fleeststar is its engine and exhaust sound. This belchy gurgling noise it makes is a treat for my ears. Also, its looks, both outside and inside tha cabin, give off a very pleasing vintage vibe.

    Personally, I find the Fleetstar to be a very dependable workhorse, it's not the best for more specialized tasks, but is an excellent all rounder that can and will do you a solid if you respect her limits, and that's one of the most important things about the Fleetstar in my opinion. If you play dumb, the Fleetstar will punish you repeatedly and unforgivingly, but if you respect the limits the truck has, it will reward you in spades, and I think this is great as this respect can be applied to every vehicle in the game, from the scouts to the heavies, respecting the limits of every vehicle will reward your restraint.
    Another plus is that imo, the truck has a much higher skill ceiling compared to the other trucks due to how adaptable the Fleetstar is. It can manage towing Heavy Trailers effectively, can work as an early game recovery vehicle, and can be a very independent vehicle thanks to having the almighty compact crane, Flatbed / Sideboard / Log Carrier, and trailer combination.
    I also find it to be an excellent "Fat Scout", as its small stock bumper, smooth, round and slightly smaller than average cab, and middle of the road frame length make for an ideal truck to use for just cruising around the map and getting into little nooks and crannies that other trucks can sometimes have trouble with.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  3 года назад +2

      Excellent outlook! You hit the nail on the head. I especially agree that it does indeed have a higher skill ceiling. Overall if you learn how to drive this truck well; your skill as a driver compliments its performance. Great comment!

    • @uberschnilthegreat22
      @uberschnilthegreat22 2 года назад +1

      @@NProvince The Fleetstar's also a great change of pace to a lot of the other trucks, both in its own class and trucks from other classes. As you explained, the Fleetstar lets you slow down and enjoy the map as you go from A-B, and sometimes C.
      I also think the peculiar performance of the Fleetstar, and it being selected as a truck in the game at all was a very intentional choice made by SABRE, both for teaching you the ropes / sharpening your skills, and just being that one truck you can relax playing the game with. It's not trying to be the best for everything like a lot of the high end trucks, but doesn't have to, and I say that its variety of pros, cons, and quirks make it just that much more of an enjoyable truck to drive and do quests with.

    Didn't know this was your first video! It was AWESOME! I agree with you this truck was one of my favorites but as you said it is too jumpy and prone to tip over. Also as you said it could benefit from larger tires because it is a really cool truck.

      hey thank you!! Yea this was my first go at making reviews. Hopefully I've gotten better since then, but the truck is really a workhorse. A lil tippy like you said, but man with a few upgrades this thing would be amazing! I have to say, its really a great starter truck for sure

    Currently doing a hard mode playthrough with some self-imposed rules (like not jumping ahead to Taymyr) and I have to agree. The Fleetstar is a quite capable generalist. Not great at any one thing, but more than able to get most jobs done. Pair it with the White Western Star and you can finish Michigan without buying another truck. Great video & analysis.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  3 года назад +1

      Im actually doing the same thing right now, just playing it chronologically on hardmode. The fleetstar I feel is a true test of your driving skill. If you can drive it; most other trucks become easier to drive and it handles things relartively well if you have patience.

    Additional pro: you can find all but one unique upgrade to it in Michigan. Only the most powerful and fuel hungry engine is in Alaska. This means that you can make it really powerful very early on and with relatively little effort.

    At my stage in the game I rarely use Heavy Duty trucks for anything other than tankers, and those are always in demand, especially in later maps where gas stations are becoming a luxury.
    But I totally agree that for new players they should use this guy, it really teaches a lot. Makes you appreciate the upgrade options and better trucks when they come along.

    I actually prefer this truck and the GMC 9500 over most other trucks in the game even though most others don't. I like their simplicity and versatility especially when mildly upgraded. I use them mostly for pulling full sized trailers or two slots of cargo but I leave heavier stuff for more stable trucks

    Raise suspension and rename to: Flipstar P1G
    I got so frustrated with its OTT rolling over in the mud when I looked at it wrong, I made it pink, to remind me that pigs like to roll in mud. 😁 Michigan at 98% in hard mode, I've bailed to Alaska and Flipstar has been left behind......barring some kind of severe emergency. Didn't have the heart to sell it, it looks Gangster in bright pink with fluoro green stickers, on the original tires and broken stock suspension... F-Lowstar. 😂

    The way i view and use the Fleetstar is "Old Reliable", its not the strongest baddest of trucks.
    But with the right setup its incredibly fuel efficient, will get through most terrains as long as ita not pulling too heavy of a trailer (for heavy trailers i prefer heavier trucks).
    In fact i usually double stack the flatbed instead of taking a trailer, more risk to tipping but no trailer acting as an anchor.
    And what i can tell from experience, when driving bumpy/uneven terrain slow can often be faster than driving fast.

  • @honorabletech
    @honorabletech 2 года назад

    I still use my fleetstar, in Maine, Yukon, etc. I switch my add on between the maintenance body and the loading Crane with a flatbed. If I need a truck that has diff lock and stable all wheel drive and I know it'll make it for mud, and she's my girl. I used her to go find that forest machine that lays South of the garage and maine.

    Ditched this truck as soon as I pulled the Westernstar to the garage in Smithfield. I think Fleetstar quickly gets relegated to a supporting role with either a fuel tank or repair module on the back - fits that role real well since it's at the bottom of the price range.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  2 года назад +1

      It’s definitely a great starter truck. I think people that try to use it, have a better understanding of balance and awareness. Because it’s tough to use, it’s kinda “trial by fire” which a lot of driver miss out on. Including myself on my first playthrough. It is a good support truck as you said as well

      This truck is actually really good. Its very dependent on how you play it. Adding weight on wheels helps with grip and tire upgrades as well. I've done some crazy things with this truck as a stock vehicle with very few tire options. The importance of Diff lock & AWD combined with adding weight on wheels greatly increases offroad performance and also yes you need upgrades for a truck to reach its true potential

      Thanks for the video.
      It hurts me to say this because i really like this truck,really cool and has a beautiful engine sound too but no matter how we can improve it Fleestar is a highway truck,it was not designed for offroad.😢😢
      In Alaska it might be good but with upgrades it becomes too fast,spends a lot and the fuel tank is still small.
      I have good upgrades for it but it's performance is still poor.
      It will never be an offroad truck,maybe GMC can do better with AWD but there is White Western Star,Tayga,Azov,Pacific P16 and it doesn't have their weight/power ratio.
      Highway trucks have only one destiny in this game wich is become useless.
      If you use fully upgraded Fleetstar in Taymir or Kola it will be a disaster.
      I'm not saying it can't be used but it will make your game a nightmare,much more difficult than it already is.

    Dude the Fleetstar 2070A is my go to truck now. I just discovered today how effective it is, when you first get it it SUCKS. But once you unlock actual off-road tires, the Low gear transfer case and the selectable differentials and 6x6 drive this thing is unstoppable. For the longest time I used the ANK civilian model because it was like that without modification, but I just couldn't get over the totally SHIT gas mileage and the fact that you can't do anything with it besides towing semi-flatbeds or getting wrecks unstuck. The Fleetstar 2070A is a beast, it may not be an endgame truck but it'll carry you all the way if you use it right.

      Glad you’re living the fleety. It’s definitely a very viable truck to use for a long time. It has it quirks, but you’re right. It can carry you if you give it a shot
