    I'm finding this video compelling viewing and cannot believe that of all the views you have received somebody clicked the dislike icon! Thanks for sharing this very, very, inspirational video and I hope to attempt to create some of the work that you have. Especially the caterpillar stitch which I think my grandkids will love. Thanks again.

      Thanks so much for your kind words, Grahame. :) Good luck on whichever binding method you try. As for the occasional thumbs down that my videos receive, I don't take it personally. And, I read somewhere that people give a thumbs down to videos that aren't the sort of information they're looking for in order to fine-tune the algorithm that shows new video suggestions in their feed. Maybe that's part of it. Either way, I appreciate the folks who do find the videos useful. :)

    Thanks for the terrific run down of all these bindings and makings. it went a bit fast for me but that just means I'll watch it several times.😊

      Thank you! Sorry about it going too fast. I'm always trying to balance between giving enough information and just getting to the point (folks have a short attention span :)). Sometimes I get the balance wrong. :)

    What a delightful summary of some favorite bindings and creations! They are some of my favorites to teach as well. What could be better than to hold a book in your hand that you have created from start to finish! Thanks for sharing your talent and expertise.

      @KristiWarrenHandmadeBooks  5 лет назад +1

      Agreed! No better feeling than the complete satisfaction of holding that book that you made from scratch! :)

    I started with East Asian single sheet binding, progressed to making text blocks bound in the Coptic style, upgraded to sewing on tapes and added french links over them and started case binding.
    Now I discovered the sewn board book and combine that with french links on tapes and that is my most used form to make books.
    I just like that sewn board binding is a relatively new way to make books and yet it harkens back to medieval codex making since it can be done either with a Coptic stitch, french link stitch, or french links on tapes, and possibly also sewn on cords though that I have not tried yet.
    I really like the wrapped journal form. I think I will try that soon!

      It is indeed a very fun and impressive stitch! Good luck with your effort - don't hesitate to ask me for pointers if you get stuck. And download my written instructions from my website - they'll help as well: www.handmadebooksandjournals.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Caterpillar-Stitch-Sewing-Instructions.pdf

    You rock. Thanks to YT for recommending a vid of yours (Secret Belgian Binding) and from there I followed a suggested vid at the end to this Top 10 (which is brilliant & great PR!). I just subscribed, and now I will wait longingly for each new vid you post. :-) Very clear instructions; I love the stop-zoom and let-it-sink-in moments thruout the videos I've watched. And your website is straightforward to navigate. Well done! And beautiful books. I hope I discover a slower flip-thru of some of your journals and books.

      Umm, why?

    • @sonyiawinfield3020
      @sonyiawinfield3020 11 месяцев назад

      Because you are very very good !!!!!
      I like the way you get to the point and make it very clear. So, I thought I could glean from your ideas.
      I want to make a junk journal but I just haven’t found the right binding. I have beautiful papers that I want to use but I want to see the full page each time
      If I put them in signatures, I will only see 1/2 of the page (left side) then as I keep turning the pages the other side of the page ( right side) will appear. The only time I could see the full page is with the middle sheet.
      I also want lots of pockets and flips
      and flaps
      I just need more of your inspiration!!!!!
      Even if you don’t I’m going to check out any other videos you may have
      I do appreciate you responding!!!!!

    Kristi, what is your website?

  • @a.r.3742
    @a.r.3742 3 года назад

    I just started watching, and will go back, but have this comment. The speeded up visuals are not pleasant to watch. By the time I almost get focused on the book in your hand, the video has moved on to another one. I am watching the video bc I'm into the subject. I would rather see half the number of books if I could get a good look at them. They are beautiful, but there's not enough time to appreciate them.

      @KristiWarrenHandmadeBooks  3 года назад

      You are able to slow the video down, or pause on any book you want to dwell on. I have also included a link to the lengthy version of every single book shown here.
