I enjoyed watching Ben and Susan have an extended relationship. Sad she still had to face her dark fate. Barlow was okay. Not great. He should have had a better fight.
I would have liked a big boss fight at the end. Barlow killing anything in sight. Ben and Susan's characters had good casting. Chemistry was good.

One of the best reviews I've seen. THe only thing I don't agree with is I'd like less Mark Petree. He was great but his story ended with ending Danny Glick. All of his Drive In antics were BS - that entire ending scene was poorly executed.
@restlessbohemian26 Thank you. From what I read and from other reviews, the ending was shot about 7-8 months after everything else was filmed (notice the size and voice difference with Mark). My speculation is that they wanted to spice up the action. All that action didn't fit with the tone of the show. We needed a vampire bloodbath at the Martsen House. Missed opportunity there. All the vampires burning up was just too convenient. Thanks for watching.
Too bad that it was not in the theater or would have a chance to see it. I probably never get a chance to see it because it is only available on Max. I am happy that I do have access to the original and the book. It seems like the best version is the original mini series. However ever if I ever get a chance I wouldn't mind watching this version and I wouldn't mind watching a Return to Salem's Lot and the Rob Lowe mini series as well. However I wouldn't expect it to be as good as the original. I hope you enjoy it with your family.
@peterthebooklover9375 The rewatch was fun because I got a few jump scares out of the family. I would rank the series as follows: 1. '79 miniseries 2. 2024 movie 3. 2004 miniseries. I probably should not have watched the '79 series before the movie but I couldn't resist. I couldn't help but compare them. Something was definitely missing from the movie. Not enough heart maybe.
