- I'll pixel peep on some things you missed. Discuss the differences between the trailer and the book. Things they got wrong and right. My predictions on the characters. Spoilers if you haven't read the book or seen the TV series.
CORRECTION: subscriber @Tek-Knight5592 points out that the novel has a town population of 1319. He wins a virtual pat on the back. Nice work.

@jefferymiller30 Thanks for watching. Fairly new at editing, so I'm trying to figure out what the fastest way is for my style. Takes a bit to figure out how much to add without going overboard. It's fun to play around with. I was on the tail end of Covid and had cabin-fever, so I made a reaction video. Been waiting for this film for a while now.
I got to meet Danny Glick (Brad Savage) and Mark Petrie (Lance Kerwin-RIP) from Salem’s Lot (1979), Tara Reid from a “A Return to Salem’s Lot” (1987) and Samantha Mathis from “Salem’s Lot” (2004). They were all nice people to talk to and to meet. I go to fan conventions all over. It’s a hobby of mine.
@travelingdude1621 That's awesome. I was sad to hear that Lance Kerwin had passed away. I didn't realize that was Tara Reid in A Return to Salem's Lot. I met Ari Lehman who is the first Jason. Funny guy. Been a few years since I've gone to a convention myself. I like that these horror stars are accessible. There seems to be a lot of online excitement for the new Salem's Lot. I'm optimistic.
@@someothercharacter I got to meet Ari Lehman too. I met him in Fort Lauderdale, FL back in 2015 at a fan convention. I asked Lance how the basement of the Marsten House smelled in the ending scene in the movie when Ben stakes Barlow in the coffin. He said it smelled horrible while they filmed there. He and Brad had a fan table next to each other. I couldn’t believe how short they were. I’m about six foot and they were at least three inches shorter than me. It was at a fan convention in NJ. I was short on cash that weekend and I wasn’t able to get a picture or autographs from them. They wanted $40 each for a picture. Not long after, I found out online Lance had died. He was only in his mid-sixties. David Soul (the OG Ben Mears) just died this year. I wonder if he got to see the new “Salem’s Lot” and what he thought of it. I got to meet his ex-wife, Julia Nickson, in NJ too at the same convention place. She’s a famous actress. A nice, beautiful, talented Asian woman she is. I did get her autograph and she used my phone to take pictures of me and her. She and David had a daughter together. I still think the original “Salem’s Lot” was the best version.
@travelingdude1621 Learning lots of stuff here. Didn't know Julia was married to David. I remember here mainly from Rambo. Ari makes the rounds on the convention circuit quite a bit . Prices aren't cheap for celeb meet and greets with photos. I got pictures with the Weasley twins, and that wasn't cheap. If you're a fan, it's worth it every now and then. The original Salem's Lot is a classic. It did a number on me in the early 80s when I watched it. Stuck with for over 40 years. Tough to top it.
@@someothercharacter I asked Julia where they filmed Rambo part 2 with Sly Stallone (who I also met in NYC in May, 2005 at a booksigning, not that big of a guy in person but nice guy and I shook his hand) and she said it was filmed in Mexico. I actually thought they filmed it in Vietnam. I had a crush on her for a long time. It turns out David Soul and I have good taste in women. 😃 They have a daughter named China Soul. He got remarried to another lady after they got divorced. I also got pictures and autographs with Tara Reid and Samantha Mathis. I go to lots of conventions anywhere throughout the year. They’re usually not cheap but they are fun. The first one was filmed in California, the second one in Vermont, the third one in Australia (which I was in back in February on vacation) and the new one in Massachusetts. It was supposed to be released two years ago. I think they should’ve put it in the movie theater in October for Halloween instead of on Max.
@travelingdude1621 I would have seen it in the theater if they released it. I could see Rambo being filmed in Mexico with their tropical locations. Probably cheaper at the time. She is a nice looking lady. Good taste. 👍
It looks interesting. It might be a good version of Salem's Lot but I don't think it will be as good as the original mini series. Time will tell if it is or not. It would be hard to top the mini series because it is a very good adaptation of Salem's Lot. I look forward to your review in the future.
@peterthebooklover9375 The 79 series is hard to beat. Kurt Barlow stole the show. I think they'll make the 2024 Barlow look a lot like the 79 version. He doesn't need to be handsome. Make him scary. We'll see how the film goes. Thanks for watching.

This highly anticipated movie is also going the theatrical route in the UK and Ireland from October 11th, and some other places. The US, however, is only getting this on streaming on Max..anyone know why? 🤔
@johnbleakley4125 That's the big question. Reshoots and Covid delays happened, which kept pushing it back. Nothing on test screening (good or bad) that has been released. October is always a good time to release these movies theatrically since horror movies are typically lower budgeted affairs. At this point, my best guess is that after reshoots, they didn't want to invest too much into marketing and distribution. Save money in case it wasn't well received.

There are a lot of things I don't like about this trailer, but FYI established and Incorporated when it comes to a town or two entirely different things.
@illmade2 This is true. I'm hopeful about the film. Nothing new is really on my radar this Halloween season. I'll probably watch Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Been on a Hellboy kick lately.

The fact they haven't revealed,who is playing Barlow, ,and we haven't seen William saddler in the trailers ,means they still have some hope for it ,
I've been waiting two years now and ,I haven't a clue if Alexander ward ,is Barlow ,for some time it was William saddler ,makes it more exciting to actually go and watch
@Jamie-bq6xv IMDB still has Alexander listed as Barlow. And with the creepy hand in the poster, I think they will go with the '79 look for him. Sadler is listed as Parkins the police chief. He played Death in "Bill and Ted". He's been in so much stuff over the past 30 years. Good actor who can play a lot of different roles. Thanks for watching.
The original tv version with the little boy floating outside the window was one of the scariest scenes as a kid, the second series had a scene where a vampire tries to grab a man through a drain which was terrifying too!! Looking forward to this version, too!
@@Camille_Anderson Familiar with both scenes. The 2004 drain scene (in the jail?) was scary. Well done. Hopefully, we'll get some new scenes with the 2024 version. The treehouse chase scene in the trailer looks like it could be good.
@@someothercharacter yes, I'm hoping they will keep the same atmosphere & the impending doom of the previous incarnations & hopefully a few jump scares on the way. ( I'm a big fan of jump scares, lol!) 💯🙏🙏😉
The new vampire kids at the window don't look as scary as the 1979 version. Like you said, Camille, they were TERRIFYING.

Fantastic breakdown. I am disappointed the new Susan isn't a patch on the other previous two Susans (1979 and 2004). They were classy. This new Susan looks a bit like Velma out of Scooby Doo, complete with bad wig.
@geoffjoffy Thank you. I didn't give Susan much of an evaluation like I did Ben. I was curious if they would do a book accurate version of him and it looks like with the hair, at least, they are trying. I'm glad their is some hype for this film. Great breakdown man. Salem's Lot is my favorite book of all time, and the vampire that Ben was staking in the basement was definitely Matt Burke for sure, and i think in the book Susan asks Ben "So what brings you to Jerusalem's Lot population 1300" or something along those lines.

@@someothercharacter Thanks man I slowed it down and had to zoom in to see who it was and it goes with the scene where Mark tells the others how he saw Barlow get Mr. Burke, which I'm surprised they swapped the fates of Matt and Susan. Yeah that line in the book always stuck out to me because the town I grew up in had 1300 people also. No problem man I subscribed as well can't wait to see more videos from you 💥
@Tek-Knight5592 Haha, I grew in a town of 1200. That main street in the trailer hits home. One gas station and the rest of main street just mom and pop stores. We did have 2 barbershops. Well, I opened up my Salem's Lot book and on page 8 as plain as day is the 1970 town Census recorded as 1319. Missing that will forever haunt me. The sign said 1282 and it had the year it was founded wrong. If two guys like us can figure out these details quickly, I wish the filmmakers would have paid a little more attention, at least for some fan service. You must have an eye for details. I thought I was good.

@hayward5337 Seems to make sense. My guess is at that point in the film, he probably knows what is going on with vampires. Maybe they can only get into the treehouse if they're invited?
