  • Hyundai brought their preproduction Ioniq 6 electric sedan, as well as the Ioniq SEVEN concept electric SUV to the Montréal Car Show. Hyundai Canada gave me access to both vehicles before the show opening to make a video about them. This video is an up close tour of the outside of both vehicles, showing some things that I noticed about them.
    Unfortunately, Hyundai Canada did not leave a key for the Ioniq 6 like they did in 2021 with the preproduction Ioniq 5, so I could only record outside of the vehicle. Disappointing because I hauled a lot of camera gear to Montréal to make this video. Hyundai Canada, if you are reading this, I would love access to the interior of the Ioniq 6.

    Ionic 6 looks like it could be a real winner because of the range that it should have. Great vid, funny bloopers!

      Thank you very much 😎. I agree about the car. The stated range is huge and if I were in the market for a sedan, I would choose the Ioniq 6 over a Model 3.

    I was thinking retrofitting some Mercedes headlight wipers might be an interesting solution to the radar being blocked on my Niro.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  Год назад +1

      I was supposed to treat the radar with a nano ceramic coating before winter, but I never got around to doing it. Supposedly it mostly solves the issue. I think it will work better on the EV6 than the Niro EV since the EV6 radar cover is gloss black plastic versus the matte finish Niro EV radar, but I still think it is worth trying on the Niro.

    That Ioniq 6 looks very interesting shape wise.. love to see the interior once you get a chance

      I agree, and it is nicer in person than in images. I was very disappointed about not having access to the interior. I brought a ton of camera equipment to record this video. Hopefully I will get a press car.

    Great observation on the sunroof...I expected this to have the same panoramic roof and sunshade as the Ioniq 5.

    The trouble with the non heated radar cover is that usually you can only heat with applying power to something electrically conductive, which would make any RF detector stop working. The only thing that I can think of right now would be to have a tube blow hot air behind the cover.
    I will soon be starting to create content on a different channel I fear what you have been going though in your outtakes will be happening all the time. I guess it will take a long time until you produce content that doesn't have to be edited every few milliseconds 🤣

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  Год назад

      It is true that an electric heating element would be a problem, but they could use the liquid thermal management system, but that would be complex.

    • @n1vca
      @n1vca Год назад

      @@EV-olution liquid would also block or at least strongly attenuate the radar waves... One of the reasons it warns you when ice blocks it.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  Год назад +1

      @@n1vca if the pipe were only in the surrounding portion of the case then it should not affect the radar from working. There would be no need to cover the entire surface since the heat should radiate enough from the four outside edges towards the center.

    J'aime bien vos présentations mais s'ils étaient en français ce serait mieux. Je sais que vous le pouvez en plus mais ça vous donnerais beaucoup plus de travail. Beau travail quand même.

      Effectivement, mes vidéos prennent entre 15 et 80 heures à créer, et les traduire ou faire des versions en français ajouterait un autre 15 à 80 heures. Donc malheureusement il n'est pas possible pour moi de faire des versions en français.

    He don't know about car. Why?
    EV6 and IONIQ6 have different shapes. The size of the sunroof is also different.
    The sunroof components on the two vehicles are different. Cost saving is impossible.
    Do you think that It is possible? Make yourself and deliver it to Hyundai. Hyundai will say "Thank you"

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  Год назад

      The shape of the glass can be different, but the mechanicals of the sunroof would be exactly the same. The fact that Hyundai and Kia use many common parts dating back to the 2019 Niro EV, Soul EV, Kona Electric and Ioniq Electric, makes it extremely likely that the sunroof would use the same mechanical parts. Also, considering the fact that many parts in these vehicles are stamped Hyundai/Kia, and that Mobius is a common parts manufacturer for the Hyundai group, makes it even more likely that it would be the same sunroof, even if the glass is different.

      @rinbine2713 Год назад

      @@EV-olution Try installing the IONIQ6 sunroof on the EV6. It doesn't fit at all.
      That means they are completely different parts.

      @rinbine2713 Год назад

      For example..
      Ford F150 side window and Ford Ranger side window use same material and same mechanics.
      Is it same part? Is it cost saving?
