- In today’s video I am flying out the P-51D-30 Mustang, which sits at 5.0 BR.
This plane is very fast, and you have to abuse this plane’s top speed.
Be warned, this plane is pretty boring to fly and also easy to make mistakes in. It requires a lot of patience and discipline, as most of your game is going to be spent sideclimbing and extending away, but as long as you don’t make any mistakes And ur team doesn’t collapse smh this plane is nearly invulnerable!

gotta love american 50cals ripping planes apart mean while 151s can barely rip a wing off a zero
Mg151s do some insane damage actually, but their initial speed and velocity drop off make them hard to aim.
I actually prefer the single 151 on 109s over the armament on the mustang 🤷♂️
@@MacWithGun where can I find guns velocitys? I have seen in some old videos that Gaijin was providing this info in the past, but not anymore.
@@sebastianromero113 go to hangar, click on armor, then protection analysis. You can select any plane with any gun, and the types of bullets and shells they use.
There you can find the initial velocities of each bullet or shell, and the damage they do to aircraft.
Keep in mind that the velocities you are reading are INITIAL velocities, and don’t account for the speed drop off.
For example, most 50cals and 20mm hispanos have low velocity drop off, whereas mg151s have very sharp drop off.

Can you give me some tangible aspects the P-51D has over the P-47D? I notice that whenever I fly the P-47 I can do most of what the P-51D does but usually better with few exceptions.
Linear energy retention and unlimited WEP being the main differences, but I find that the P-47 can energy fight excessively well and reaching 5km or so in altitude makes you one of the most dangerous aircraft where even if you get into a tango with a Bf-109, you can beat them with your insane flaps.
As far as I know, the P-51 seems to be much more limited in scope as I feel as if the P-47 can more easily adapt compared to the P-51D. Similar in matches where I face export variant P-51's especially at altitude, I straight up crush them, even when we're merging at relatively equal energy states.
I will try some of these tricks. This is one of the several planes I'm absolutely *DOGSHIT* with.
I can seriously kick ass with the P400 though for reasons unknown to me. It's objectively not the greatest airframe.
I struggle with the first merge. If I can get past the first group I can pick off a few kills, but if I get targeted first I can’t get away.
If there is a group of enemies in front of you that will be able to catch you after the merge, then just turn away and climb to the side until you have an opening.
The D30 needs an altitude and speed advantage to fight properly. Being patient to merge/engage is a must :)
How to do well as a US player in a P-51 - "#1 have friends" helps soooooo much. Solo is so hard and frustrating.
Yeah 80% of the matches the USA teams will collapse within minutes, and when you don’t have a teammate, carrying in an American plane like the Mustang is very rough.
Most of my deaths in American planes are from getting swarmed after my team collapses, but it is what it is 🤷♂️

I dont like p 51 d 30 in war thunder because Gaijin trying nerf this plane, putting 30 minute fuel extra 10 minute fuel making you heavier for no reason.

How do you use landing flaps directly, without having to lower landing gear ?
I have a keybind to toggle flaps, but I also have separate keybinds to lower and raise flaps, so if I press the ‘lower flaps’ key 3 times I can go instantly to landing flaps without deploying gear. I can also use takeoff flaps.

Having to play with US teams is probably the biggest con of this machine. I have been playing the p47-d28, and I really love it, but having 3/4 of my team dying in the first minute of the game is just so frustrating. It's the most skill issue nation in the game rn imo. I don't want to try to carry every game, and even if I win, I find it just tiring.
