This is Battlefield? Looks so much like squad. Crazy how modders can completely transform a game.
If EA/DICE allowed modding tools for BF3, Squad would of never existed. This would of came out before Squad, the foundation of the engine and framework already built on BF3 allows for a better experience than Squad. It already has destruction, smoother animations, sound design, vehicle implementation, etc. If this came out in 2013, by today, it would be a way better mod than current day squad.

Before they said "Frostbite engine is too complicated for modding" as an excuse yet here we are, a modding tool built entirely by the community, and a beautiful mod that is built by it. I mean, they're worried about sales and all, but if I never heard of bf3 and heard about this mod, I would instantly buy it, what is it like 40 bucks for premium? It just prolongs lifetime of the game AND the sales. It's not like they can't make another game while also allowing the community to mod them.

Bf3 was pretty broken. I remember how many times it crashed and got non drescriptive battlelog errors.
yea dunno about the whole polish aspect I think that is rose colored glasses. but the quality was still much better and after the roughness of luanch it turned into a classic

BF4 was a good game still is and BF3 definitely wasn't prefect from launch and had its own dumb issues you need to get over like suppression and sun glare which sounds simple but some of those mechanics made you lose gun fights when you shouldn't.
It's mad how good the game looks 11 years later. All the sounds of bf3 are just pure nostalgia for me. Pretty cool what people make. I'm sure dice said at one point it was impossible to mod this game, something along those lines, which it did take a while but it's cool that people have done it.
The sound of BF3 is what made BF3 one of my favorite games of all time. It was really immersive.
Developers will always underestimate their communities.
Honestly, this might be better than Squad because you have the destruction, vehicles and someone can fly a plane on the team and do coordinated airstrikes.

@@HaloDude557 The soon-to-be announcement of the mod was back in December 2021. Ask for ground vics in half a year and for aircraft in a year. In the meantime they have to make more, bigger maps, probably enhance kits and work on animations.
It is a long term process to mod something Battlefield and in PR devs deleted in-vehicle original seat limit in late 2020 - 16 years after project start. Obviously in that time PR had so much shit and was a complete title on it's own, I mention it because I find it a funny, thought provoking detail how some stuff may be tricky.
I hope devs can use some features that are already in the game - I'm talking animations like dragging a body, climbing a wall, fastroping (!), Superhornet's WSO targeting pod display, Abrams' reload - that might be unnecessary, but sounds fine for immersion and in the spirit of the project.
That said I don't know shit about modding, just don't get too fired up and keep peeking.
Friendly reminder that we didn't get any mod support for BF3 (at least in its prime) because DICE/EA claimed that the engine would be too complex for modders to make sense of. Yet here we are.
This looks great btw, I always thought Squad was too pricey for me to give it a shot so I might as well just check this one out first. My friends still have a copy of BF3 somewhere!
This is funny as hell because I'm sure there are modders that are considerably more intelligent than the engine devs. When you're dealing with a few thousand modders vs 10s of devs it's very likely to happen
maybe that was true at the time of release? idk when that statement was made but there might have been something to it in 2011
@@TristanAD_ I dont think that's how it works. There is no change to the game for years, so they dont make it easier. The modders crack it open by themselves.
Imagine how insanely good this game could have been, had the devs released modding tools for the game upon release. It would have stayed alive for much longer too.
Bad for business (on a short term at least), but great for the franchise and the community.

My issue with Squad is that it runs really bad but doesn't even look that good even with a 3060.
I hope this is more accessible for people with older hardware, I remember it being well optimized.
The graphics can look absolutely beautiful or horseshit,it really depends on the scenaries.
CPU wise the game runs very poorly.
Yeah Squad is unoptimized. But, it depends on the map that you playing. My device struggle in some maps.
That's because the 3060 is a horrendous bottom of the barrel card. Outside of browsing and light video editing / old school gaming you won't get much mileage from it

I play all sorts of games on it. As an example Warzone runs at 90 consistent ultra.l settings no ray tracing.

It'll be great if this catches up with PR with regard to assets and kits. Think how great this will be with player-flyable aircraft (incl. jets), and the ability for infantry to laze targets or rope up to otherwise-inaccesible positions.
They will add those things in the near future
The grappling hook seems kinda silly, I mean - who carries around a fucking hook and climbs it with the gear on them? It makes sense to include a line to descend heights like in the vault mission though, what I'd expect is an extendable ladder for the breacher, or a choice of these two given that hook gives you range, but ladder could be placed silently or used as a catwalk.
If they went for a descend line there is an animation built in, perhaps it can be recycled.
@@user-th6ty2ln6x The hook is part of a specific kit. Many great gaming moments have occurred as a result of being able to rope up (or over) otherwise inaccessible or unpassable bits of the map.
@@NZobservatory I know, I miss Archer. But the hook was part of SF pack ie: Battlefield. Since the aim of PR is something different (and if I understand right rappeling is already in game) I rather don't see it.

The biggest thing I'm hoping for on this game is to save the fucking community, I'm so tired of squad games with tons of COD players that just want to get to the next kill no matter what and are not in for an experience. Hoping this community catches the good ol milsim players that are willing to take things slow and deliberate
So be a squad leader and a change that you want to see you either teaching those kids are kicking them out of your squad so they learn the hard way
@@Dub3God oh trust me, I've kicked tonsss of guys, but the community is so overssaturated with them now. Even when I make it specifically telling all the squad members we're gonna take it serious and slow. Still get the 3 guys that run toward gunfire with no higher thought process, feels more like rounding up a bunch of kids and trying to keep their attention for 5 mins than playing a milsim

It’s crazy to me that modders had to build tools from scratch just to mod this somewhat old game engine and even with all those obstacles that come from not having any dev tools, they still manage to make a better user interface than Dice could using their arsenal of resources and tools across their large studios... Also, I’m convinced the blue filter ruined the visuals because there’s no way this is the same game!

OMG. The memories I had in high school when BF3 was the game that merged my friends over from COD to play. Post Launch support was the Best!

I hope we get to see vehicles of all kinds being addded (Perhaps they are and I am just blind.) Really cool stuff though and I wish we had this option in BF Portal. Perhaps in time? Perhaps the tool within Portal will never be enough to scratch that itch that many want from a Battlefield game.

Bro I think about that moment in Bad Co when you send that 30MM through the wall before hitting that village, what a fucking game. Hopefully the Unreal 5 makes it easier for devs who've become complacent with what's standard or to be expected
Didn't even know people had figured out how to mod BF3. Nice. It's still one of my favourites when it comes to overall feel in game play. Clearly with today's standards, there are some rough edges to it, but good lord. Still a beautiful game, with great gameplay, some amazing maps, and less than 4GB installation. Very tempted to install this.
I'm going to have to get this. BF3 is still one of my all time favorite games. Project Reality in BF2 was awesome too.

When the MOD FOR ONE OF YOUR MORE THAN A DECADE OLD GAMES is 100X BETTER THAN YOUR NEWEST TITLE, you know you did something wrong.
This might critically wound the Squad, first its much cheaper, second i think it will run much better because Squad is kinda unoptimised right now, performance is bad even on good pc's + it have destructable buildings, day night cycle.

I've been keeping an eye on this mod for while and if this plays better than squad with all the fixins (vehicles, thanks, aircraft etc) I'll definitely repurchase BF3 just for the mod. Hopefully they will have plenty of servers and players supporting it.

I'm waiting until fall/winter to build my next system...last one was built 12yrs ago! I bought the Xbox series X last year and have been playign with the XIM keyboard/mouse adapter since I am unable to use the "sticks and triggers" to play FPS games. I'm thinking about playing this game on the old system as standby until I build my new system! It looks like great, tactical fun!
