I served in aviation my entire time in the army. I've talked to loads of aviators from Vietnam. The huey was the preferred gunship because you couldn't hear small arms shooting at you in the cobra.
AH-64 guy here, we ran Flechettes in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pretty standard load out. They actually look exactly the same as the ones in the video you talk over, we were probably expending old Vietnam munitions on the Innies

Recently saw an interview with a vietnam pilot, who said the cobra's biggest weakness was that the pilot's often didn't hear that they were being shot at (vs the Huey)
My second favorite helicopter story I’ve been told from Vietnam is when a pilot had his Cobra’s tail blown off with some AA munition, but somehow managed to magically land it

My grandpa was the youngest Vietnam Cobra pilot, he was with the 101st Airborne and flew all sorts of missions. He doesn't ever talk about it and still suffers pretty bad anxiety from all that. I got most of my info from my mom, who said he did a whole lot of killing and saw a lot of death so he doesn't want to talk.

From playing DCS I know that the Apache has flechette rounds too.. probably almost the same as these ones.
