Man a dcs/arma mashup game with an engine like this would be sick. The ability to do high precision air strikes against player troops, fight for air superiority, and run ground ops all in the same game with multiplayer would be absolutely insane.
I don't think it would work if the games were in the same engine. That being said, multi engine solutions exist like used in flight Sims for a long time. IE external flight model projection
honestly, with the way reforger is looking, arma 4 probably will be like this. except not to the extent of dcs, maybe like IL2 but a little more arcadey

Always hated the way people can snipe you from kilometers through grass and stuff and you basically cant see where you are shot from, but this is something else. The realistic foliage adds the real fear of everything being a hiding spot for the enemy, but also, you can determine where you are getting shot at, from foliage density and tree cover.
Edit: being shot through grass and stuff because it wasn't rendered.
I think if they add the effect of being tired from running back and forth for the whole night, it should be harder for snipers to deal such amounts of damage. You basically have to sneak up to the enemy positions through terrain while the regular soldiers use transport to get around and are in the middle of resting. Snipers should be getting debuffs that will make you play less aggressively and hide more. Bullet wounds also need to be attended properly or they will get in the way or make you even more tired. Flare guns should also be added for making it harder for snipers to take advantage of nighttime.
you can also duck into cover much more comforably, knowing what you see as cover will be the same on their screen for once
@@PHAS71 thats impossible to do like what you equipt a sniper after looting someone and now you have debuffs? on top of that it would literally ruin every snipers tactic ever of shooting than moving
@@yurizacharov9236 not nesscessarily impossible to implement something that acheives a similar effect: a fatigue system based on total distance traveled on foot in a given timeframe with standing next to a fire or sitting down being a "rest period" that reduces fatigue. A sniper could still use the tactic of shooting then moving as they would easily be able to rest after repositioning. This keeps the current strategy viable (but not overpowered) because it lengthens the time between shots taken lest the sniper risk being found as a result of fatigue-induced movement speed debuffs
@@yurizacharov9236 another way to balance this tactic is simply by adding foliage movement debuffs and sound cues for rustling through brush, similar to Tarkov. Snipers could still easily employ these guerilla tactics but they would be forced to think about when and where they shoot from to avoid getting cut down by suppression.
This is probably the most realistic interpretation of being in the woods at night in a game I’ve ever seen. Woods at night are literally pitch black. I get the same feeling watching this as I do in real life being in the woods alone.

Honestly it depends on the season a lot and what phase the moon is in, full moon in fall with no leaves it's barely dark at all, new moon and middle of summer yes it's definitely pitch black
For sure. Full moon on a January midnight at 65°N, snow everywhere, I can read a book just fine. Same latitude mid June, no moon, I can also read a book. Same latitude, mid December, no snow, no moon, it’s so dark I can’t read a book even with a headlamp.
The thing missing is that you can't move in those dark woods very fast without tripping on something, making tons of noise etc.. Right now you can sprint strafe without problems.
I doubt many people will notice this, but you playing the Halo Infinite version of “Under Cover of Night” while talking about foliage and concealment during night ops didn’t go unappreciated!

I have nearly 4k hours in Arma 3, i havn't played it in nearly a year now, but damn am I excited for Arma 4. The improved FPS, far better visuals and foliage and a less clunky UI are all proof that BI listened to the comunity about what the next gen Arma should be. I hope to see aircraft, boats and tanks in future patches. Man I feel the same way i did when i first bought Arma 3, nearly 8 years ago...

@@yosyp5905 2 - 3 years until Early Access sounds more plausible. Bear in mind they are still rewriting many of the old systems and possibly even adding new ones. On top of that they have to create the campaign et cetera - it is a lot of work.
If Bohemia would have been able to deliver Arma 4 from one year from now, most likely they would have skipped Reforger altogether.
reforger is some sort of testbed for arma4. means they are still unsure about features and stuff, 2-3 years from now sounds about right.
Well, it’s likely gonna be hot garbage tailored to console players like dayz stand-alone was and still is in 2022.

Me and a buddy had the idea of killing a couple players, stealing their clothes and weapons and just walking into the enemy FOB. we never made it that far as we had been getting disconnected a ton

yeah the spontaneous disconnect issue is annoying; I've also been getting crashes whenever I touch the options menus while in-game so gotta avoid that (seems ok at main menu tho)
i managed to do that before a disconnect one time-- we drove up to a checkpoint manned with 6 enemy players in one of their vehicles, all of us wearing their uniforms. they let us through, I said "i can't believe they let us through" to the guys in the car (i was driving), and then I guess they heard us because they opened up on us and we all died.
It would be nice to be able to play the game. I'm disconnected every time from the game.
The way the bullets sound when smacking those trees is fuckin immersive, them rounds hitting wood sounds almost like the real thing

My favorite part so far in PvP is due to how more milsim centric Reforger is, shit like land navigation is an actual useful skill to have and is funny to see most of the team usually just stick to roads and trails for easy ambushes. Hopefully Bohemia doesn't change that.

@@jeraldehlert7903 1989 they said. military used gps back then. but more the cute lcd arrow version then a fledged out google maps. but any veteran arma/dayz player should be able to navigate without much troubles even through forests and everything, a compass is luxury equipment for that.

If you have your own room you can :-) I usually keep the lights off and my colleagues comment on it every time. I just prefer them off, it's easier on the eyes (for me).

I'm super interested in how they're going to do nightvision in the future, ArmA 3 got IR Illuminators in it's end of life cycle, so I'm curious if they plan on making IR illuminators actually important this time around, as well as potentially making IR lasers more important by making optics blurry under nightvision.
I'm hoping they'll add something like a fire support system where you can call in continuous illumination shells over an objective area or grid square for X amount of time. Would be super fucking neato.
ace already did that where you cant use optics in a night vison they get really blurry
until they add thermals again.. thats where the fun ends for the rifleman..
Hopefully they don't do any night vision in this game. Only other thing they should add is flares. However when they make Arma 4 then obviously that will be a different story.
It's based in cold war era to keep it accurate I did find out however they did indeed have nvg in cold war era but they were the crap ones the one lens one

This looks amazing. 32 yrs old here only recently got into gaming a few years ago. Never played Arma or squad or eft. Only played pubg and a few single player games. Seeing this game makes me really excited to play. It looks amazing at night
if you have a good pc i suggest trying squad on max settings, only other game i can say that looks really immersive after the graphics update
its nuts the level of difference from arma 3 vanilla, you can actually play tactically, the gunplay is actually sound (despite issues with servers), the level of communication and squad play you can use is so much more indepth, despite a lack of lots of content whats currently available is of really good quality, it does show off what to expect quite well

THIS is what arma is for, guerilla warfare, small squads, realism, i just love the cooperation of that US squad that assembeled a SEARCH PARTY to look for the enemy, and the suppression too!, i was too tired of the scripted operations in ARMA 3 that are everywhere on youtube, i always needed this type of "sandboxy" gameplay, where you dont know if you'll be ambushed or not, or if the enemy is looking at you, or something like that.
Finished watching a video, went to my home page, this was posted 23 seconds prior. Also I'm sure I played with you in Squad and saw you get sniped right in front of me.

@@chrispyoperator5014 It isn't. It's a hybrid, it uses the renderer from Enfusion but the rest is still Real Virtuality, or modifications of. I'd also like to see recreated assets that take advantage of the newer tech. The scaling is the most obvious improvement from older games too. Buildings are unrealisticly small relative to the player in the older games, they're far, far more true to life in Reforger.

I like the idea of tank hunters or communication disruption being able to do raids on radio stations or finding out where the enemy have motor pools so you can ambush logi as it goes between bases . When they get planes and airports in imagin doing a night assult to blow up plane refueling stations or damage the runway so they lose air assets .
alright, I'm sold. I want this game so bad. The beginning of PoE's Forbidden build comes to mind though "Have you sworn vengeance on your video card and it's bloodline?"
I’d wait till they fix the servers. 9/10 servers barely work and you get disconnected after 5-10 minutes.

I’m really hoping we get some cool 80s spec ops equipment, maybe ghillie suits, nvgs, etc. in the form of mods. I don’t know how they would balance it yet (I.e. keep EVERYONE from using it) but I’m hoping we do get something.
Tbh I want this to be more focused on grunt gameplay. Less tacticool stuff and more of a representation of your average soldier.
@@shoeby9273 it’s the 80’s, Tacticool hasn’t been invented yet. Night vision systems are shit, night scopes are huge, and everything is few and far between. I’m talking Black Hawk Down style special forces, not Seal Team Six shit.
Well since reforged is operation flashpoint cold crisis remake you will see some short ghillie suit as i remember there was one, but not full one like nowadays, also American's have full night op team wearing black with silenced guns, so i hope they bring them in updates later on.

That was great. Caused absolute Chaos at that base. Great Shooting Drewski. Arma Reforger looks pretty fun but unstable, every Stream I've seen and many videos of it crashing. Looks worth it thought at the same time.

Pso scopes were used sometimes on ak's like acog's cause oldest of pso's were x4 but newer were longer like 6 8 or 10 probably
That is the style of game I like to play. Running around alone behind enemy lines in the dark, confusing the hell out of them.
Also the local VOIP chatting with the guy you were about to kill was hilarious.

I wanted to get into Arma 3 a while back but I was instantly disheartened because the whole package would have overshot my budget. I hope to buy Arma 4 one day and get that complete next-gen milsim experience.

I don't think the game's worth 30 bucks rn, I think you should wait a little bit and once more content is added you should give it a try

Never know what you like until you try it gamer! Once you play a few times you’ll see that’s it’s not as complicated as it seems and it’s totally worth the learning curve!
One you start playing, it won't be that complex. And this game makes everything simpler.
I highly recommend you get into this series, Arma has given me countless hours of endless fun, although you might want to wait until this game, reforger, gets more stable.

All I can really say is I hope they do away with the silly death animations, ever since they changed them in dayz it’s bugged me, seeing a guy fling his arms and fly onto his back is annoying, killing a guy and watching them drop is much cooler
