Galneryus is like that, it generates a spiral of emotions, the band has a stage from 2001 to 2008 with another singer (Yama B - strong voice and fry vocal) and 2009 to present (Sho - defined voice and high tones), I particularly like plus the second stage, mixing power metal with the progressive. Angel of Salvation is a song of 14 minutes, I like it but it is not one of my favorites and if you are looking for something more "Dark" I recommend you: Rising Infiuration, Rain of Tears, Flames of Rage or The Followers. They also have ballads like Remain Behind, No more Tears or Attitude to life, anyway all the songs of the band are epic xD thanks, greetings ✌
Prefer the old galneryus more compact, precise and sharp. New Galneryus lean more to european power metal style. A bit repetitive and draggy here and there.

Sho is a skilled vocalist but I just liked Yama-B's more aggressive style, especially when he started singing in Japanese in their later stuff with him (One for All - All for One/Reincarnation). I didn't mind his English, but much prefer him singing in his native tongue.

I put all the best songs at the top. There's even a special version of one of his songs he plays called Japan at the beginning of a guitar lesson by Syu that I really love.
You need to see the live version of this song. It's almost twice as long with more solos, higher notes hit, & just overall an epic masterpiece. Galneryus is pretty much Japan's answer to Dream Theater, mixing power, progressive, & Neo-classical metal. Syu is a guitar God in Japan, Masotoshi Ono is among if not the best male vocalist in Japan as well, & plus the rest of the band are no slouches either. Also you need to check out "Force Of Courage" "Brutal Spiral Of Emotion", & "Ultimate Sacrifice", preferably all live versions.
ASTERISM is another Japanese band that is crazy talented, They are only a 3 piece, young but their talent is beyond their years/ Check out their song RISING MOON.
The guitar solo and some of the riffs and orchestral parts are based on Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. Another uplifitng power metal song you should check out is "When Destinies Align" by Lovebites. And Lovebites' "Glory to the World" video was filmed in the same church building.

New galneryus = epic
