- Today I install a massive intercooler upgrade for my 600WHP Nissan GT-R!!
In todays video I install the AAM Competition S-Line front mount intercooler on my Nissan GT-R! I start off by showing step by step on how to remove the front bumper on the Nissan GT-R, and then slowly work on removing the stock GT-R intercooler.
Once everything is removed, we mount the new massive intercooler to the front of the GT-R and connect all the pipes.
Fairly straight forward install, but it does take some work. Stay tuned for the test to see how much lower the intake air temps are!
Currently my GT-R is running AAM's Stage 3 tune and my car rips!

I know you're careful, but I would recommend getting some nylon trim tools as opposed to using a screwdriver for the "prying", less likely to do any damage if you slip and they grab those nylon fasteners easier.

Hi, I purchased one FMIC like this one .Could you please tell me if you removed the bottom oem rubbers where the FMIC sits and has the two bolts or you left them on and bolted the FMIC on top and also I dont know where the two small allen key bolts and nuts go fitted. Thanks for your time and great videos btw .
I'm pretty sure I used the ribber pieces to bolt the bottom together. I should have shown everything in this video on what I did. Try a few different ways and see what fits best ;)

Outstanding video! I don't think I could have even figured out how to take the front end apart and would have absolutely no clue how to install a new intercooler. I admit that I had to look up what an intercooler does so that should tell you all you need to know about my mechanical abilities.
What are you expecting for horsepower gains? Seems quite a bit of work/money for a small efficiency improvement.

Erwin Monti dont remember anyone saying ( or him ) that it would add a lot of HP. You run cooler and can do more pulls when racing. Its more efficient. Or you can just look for another reason to troll.

Thanks for the video! Just got my GTR and am looking forward to doing similar! Just curious if there is any concern about loss of Cooling effectiveness with the shroud out? Air piling up and going around the intercooler at higher speeds. I’ve seen that in other situations. Thanks once again!👍

DONT PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THESE GUYS, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. THEIR ARE NO MODS YOU CAN DO TO A STOCK GTR THAT WILL GIVE YOU NOTICEABLE HP DIFFERENCE FOR THE MONEY. ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR 5 OR 10 HP. MY GTR IS 1400 HP. COST 80.000 DOLLARS. THATS WORTH IT. AND (EVERYTHING ) HAD TO BE REPLACED FROM SUSPENTION UP...

trilingualkid and you can do more pulls when racing. Longer/hotter you run stock IC less efficient it becomes.

4 more bolts and the whole bottom piece comes off. Much easier to work on. Also the aluminum brackets from the crash bar to the lower bumper are not supposed to be bent.
Whatever the shape they were is the shape they should be. But yeah once I removed all this going back to stock, it was much easier.
After watching this video I don't think I need a gtr but I most get an oscillating tool

It'll keep the intake air temps much cooler. So it'll result in better turbo efficiency. Innovative Speed Shop waterless wash is what we use. It's fantastic!
Stock IC > Street .. upgrade turbos you're going to have to upgrade to race IC . You should have datalogged before and after results

11:18 Not sure if you knew, but that metal bracket is supposed to be straight. It gets bent when you bottom out.
I don't think so. THat's just how it's shaped to give the shroud rigigitity. If it bent from bottoming out, my car would have damage somewhere on it. Thats how they are
@@BrosFOURRSpeed sorry but that is incorrect. I replaced mine with new brackets from Nissan and they are straight. I tried to straighten one of them and it broke. If you can straighten them they can be reused. There are aftermarket alternatives made from titanium but I just opted to use the OEM parts.
The gtr would look sick if you got a red tow hook for the front and left it on

I'll never understand why parts for the new GTR cost so much. It's in direct contradiction to the spirit of the GTR. Just looking at prices of fmic's they all seem to be ridiculously priced it's like you're paying extra to have the fmic polished while resting on the legs of a virgin Brazilian.
Yeah a lot of companies charge crazy money for R35 parts! My car has nearly all bolt on parts from AAM Competition and they seem to have very good prices for awesome parts! Since this video, my car is now straight piped with their active exhaust and running E85!

You don’t need an inter cooler for just FBO. Won’t do anything for you.

Bros FOURR Speed not needed on stock turbos. Go get a flex fuel kit.
You loose boost pressure on stock turbos with racing intercooler.
Get yourself a good impact wrench. All those nice toys and you're taking off wheels with a lug wrench like you're stuck on the side of the road? Get yourself a nice milwaukee fuel impact.
I kept looking at their tools, too! Not only are they needing an impact wrench, they also need a hand held electric wrench for all those bolts!!
They are keeping simple for the everyday person. They can obviously buy tools. I like there format. You can go to tj hunt punk ass channel for stuff thats impossibly expensive.

Why do I need that? I like showing that you can do these mods in the garage without expensive tools. Not everyone needs to go out and buy specialty tools. Simple hand tools work just as fine. I have power tools, but don't always need to use them. Just because I have a GTR doesn't mean I need to spend tons of money on tools.
@@BrosFOURRSpeedafter spending 14 years of my 20 year career as a mechanic so far, using basic hand tools, I can tell you that the little investment you make on an electric ratchet from milwaulkee, is a God send on saving you time, and saving you from injuries, and in some cases damage on nuts and bolts. At around $120 usd for the kit, it's cheap insurance. I reckon you could do a tool buying episode to show people what kind of tools you need to buy and have bought would be greatful for the average Joe. It's great to see you like to get hands on, but simple hand tools can sometimes lead the common enthusiast into bigger problems if they're cheap and nasty tools. It's always worth using and promoting quality tools.
