Add to that autism? Which is what my grandchild is facing. Ptsd, OCD, psychosis, delusion and anxiety. Been given an ultimatum of, take the drugs or we I'll section you and force the meds on to you. I am beside myself with worry. Grandchild is afraid of the side effects of the meds.
This makes alot of sense. This girl i work with in Adult Services has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, however she only hears one voice regarding self harm when she hears a glass break. Completely fine any other time, and she does not remember her childhood. PTSD sounds like a much better diagnosis.
All said well and perfect......only to and for those who have experienced this. There are not enough words to convey this to those who have never experienced this. No one can return from this experience, but only live through this experience.
I have PTSD and anxiety. But had the scariest dead sober two week psychosis of visual auditory and tactile hallucinations that were so scary and feeling my body move like if I was being controlled like a robot. After just too much fucking trauma.

My name is Jason Elia and I've been battling mental health my whole life, with family history of psychosis/ schizophrenia. also I've been in and out of prison from the age of 18, my last prison term was lasted three years and covid hit the world. I would say it was the most stressful and longest prison term i went through. i paroled 4 years ago and right from then begin I had started experience thoughts that the people i was working around where going to attack me or just hurt me with the likely hood that they weren't, alongside of auditory hallucination that where other peoples voices and not my thoughts sounding like of people, which is new and scary as heck. things are getting advanced in my symptoms, the thought withdraw and the thought insertion would been the most debilitating. I'm under doctor's care with Fresno behavior health with no funds for private care, I'm slipping away and not knowing what to-do. I haven't been able to connect with a therapist to open up to without something triggering psychosis or ptsd symptoms
Afghan veteran. Ive got "episodes" that last days. And days more recovering from the hightened anxiety. I cant go outside when its a full moon because for some reason my theres people in a treeline that can see me (i can rationalize that it doesnt make sense in the moment but still wont go outside in moonlight). I get auditory hallucinations (always the sound of various sizes of explosions but once again can rationalize that its not real while still hearing it) lastly and most impactfull is dissasociation. When im in an "episode" i can be looking at my own son and not recognize him, look around and KNOW im in america but have the feeling im back in afghanistan and cant escape...like its the first day of a ten month deployment. The dissasociation also comes with forgetfulness and a small loss of time or snapshots of memory from the course of hours. The dissasociation and hallucinations almost always go together.
I've been self aware of these situations and learning more and more about them over the course of 11 years. I've looked for help, but unfortunately I do not know where to turn. I don't even know where to start with the VA

My mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 40, but a psychiatrist told me it can't be, because it doesn't start at 40. She had a traumatic marriage and I'm wondering if my mom has BPD that with schizoid psychosis, which does make sense for her trauma.
I'm sorry to hear this. Being diagnosed at age 40 is rare. Most people are diagnosed between age 18 and 30. So I agree with the psychiatrist. It may also be helpful for you to know that sometimes schizophrenia or psychosis lays dormant (under the surface) until a stressful life event or trauma causes it to "bloom." That's a possibility as well.
Thank you for choosing this topic very close to my heart. My brother suffers from this, I always thought his illness was caused by an extremely abusive childhood. Should I think this?

I am not sure how to advise someone. Their mother took in a foster child whose mother was addicted to drugs and who she decided to adopt. 40 years later, the adopted mother had passed and now the grown man cannot take care of himself after being cared for by the mother. What agencies are available to care for adults with life skills challenges? He refuses to go to Social Services and instead begs, borrows and steals on the streets to survive while threatening to commit suicide. Is there any help available?
Im pretty sure my daughter is suffering from delusions and psychosis...she was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2012 she is getting worse i dont know how to help her.
I'm so so sorry. Schizophrenia is a complicated diagnosis and most doctors target reduction of the most salient or problem-some symptoms such as hallucinations with medication. Delusions are difficult to treat, however. I will cover this on Wednesday.
