Cut out an image using a layer mask | Adobe Photoshop

In this tutorial I'm going to demonstrate a technique, how you can neatly cut out an image using a layer mask in Adobe Photoshop.

I want to say thank you so much for your clear, and precise tutorials in the Beginner’s Guide Series for PS, ID, and IL; The quality of instruction indicates your willingness to share your knowledge about the aforementioned programs. Obviously, you must have spent substantial time developing these tutorials and you did not skimp on the length of time for your videos like so many others have done.
Your suggested method for background removal works perfectly for me. However, I have a problem removing background color(s) from hair. For the cutout masking tutorial, which brush did you use to remove background color from the woman’s hair?

How do I use my masked layer to print it? I tried to print the layer, but then it still prints the layer with the areas I took out in the mask (white edge around my image)

im not sure how i messed it up. i cant do the green line around the girls lower right armpit. i think its because my foreground colors are differnet than yours. its switched between the black and white.. im not talking about just hitting X.. something is wrong with the black/whtie part.

One more thing that should have been mentioned is to right click the mask on the thumbnail to apply the layer mask.
