I'm from Opelousas and moved away in 1982. It's so much crime because there's nothing to do. No jobs in a town with only a super Walmart to shop for clothes. So sad and glad my family and I left.

My kids are in Cecilia schools and they lost to Opelousas in the championship game. Despite being on the losing end, I think it’s horrible that they were stripped of their championship title, trophy and the whole season. They won that game with passion.
As for Opelousas itself, I don’t go there anymore because of the crime. There are records I need to get from the courthouse (I’m a genealogist) but I can’t get around there without a GPS and I am not chancing getting lost in that town
I live in opelousas and it's not that bad,if you mind your own business. A lot of loving people out here.Most will help you before they try to hurt you. So come on down and get your paper work it's all good lol
@@Mr_interstate_skater I actually went to 2020 yesterday to get my tire changed. I had a bad experience in a courtroom (twice) and I think it’s easier to blame the crime than to admit that I have PTSD from it. Going through the historic parts yesterday was so beautiful and I was shocked at how old some homes were and how they are still in great condition
