I was born in 1962 and lived there until I was 25. When I left, you could see it was going, but it still had a semi-thriving Main Street. I haven't spent any appreciable time there since... just visits/ funerals. The difference between now and when I was a kid are jaw dropping. There used to be 3 (yes, 3!) busy grocery stores on Main Street. Two face to face at the head of the street, and a 3rd in the 2nd block, just before the RR Tracks. You used to have to circle and wait for a parking place. There was a MOVIE THEATRE, for goodness sake, and the iconic (1950's, I'm fairly sure) Rosebowl beside the movie. It has changed SO much. It's like seeing someone you once cared about being ravaged by cancer. I'm glad that I was able to get out, but this makes me grieve for what is left of the town. I still have family there, and they wouldn't consider being anywhere else. I think I would go crazy.

There's good in the worst of places (n people) and some bad on the best of places (n people) either you're a part of the problem or part of the solution. I was born and raised in Bastrop, lived in California since 1979. I can't wait to move BACK home and be a part of the positive......the solution. Don't judge a place or people looking through the WRONG set of lenses. LAWSON 4 Bastrop!!!

Man you know how people say never meet your heros... well visiting this town was like that for me, as Because Of Winn Dixie is one of my favorite movies, and I was so heartbroken to find out this town is a complete dump. Hollywood has a way of filming movies that they keep a tight frame on just what they want you to see and they did an excellent job with this movie, making this town look like such a nice little peaceful town, but in reality it is the biggest dump of a town I've ever been to and I've been to all 50 states. If you go back and watch the movie after you've seen Napoleonville, you can even see in the background where it was a dump way back then during filming as well, but they do such a good job of disguising it. I went all the way out there so excited to make a video of the filming locations, and I wouldn't even get out of the car it was so bad. I spent a week mapping out the filming locations before I went, so at least I was able to recognize them as I drove through, but damn man, what a disaster that place is. Unbelievable. I tagged a few of the locations in your video, 0:29 is the Cajin Corner restaurant, alot of that area can be seen in several scenes especially when they're searching for Winn Dixie when he runs away, if you would have gone straight right after turning at that building, instead of turning left, you would have seen Gertrudes Pet Store on the left on the corner, 5:12 is just a building in the background a couple times when the kids ride their bikes by, and the fence on the right when you turn at that building, can be seen when they are looking for Dixie, at 12:57 the big white house on the left was the library, I believe the mayor actually lives there, which explains why it looks much better than anything else in that town. There are several streets you missed actually, but this is a good video and I appreciate revisiting :)

If you gonna make a video then go to Moss bluff, South Lake Charles and Sulphur where crimes going on but the news keeping quiet about it. Where you at is on the north side of Lake charles and it done quiet down a whole lot. Let's talk about how it dont flood on the north side like it do on the south side of lake charles. That's why them white people trynna buy land on the north side.

I've lived in Katy for seven years. This video gave me a reference point for the other small-town videos I've seen, like Jena Louisiana and several others. The statistics caught my interest, too. Poverty at only 3% compared to, as I recall, around 12% nationally? Interesting.

How dare YOU drive through the oldest, poor parts of Lake Charles and call them dangerous! WHY are they dangerous, because they are predominately black? Please point out the druggie's or dealers hanging out. Where are the people sitting on the porch playing spades or drinking 40's? Ididn't see any babies playing in the street or drive-by's. What I do see is quiet neighborhoods with people in their home minding their business and doing the best they can! Please take your RACIST ASS and go "film" somewhere else!
