I grew up in Prichard. I am 62. Downtown Prichard was nice in the early 70s. I can hardly recognize it now. Its the same thing that has happened in so many cities. White Flight to the suburbs Its not politically correct but the truth.. If the black community wants to solve a problem look in the mirror.

All those fancy lake side homes are owned by wealthy people but most of the population in New Roads are not wealthy.

My dad was born and raised in Gloster, my Mom and her family moved there when she was 4. We went to visit my Mom’s family for two weeks every Summer. Little League Baseball and of course Loved the Piggly Wiggly, (it was small back then)…the removal of the train tracks was like the nail in the coffin…I brought my parents back home when they passed…great memories

Of course the title is “Hoods in Vicksburg, MS” so you are seeking out the worst areas of our town. Would you consider coming back, when it is now a bleak winter day and all of the leaves are off the trees. Our county has approximately the same amount of population, with many very nice neighborhoods. Drive around in Lake Forest, Openwood Plantation, Pebble Beach, Great Lake Estates and many others and see the newer areas of developments. Thank you for this video, but come back and make another to balance the negatives that we are not in denial of, but seek to better our community as a whole.
