- Hi. I nearly didn't post this video because I don't like how the camera 'bounces' as I walk, and I think that I got the settings wrong with the brightness of the footage.
I then decided that it may contain something of interest for my viewers so decided to publish it after all.
I hope you like it, and if the bouncing makes you giddy, please skip this one and keep a lookout for my next video instead.
In this video, I walk through Rosebank in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have used a stereo microphone set up in the hope that it creates a realistic impression of what it is like to be there.

What would make it better is removing cars and adding dedicated bike lanes as well as adding more residential areas in the centre as opposed to the suburbs and thus decreasing the need for people to drive there.

Honestly speak, people in hillbrow don't know how to take care of a place... The littering, the trading... And majority of the people there are not South Africans

I’ve been living in Brisbane for the last 6 years and find it quite remarkable that, at least at the time when you recorded this, that part of Rosebank hasn’t changed much since I was last there.

Oi I was gonna be the ActionKid of Johannesburg but, ... commitments😅. Great video Paul. What equipment do you use? I'd recommend Osmo pocket 2 or Gopro Hero 8 and above. Great for steady footage as they are already stabilised. Both about R7999.99. All the best with your walking videos Paul👍.

I’m Ghanaian but the truth is one,no African country can compare herself to SA in terms of infrastructure developments none but as to whether that reflects in the daily life of South African citizens is another topic for another day

How safe is it?
In my opinion, good triumphs over evil and the rule of law is applied. As is the case anywhere in the world, try to stay away from isolated public spaces. If someone wants to rob you, they will want your possessions and not your life.

@larry sizmore the country is like any other countries it has its no go zones where you will be mugged for sure n areas like melrose arch you are unlikely to get robbed maybe if you think you can visit than go n walk around hillbrow or small street downtown you will get mugged
