is it safe to walk around alone in Sandton in the morning like this for foreigner? Next month i'm going to move to Pretoria (and will often visit Sandton), being told coutless time to always drive even when the distance is near because it's dangerous, but i guess theres still place thats still safe enough to walk alone? or am i wrong?

As a Joburger I’d say it’s relatively safe, some areas more than others. Sandton central (where this video is taken) is probably the safest part of Sandton, but, the worst that could happen to you here, if something were to happen is someone snatching your phone and running off with it. But gun related or knife related crimes in Sandton central are highly unlikely. I personally think Rosebank is a better neighbourhood. Sandton is for business, if you want to have a good time and have everything just down the road from you then I’d go to Rosebank, even for foreigners it’s very walkable and safe. You won’t even get your phone snatched in Rosebank. Also, it’s right next to Sandton, so if you need to go to Sandton it will take you 10 minutes to drive there.
Sandton is no doubt the mother of all African cities. It resembles Canada, USA...Germany.
