- In this video, I explore parts of Rosebank as well as the The Zone and Rosebank Mall.
Rosebank is a cosmopolitan commercial and residential suburb to the north of central Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region B of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, and is the location of a Gautrain station.
Rosebank has undergone a major face-lift in recent years, with the extensive redevelopment of both the Rosebank Mall and The Zone @Rosebank creating a high-end retail and shopping prescient. Local authorities also identified the node as a priority development area for improved service delivery and infrastructure. As a result, the suburb is estimated to have seen a R7 billion capital injection in recent years
Rosebank has always been and currently is very affluent, and is in fact very small when compared to other suburbs. The mixed (mostly retail and commercial area) is The Zone, Rosebank Mall, and a few other adjacent centers. It’s popularity owes to the fact that it’s compact and central, and relatively walkable by Joburg standards.
JHb cbd is becoming less option for locals lately its very dirty and mixed up, we SAns are too picky and we Love cleanest. Rosebank is standing up to be our favorite thus far,and so is Sandton, peace ✌️

We Americans can be just as picky. We would start going to a newer mall even though the old mall was only built a few years ago, So I understand!
We should rebuild Johannesburg and remove all those illegal foreigners that are making it filthy. it is just painful to see johannesburg cbd sinking in filth like that because of people from outside the country.
Joburg CBD it's like you are in a foreign country even the languages spoken on the streets are not local 😂, I drove through Yeoville two months ago after over 20 years and I don't know what they have done to that place.

Rosebank has always been the Girl, in fact, Rosebank was the most affluent suburb of Joburg before Sandton became what it is today.

Rosebank has always been an affluent area of Johannesburg; Sandton was agricultural decades ago, Rosebank/Illovo/Saxonwold/Forest town/Houghton/Melrose and down to Sandown and Hurlingham were the affluent areas since the 1930's

I remember Bramley in the 80's, near Benny Goldbergs, my uncle had a nice bungalow there. Corlett Drive, just off Louis Botha. Gone to crap now.
You Can also visit the mall of Africa in midrand, a suburb of joburg
These type of convenient malls are part of the reason why our CBDs are empty at night. Crazy amount of malls everywhere.
I'm learning that. I guess I wasn't thinking of the CBD as a destination but more of a convenient for people who are already there and those that live there
@@NomadicJayye2021 Crime is honestly a contributing factor. With only 29 years as a democracy, we’ve made major steps in terms of peaceful social cohesion. Now we need to work on the poverty to reduce the crime. We’re still working on that.

Rosebank WAS an affluent area in the 60s to 90s which fell somewhat into decline. Happy to hear it's "up and coming" again! 😂
💡A quick tip: for those who want to go from rosebank mall into sandton quickly without car or uber and cheaper is Gautrain. If you want to walk and you dont have anything important to do in sandton you can walk via illovo since the highway is the not an option and is the only other alternative if you have a car. Cheers
Nice, I'll be out there in July and Yes, I know it's cold. I like to dress in winter gear.
If you are not big, less than xxxl . Don't bring too many clothes , but have a budget to buy something new . Clothes are affordable, you will avoid going back with a lot of luggage

Yes, I think 10 days is more than enough to enjoy everything and not feel like you are rin a rush.
@@NomadicJayye2021 The city is very large. I suppose it depends on what you want to see. The joburg metro has about six sub-areas. You were just in the Joburg part of it. Theres east-rand, west-rand,midrand, pretoria, midvaal and vaal. And its all connected somehow. And Pretoria is a fairly large city with its own suburbs as well. 10days is conservative.
Nah that's not enough you gonna need more than that. Johannesburg is huge, we have the east, west, south and north all have different vibes
This video is so informative, clear visuals. Rosebank is beautiful and user friendly. So wish JBG CBD can be revitalized like this coz that area still has people going there
I think they are starting to revitalize portions of the CBD. The FNB Bank area on Pritchard Street is recent renovation/revitalization. I also heard that from tour guides.

No. I wish! It far for walking but not by Uber.
Hi dear, joburger here. The quickest way to go to Sandton without car or uber is Gautrain. It can take you from the zone into Sandton. Nearby is an area called illovo , which some people use if you want to avoid taking the highway to Sandton, but it is a little longer. If you take the highway you'll be there quicker.
