I have a lot of favourite fashion movies, but i always circle back to The Talented Mr. Ripely. There’s something about the 60s Italian summer aesthetic that’s just to die for.
Another cool idea is how the colors of clothing tell a story. It’s a little less related to fashion but breaking bad used colors to show the change in character and tell a story visually
I had an odd college career, in which I studied both Costume Design and Fashion Design. Both hate each other, but both feed off each other. It is such an odd relationship to obverse. My inspiration for my style comes from a, short time, TV host named Vampira. She was the original glamour goth, and her outfit inspired Morticia's dress from the OG Addams Family TV show. #pvv The Lord of the Rings is *chef kiss* like I said I studied costume design and whole trilogy has a hold on me like nothing else.
Ryan gosling in the place beyond the pines is hard, I like Zoe kravitz in high fidelity, I think in k dramas there are a lot of sick fits also I love mad Max 2 and fury road clothing
I’m obsessed with all the extras clothing in fast and the furious 2 . Watch it for just the outfits y’all . Showgirls may be my other fav film for fashion
First two seasons of narcos has great costume design. And any Wes Anderson film (especially that one that was set in the ocean, don’t remeber the name right now) always has killer costumes
Wow this video was great! There’s so much to dive into costume design and how it not only influences the scene but also our culture and personal styles.
you should dive in more deeply into this subject drew, i mean, you point out 3 out of 10 movies in this top 10 imdb list and then came with euphoria and squidgame (????) ynwim, it will be much more fun to see some movies in your perspective. Theres so much more to discuss, about fashion influence in cinema, this could easily be a 20minute video
There have been some movies that I have saved just to look back at what a character was wearing which would draw some inspiration making me want to buy their fit.
There's actually a lot of movie I heard / watched from the 40s - 70s that culturally had some of the designers, design the costumes themselves. It's quite amazing some of the things and pieces you find when looking at movies. Also movie I think have both the return aspect of influencing the fashion world and taking from it. Batman the Dark Knight still got the best joker, Health Ledger as joker is the best (plus the kickflip he does over Christian Bale is an amazing photo if you haven't seen it)
To some extent I agree but I do believe that movies influence less of fashion as a whole but only in niches spaces like cosplay and Halloween. I think there is more nuance to what being said and i think we are giving movies to much credit. Euphoria costume design was a reflection of the culture of the people the show was supposed to reach people were so easily able to recreate the costume design because it already lived in their closet. I think it would evidence that a community of people were represented in a show that’s intention was to mirror them. The show didn’t dress anyone in nothing new. Your point can be better made with how celebrities influence how people dress because people don’t wear suits because of the mafia movie but their my be a emotion attached to feeling like a gangster but in my opinion the drug dealers in narco shows dress way better than in the mafia.
Great video! It reminds me how 80s and 90s Spike Lee films influenced sneaker culture by prominently featuring Air Jordans at the time, and there was crossover as Spike Lee appeared in Jordan commercials.
I agree with you about a lot you said, but I think the title should be the other way around. I think films and television are used to influence fashion. Would be dope to have a discourse on this. Great video as usual man! Also, I gotta go with The Godfather as top film on that list.
The Godfather is my favorite off it. Love superheroes especially Batman. Some shows like Sex and The City or Gossip Girl have definitely influenced my style.
I've always looked a period movies such as paid in full , boys in the hood and belly as big influences based in the 90s and 80 there time capsules to the era
I dont have an opinion on what exactly was the best movie out of the top 10 lists, but I do wanna know why schindlers lists is considered among the top 10 best films of all time? Like from watching it I can understand where one finds interest in it, but what even makes it top 10 material? #pvv
#pvv Hey Drew another awesome video! First pick would be Batman and second one would be Lord of the sings saga. Also a question for you do you follow the World Cup?
#PVV I think for movies it is a tie between the lord of the rings movies and the dark knight. I really enjoy Christopher Nolan films and I think those movies are amazing and iconic but since The Batman thats been my favorite Live action batman performance. So I think Peter Jacksons Lord of the Rings might be a little bit better for me. But all of those movies are great. Not all my favorites but great and influential for sure.
Girls love superhero movies I promise you! I was raised reading and watching the DC Universe so I’m going 25 years STRONG on that hill.🦸♀️(also, Clueless for those Chanel suits have an imprint on our minds forever)

Lots of the clothing came from J Press. Underrated brand that is seeing a bit of a ressurgence in popularity atm.
Mid90s is a great example for fashion influences in Film & Television.
I think generally just skate culture influences fashion
@@SeqouiaDreamer I love how no one even wore clothes before 60s
Such a good movie I was also thinking about kids too
Mean Girls is definitely up there for it’s influence on early 2000s fashion
And Gossip Girls for the 2010 or little bit earlier (I dont remember 🥲)

For me the kill bill outfits always stayed with me
First two seasons of narcos has great costume design. And any Wes Anderson film (especially that one that was set in the ocean, don’t remeber the name right now) always has killer costumes
I’m 6 months late, but the Wes Anderson movie you were thinking of is “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.”
Once cinema became one of my major interests, I was surprised by how much I started gain interest in and respect costume designers.
paris texas is a beautiful movie, love everything about it from the wardrobe, shot composure, to the use of color throughout
Drew uploading instantly makes my day 10 times better than it’s supposed to
when it comes to fashion in films/Tv one person's style is always my favorite CHUCK BASS.
Wow this video was great! There’s so much to dive into costume design and how it not only influences the scene but also our culture and personal styles.
I always go back to looking at footage of My Own Private Idaho for cool 90s style outfit ideas. I really enjoyed your video, Drew, thank you! :)

shawshank redemption and return of the king are def my favs
Just started paying attention to costume design as of lately, a personal fav is Indiana Jones & Devil wears prada
The Talent Mr Ripley. That movie makes me want to dress like an Italian while I love my comfy / baggy streetwear.
Great video! It reminds me how 80s and 90s Spike Lee films influenced sneaker culture by prominently featuring Air Jordans at the time, and there was crossover as Spike Lee appeared in Jordan commercials.
Talented mr Ripley, dead poets society, even house of Gucci played a role in my fashion development
Pulp Fiction is my favorite. Have the poster in my kitchen!!

I totally agree . I follow high fashion for a long time now , and I remember the influence fight club had on the runway
Marlon on the Wayans Bros. show influence my style especially the sneakers.
The Godfather is my favorite off it. Love superheroes especially Batman. Some shows like Sex and The City or Gossip Girl have definitely influenced my style.
i love Mod90s ❤️
I've always looked a period movies such as paid in full , boys in the hood and belly as big influences based in the 90s and 80 there time capsules to the era
I’ve gotten a lot of outfit inspiration from Fez in Euphoria
Vidoes getting better and better.

The Irishman! I bought this plaid jacket a few years ago specifically because of a shirt that Robert De Niro wears in the movie
