My main criticism of the alien series is that it frequent ends up wth xenomorph being expelled from air lock into space (play over many times). Most of the storyline followed a group of people (miners, marines, convicts, mercenaries, scientists) encounter with aliens in various phases. There will always a synthetic, android( sometimes good, sometimes bad), all get killed except the heroine plus occasionally a second survivor. The next annoying thing is that survivor got killed by next instalment.
it sadly falls under the "disney star wars" trope of "multiple directors fugged up the continuity." it should have just been left ot either ridley scott or james cameran. or let the producers or original writer carry the story.
@@protocolsavage8506Scott is a hack. He's done untold damage to the franchise by copy pasting everything in every single one of his disastrous movies. The exact same thing over and over.
I thought Romulus was great, with my only criticism being thr “complex characters”😂😂😂😂 I didn’t care about them at all and could’ve cared less if they lived or died😂😂😂 but the movie delivered on a fun entry to the franchise!!
Romulus was fun, the callbacks were cool and the decision to rely more on the original horror aspect of the series translated well - also the set designing and tone was great
One thing i noticed was the difference between the Remus and Romulus sections. The Remus is a lot of older technology, and Romulus is full of newer technology. So it’s a literal going from alien to aliens
@@tgiacin435 sure, look beyond idiotic Prometheus and even worse covenant, widely panned by critics and fans. Yet he gets another shot at copying everything again at Romulus, such a waste of a franchise.
A lot of People hate on Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection but the Movies are actually very funny and intresting. Yes its not as Perfect as Alien or Aliens but i think it was still great and had some very iconic Moments in the Franchise. Prometheus and Alien Covenant had also some Problems but even with those Problems, i think the Franchise became only Popular and more loved by Fans. Alien Romulus was everything from the Previous Movies but combined into a Perfect Love Letter to the Fans and i really hope we get a Sequel to this Movie because it was Horror, Fun, Scary and most of all it was Alien again in its glory
The next chapter? How about the fan theory (that I postulated years ago) claiming the movie 'Outland" with Sean Connery is part of the Alien universe. We already know, or at least there is evidence, that the Blade Runner Universe is part of the Alien universe, and by extension, the Kurt Russel movie "Soldier" is shared in that same universe. By luck, most of Alien's production team worked on "Outland." The aesthetics of Alien and Outland are easily recognizable even to non-dedicated audiences. I believe further exploring "Outland" and how corporations interact (openly exploit) the populous and governments would be a welcome but familiar change. A decent story could attract loyal fans of the Aliens franchise, especially those who dislike the prequels and curious fans of the Sci-Fi genre who would accept anything that wasn't a rehash or cut and paste of forty-year-old plots. With a different lens, the Outland setting could focus on different species that humanity has interacted with, up to the Alien Ressurection movie. Namely, Arcturians who are mentioned only once in Aliens. I felt that the species' hospitality wasn't due to the culture's largesse but more like indentured servitude. Maybe it's just me. What about the "bug hunts" mentioned in the same movie? Also the expanded Alien universe mentions 'other' factions of humanity that are in a cold and often 'hot' war with the known human population, we have seen for the last forty years.. Outland could fill the gaps and add texture to an already large landscape. Why there hasn't been any fan fiction (that I know of) connecting all of the universes mentioned is beyond me.
It was probably a remake of an Italian movie from the 50's ? The plot and the creatures are very alike, and allmost the same ending, except the main character had some kind of canon ? Aliens is a remake of "Them"from the same year ? A dissapointmet for us who like true storytelling and fantasy ?
Best case scenario...Soderbergh decides to do a Prometheus-Covenant condensed-edit of ~100min to get us from Alien 3 to Romulus. Leave the project with Feed and let him do Aliens and 3 adjacent films to get us to the point where Resurrection truly killed all hope. Then we simply deprecate Resurrection and move on.
Unlike Romulus at least you can see what is going on. Even scenes filmed in the dark you can see where the characters are going, and they have well lit scenes, not that dark cinematography bs! 😵💫
Hicks does not lead the Marines; at least, not until the sergeant and lieutenant and several other soldiers get killed first. Also, Giger is pronounced Ghee-ger.
Controversial opinion of mine is... Alien, was never a good franchise. Neither was Jurassic. Or Terminator. Predator wasn't either. Ghostbusters too. And... Star Wars, was also never a good franchise. When you have 2 movies that were fantastic... game changers... changed the genres, changed the industry, and even founded genres of their own due to their originality... But they're followed by a 3rd movie, 4th movie, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th movie, and more, that are total crap... they're beloved for the wrong reasons. Terminator, changed the game. T2, is considered one of the greatest sequels of all time. T3, Salvation, Genisys and Dark Fate just got worse as they went along... with Dark Fate as a hollow fan-fiction, taking the best parts of the originals and cramming it all into 2 hours. 4 bad movies with only 2 good movies... it's not, and never was, a good franchise. - Ghostbusters. Game changer for comedy, and birthed a franchise of toys, games and cartoons. GB2... was a rerun of the original, with less character. With a 3rd movie, Afterlife, appearing nearly 40 years later... and Afterlife is a hollow fan-fiction, taking the best parts of the originals and cramming it all into 2 hours. Frozen Empire... just sort of... exists. When you have 4 movies, with only 1 of them being decent... it's not, and never was, a good franchise. - Jurassic Park... 1 masterpiece that reshaped the world of movies with the CGI breakthroughs and storytelling that rivals pretty much all movies. But followed by 5 bad movies, with Jurassic World as a hollow fan-fiction, taking the best parts of the originals and cramming it all into 2 hours. With Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom simply just being a remake of JP2, and even has the same title, Lost World, Fallen Kingdom. And the less said about Jurassic Crickets, the better. When you have 6 movies, with only 1 of them being decent... it's not, and never was, a good franchise. - Star Wars changed the game... and Empire Strikes Back broke the "bad sequel" stereotype. ROTJ, was a step down from greatness. Star Wars prequels were all rocky roads and a bigger step down than ROTJ. The sequel trilogy killed the Star Wars name, with Force Awakens as a hollow fan-fiction, taking the best parts of the originals and cramming it all into 2 hours. Then there's the 2 other standalone movies with Rogue One and Solo. When you have 11 feature length movies, and only 2 of them were actually decent... it's not, and never was, a good franchise. - - Now for the video's subject... the Xenomorph/Alien franchise. Alien... changed the game... Aliens is considered one of the greatest sequels of all time. Alien 3, killed the franchise. Alien Resurrection is a non-movie. It just, well, exists. Prometheus and Covenant destroyed the Xenomorph as an entity, but for some reason got a follow-up movie in Romulus. Romulus, like the others I mentioned above, is a hollow fan-fiction, taking the best parts of the originals and cramming it all into 2 hours. When you have 2 good movies, and 5 bad movies, it's not, and never was, a good franchise.

In Alien: covenant. David’s creation is praetomorph, genetically-engineered species. It is not the OG xenomorph. He did not created the xenomorph. Get your facts right.
Bro FOX was straight up ass in the early days not contacting both successful directors to see if they would come back.

Excellent and thorough video - thank you for the education and wonderful footage :)
Thanks so much for your comment!
I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like if David Cronenberg had of directed alien resurrection that would’ve definitely been a different film 😅
Yeah, I’m trying to keep track of the franchise too, but it’s kinda hard. Thank you for keeping it in line.😅
great work!!!
Great series...good taste in films.
I believe that the outstanding acting from the cast in Alien was not given enough recognition on it’s own standings. 👍🏻

Thanks!!!
Well, Burke isnt killed by an alien. He is taken for harvesting. This is portrayed in direction cut version.
