The UTC San Diego Mall video was one of my very favorites.
I love your channel and recommend it to all my friends.
But disappointed that you have to mention Chick Fil A in the video. They are not an inclusive restaurant!
the irony of wanting to exclude and ostracize others with differing views in the name of inslusivity
@@Bookworm214-y3d
Actually, it's Chck Oil A who wants to exclude the lgbtq community from being allowed to get married to the person they love. How would you like it if a business want to prevent you from marrying the person you love? I bet this would make you extremely upset if your marriage is deemed invalid by a major business...
I worked here at the Brentano's book store from 1993 to 1997 when it was called Century City Shopping Plaza. This mall has been through many iterations on the same footprint since the late 60s. When I worked there in the mid-90s, many old-school celebrities still came through the store: Betty White, Ed McMahon, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, and many others. "Seinfeld," "Frasier," and "Friends" were shows that were at their peak then, so I waited on Jerry Seinfeld, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Kelsey Grammer. So many great memories.
Neat!
I was in that mall in 2018 on vacation its very nice
Awesome job Chris,thankyou
Ramen Nagi is a MUST eat! They have another location in Arcadia as well. There's always a 30 minute line outside
Mmmm
Thanks for the tour Chris. I used to work in Century City years ago at the FOX lot and would drop by there semi often to get lunch or dinner. I’ve also occasionally caught some movies at the AMC in there. Haven’t been there since 2011, so it looks very different. Regarding mochinut, the only thing I don’t like about them is that they force you to buy a half dozen minimum for like $18 and change. They would sell so much more if they also sold individually. Not everyone wants to buy 6 right away.
Neat! And yes. The remodel has changed the look considerably. And I'm not sure about this Mochinut. But I've eaten at plenty that you can buy just 1
Avenue of the Stars is where 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios) is located. This the name of Century City.
Outdoor malls are always the best.
Really want to move to LA....
I was in L.A. in 2018 and stopped at this mall for something quick to eat. Glad to see it's doing well.
Hi Chris! Thank you so much for this video tour. I love this mall! My daughter, granddaughter and her BFF were last there a few years ago after the Pandemic. There were not nearly the number of shoppers in the mall and I loved it! I really like their food court, and the ladies room lounge inside of Nordstroms is AMAZING! I took photos and posted in my Google Local Guide. Do you remember when the Hyatt Century City was near the mall? It is another hotel name now, and I can't remember the name. I wish I had stayed there when it was the Hyatt. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family! CAB😍
Chris, other YT vloggers over the past year or so have shown the condition of the Westfield mall on Market St in SF. That used to be one of the highest grossing ones in the nation. However, various problems in the city of SF have just about destroyed it. Sparse crowds, lots of vacancies & 1 of its 2 major anchor stores have closed down. Meanwhile, the Westfield mall around 40 miles south of there in San Jose (closer to Silicon Valley) is reportedly the most profitable one in Calif.
I've seen other vids about London, England, where it's described as being in weak shape. But by American standards, its subways look healthy (also way nicer than NYC's), busy sidewalks (LA's malls on their busiest days may be similar). So it's all relative. Still, I can tell that cities all over the US & world (eg, Shanghai, etc) have been beaten up by a post-Covid hangover, online commerce, work-from-home, bad politics, poor governance.
Check out the shopping scene here in Australia. Malls are thriving, I have 4 large malls within a 20 km radius, all are busy everyday of the week, with weekends being the busiest. Our malls differ to those in the US, everything under the one roof. Supermarkets, green grocers, bakeries, shoe repairs, banks, hairdressers, butchers, etc. Amazing food courts, cafes, my local has three supermarkets, two Woolworths and an Aldi, oh and liquor stores and newsagents. Think that's what makes these malls so attractive.
Chris I enjoyed both of your tours of the Century City and UTC malls. I have family living in LA and have been to Century City many times over the years. It was fun to see how it is now. Wishing you, the OC Princess and the Traveling Princess a Merry Christmas!
Awesome! Thanks Paul!
i think we need a walking tour of south coast plaza and fashion island. 😉
thanks chris and keep up the hustle! 🤙
Thanks PhatNutz -- I'll add those to the list 😀
Bam that's my favorite. Also Americana / Galleria is a great one.
Damn LA / OC have the best malls. SD malls suck.
I think UTC is pretty nice now
@@YellowProductions
Yep except for that one😂
my sister works there so excited your going there
Neat!
FYI: LACMA is Los Angeles County Art Museum (not LA Contemporary Art Museum, as you said when viewing the sculpture).
Thanks for the correction.. I also make that mistake 😀
This seems a lot like a two story version of UTC! (Didn’t know your daughter turned four! A belated Happy Birthday to the Spunky/Traveling/Curious One!)
Thanks Ed! Yup.. she's a December baby 😀
It’s changed a lot since the last time I visited there.
Omg I miss coffee bean so much 😢
Pavlova is amazing. Great Aussie desert.
Wow!
I love your New Panda Bear (black color) Topher t-shirt in your store.
Im going to purchase one.
Have a fantastic Christmas Chris and continued thank's for the vids
Thanks Alexander!
I used to live a short 15 min walk from here. Loved coming in the evening to chill out. Man I miss it.
It's definitely a great chill out mall indeed
Hi Chris. Great tour of Westfield Century Mall. I love the outdoor feeling of the Mall and that is a very good food court on the top. Thanks for sharing and take cafe.
Thanks James!
Definitely one of my favorite malls in LA, but the parking fees are wild.
Yeah. Boo to the parking
When my wife was doing her fellowship and we lived in Torrance, I would go to the Century City mall all the time. Great to see it still looks the same pretty much as it did in 2017.
Used to love going to the Gulfstream restaurant. Sad that it closed 😢
Loved the video
Thanks Sunny!
Sorry last comment post for now. 😁
Santa Monica Blvd that stretches for a few miles in that area, I remember it being the most smoothest cleanest street i have ever driven on. 👍
nice tour
Happy Christmas Chris to you & your family
Merry Christmas Claire!
looks like that cheese tart place is KB Bakes? There's one here in (formerly Westfield) San Francisco Centre. My fave is the chocolate, esp when it becomes the base for their rare S'more flavor.
Yup!
Awesome job chris thumb up
Thanks Adam!
Merry Christmas Chris🌲
Merry Christmas John!
I heard OC princess. Is that the new nickname?
I apparently give her many names now :)
This mall really puts the _Santa_ in SANTA Monica.
Ha! See what I did there Topher??
Well done 😀
Great mall. Thanks for touring.
Thank you too
Hermann miller stuf is so nice
I have to watch this later but I agree it's the best mall in L.A., although I don't go there often (I live in the valley so a bit of a drive). I heard the mall is about 95% leased, which is unheard of these days with all those dead and dying malls. In the coming years there will be a subway stop right at the south end. More added convenience once completed.
Is Eately affiliated with the one in the Park MGM in Vegas?
Yup!
0:28 that poor man can’t afford socks ☹️
bow down 6:44
I need to visit this mall soon. We have a nice one in San Diego but this one beats that one!
Westfield UTC is nice... but yeah.. Century City is amazing :)
wait a sec… have i been there before??? i could’ve sworn i went to that mall with my sister back then…
Fun fact between this mall and me, this is where I went for a few advance screenings I’ve been at that AMC. As a result, this is where I met Steven Spielberg, Ariana DeBose, and Damien Chazelle.
The mall is big hope one day l visit it
Better than the Beverly Center?? 😳
wish there was no narration at all...
You can turn the volume off. And then there's no narration at all 😀
@@YellowProductions but i want to hear the hustle and bustle of the mall....make it an immersive experience.
Just be careful, a lot of crime in LA
As someone who lives in LA, it's really not that bad. Especially the Century City neighborhood...
@@AmitSingh-yw3sejust don't go to Mara Vista Projects
Wow, if this is what the Christmas trade is like, what does a normal day resemble. Very quiet indeed, should be packed with shoppers.
The crowd level is mostly limited by parking.. the parking garage was full. So this is about as busy as it can get
is the bridge still there?
You know it's high-end when they have a stand-alone cart that sells fancy caviar.
Ah I heard that the Governor gives everyone a pass on stealing up to $1000 in merch! Is that true?
$900. But yes
And I thought malls were dead in the USA
Only the lame malls are dead
How will your travel change when your girl starts school?
Not sure that we know that yet 😀
