      @M well, if you’re from Europe and want your bow fast, Grozer. Those bows are great, I have short Turkish, Assyrian and Scythian on its way. I do own Yarha from Alibow. It took several months until it came, but I’m happy with it. Maybe consider the type of bow you want, Grozer doesn’t build all models Alibow is offering. For Manchu for example I would buy from Alibow. Support is good from Grozer as well and yeah, it’s quicker.

      @M Grozer for sure. And I hav about seven from Alibow. Does take a long time, but the laminated bows are great. But I would love to order a Grozer.

    hi! I own exactly the same Scythian bow from Czaba Grozer and shoot Chinese bamboo arrows. The other day the arrow was split ahalf by the sring. I suppose this happened because my 55# bow was too strong for a light-weight arrow. Does this formula always work with biocomposite bows: 8 grains per pound of the draw weight?

    I've been shooting biocomposite Grózer Assyrian and Scythian bows for more than 10 years - with the same excitement of the first day I shot them. 2 Unique, wonderfull bows. Very forgiving compared to any glass laminated bow I shot with, but fast. And without vibration - unlike glass laminated bows (in 65 and 63 lb at 28, with only 8-8,2 gpp). After warming them up, also unique draw feeling, like they harden up slower than their shape and tillering suggest as you're drawing them back. Bows that prefer to be shot not too seldom and that also prefer to be unstrung slowly.

    Years ago, after seeing your review of Grozer's "Old Scythian," I bought one at 45#. Back then it was a big deal to get the money credited to his bank. I suppose it is easier now. Mine is not "bio" -- I have no idea what is under the leather covering. A fun-to-shoot bow that I still treasure.

We he die i got all his old archer equipment. Some of these arrows were from the 70s-80s..maybe older? Lesson is, shoot good arrows and wear a glove.

    Most people think technology evolved after the Roman Empire started getting invaded by barbarians, but the truth is the technology and tactics and equipment of antiquity cannot be matched by the Medieval period. Mainly because of a lack in manpower for 40,000+ man armies, but also because the equipment and battle tactics were just superior. The legions of the Roman Republic to the time of Caesar, the Macedonian Pike Phalanx, the cataphracts of the Parthians combined with horse archers whom are descended from Saka and Scythians, the list goes on and on. Just better AND more interesting period of time the Iron Age was.

    This bow looks awesome. I'm not concirned about the string coming over the nocks, but there is still the question of the angle of the string on the nocks. They, seem to sharp still. As if the serving will come apart after some time.
    Still, an amazing bow. I like it 😁

    • @dileb112
      @dileb112 3 года назад +2

      Yes, some draw back noise basically every time I use it, but still fine after almost 11 years of shooting. Might be a slight string movement in the nock groove. Same with the Assyrian biocomposite.

    • @daveballiet2131
      @daveballiet2131 3 года назад

    • @heikoapel5218
      @heikoapel5218 3 года назад +1

      Yes, it is the string moving in the nocks. Grozer strings have a rather thick serving at the loops, and thus causes the noise, particularly if the bow has a reinforcement wrapping at the nocks. All my three Grozer bows make this noise to a certain degree. It can be reduced a little if you put some string wax on the serving and the reinforcement.

    Thanks for the review and look at these lovely curves, Armin. Work of an artist, really tempted to get one just for the sake of pleasing my eyes :) one question. I noticed the arrows are not hitting the target straight during your speed test, you know why? I'm struggling the same with my Manchu bow which I'm learning to 'operate'. I'm lost what am I doing wrong but getting the very same results as you are on the video during your speed test. It's kind of frustrating. It's most probably my release, I don't know. I tried different arrows, spines, weight, material, same. I'm shooting short distances (from 1.5 to 10m) to work on my form. Any idea maybe? Thx!

    • @tammynfletcher
      @tammynfletcher 3 года назад +1

      I had the same problem when I first started shooting thumb release some of my problem was form and also release. You really notice it more at short range. You need to make sure when you release your release hand is directly behind your arrow and you push with you bow hand and pull with your release which in turn gives the effect of perfect follow thru not quite khatra as your having this issue with manchu bow which isn't really meant for it. But an even pressure between the push and the pull then just a little more push with your bow hand so it feels as if pulling the string out of your thumb lock which will in turn make the bow hand move slightly to the right to clear the arrow. Armin has a couple videos on this technique and one he shows you the method with a manchu bow! I hope this helps and hope you don't mind the advice it helped me become very accurate short and long distance. Think of slingshot effect eventually it will become fluid an even push pull till your string pulls from your thumb lock. Sorry to be so long winded but good luck.

    • @tammynfletcher
      @tammynfletcher 3 года назад

      Oh yeah on armins speed test he isn't using any real khatra or follow thru so you can see the pure speed of just the bow and it's a short distance. Same result!

    I never understood why Americans didn't use archers during the civil war. I would rather have 100 archers in the woods with 100 arrows than 300 soldiers marching toward each other with single shot front loaders. Duh!

      It take years to train archer and maybe a month to train a man to shoot a musket and march in formation. Also don't forget about cavalry: 300 musketers with fixed bayonets anytime and anywhere could form a square and defend against cavalry charge. Archers needed extra protection so basicly your formation would consist of 300 archers and lets say 300 pikeman fighting against 600 musketeers. Not the best odds for that medieval-style army.
