It was sad enough hearing the young lady died and then her precious dog. Then to find out her mom committed suicide and then her dad was beaten to death in 2006. That's too much tragedy in one family!
George Wallace survived the heartbreak of the disappearance and murder of his daughter, Michele, in 1974, and the suicide of his wife, Maggie, five weeks after Michele's disappearance. He lived to see his daughter's remains recovered, her murderer brought to justice, and to finally inter his daughter's remains with his wife's, her final wish. In January, 2006, George was found severely beaten in his recliner of his home. He died hours later at the hospital. What happened to this family is really tragic😢.

Too much reasonable doubt without a body. You have to convict beyond a shadow of a doubt and there was too much doubt without the body and evidence of assault
you can't do it without a body. Just like Matt said, it has to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. And if the jury has doubt and verdict Not guilty - this is it. You cannot re-try, normally, unless its hung or mistrial (double jeopardy don't allow it). That's why in most cases prosecution gets only one shot to prove it. And they better put effort in that one shot, they can't risk that a murderer goes not guilty and walks out free.
You are right and not right, lol. They might have had enough evidence, but I don`t think they felt that they did. You can never know what a jury will determine. We are jurors, meaning we are citizens. Every jury has 12 people deciding one`s fate. We, as humans have our own feelings, views, opinions and intelligence. They most often differ and clash. The smallest thing may make a person vote differently one day than another day. They might not like how a defendant cuts their hair, or the color of their skin, or if they did not get laid that morning. Very slippery slope and very fickle. You have one shot at it. You better get your shit wired tight as a prosecutor. No double jeopardy. I guess they have to look at every case and when they find weak points, they try to gather evidence to strengthen them.
Sadly, on January 13th, 2006 2 guys - Stephen Sterling(21) and Eugene Wesley (17) - broke in to 85 year old George Wallace's home and in the process of their burglary they VICIOUSLY and unconscionably BEAT HIM TO DEATH as he lay in bed, unable to move too well nor protect himself. Can imagine how it seemed to her she was helping someone in need. Trusting others - in combination with agreeableness - is what eventually had led to her demise. When venturing out into the wilderness, one should do so in a group, and preferably with at least two vehicles; for in case on breaks down.

Don't take me wrong, I don't think I could ever shoot a dog unless it was attacking a person but the farmer may not have known anything about the girl and her dog and may he not have seen the collar until it was to late. He might deal with wild dogs and coyotes harming his livestock often.
The dog came to help solve the case & thus did . Really a most sad story .... Godspeed.🌿🌷🌿♥️~B
Poor dog. I wish the guy would have taken a moment to think why the dog was there.
Lol really? Daughter kidnapped and murdered, mother kills herself, father beaten to death years later and you're all "Poor dog..." lol what joke.
@@robynperdieu3434he could have lured the dog to himself with food and checked things out. Just easier to blast it though apparently.
What a sad episode
I love that her German Shepherd was named Okie. I'm an Okie. I'm from Gore, Oklahoma and I love Forensic File's.💛
Okie was my grandfather’s name. It also has a special place in my heart.❤
the father died in 2006 and Melanson 2 years ago in prison. Tragic.
Could it be that her dog was actually asking for help? Poor dog.
Yeah poor dog
The dog could have been adopted by the onlooker instead of killing it.
It’s crazy. First his daughter dies, then the dog dies, then his wife. He deserves to meet them all in heaven.
@@thatisabsolutelykooooge2211I think he cared more about his daughter and wife’s death. The dog was an unfortunate circumstance but hardly belongs to be listed as equally tragic.
@@____username____ just because the dog isn’t human doesn’t mean that it isn’t equally as tragic…have you ever owned a dog? And if so, did you love it?
That father is so amazing
I had to stop watching, knowing her poor innocent dog was going to be shot after trying to survive was too much 😢
People like you are what's wrong with this world. Girl gets murdered, mom kills herself but the DOG was too much for you. Wow.
I feel for the poor Father & the dog. So sad.
Im So sorry Mr.Wallace.its So heartbreaking to loose two loved ones at the same time. ❤️❤️
Sad senseless killing of this young woman.. I can't believe the rancher shot the dog because he chased his cows.
What a bass turd that rancher was for doing that.
Oki was even wearing a collar for Christ sake.
Oki was probably very hungry. Not many things are as dangerous as a hungry feral dog (except a pack of feral hungry dogs). The cattle owner did exactly what every cattle owner would do in that scenario. He killed the dog. Sad for the dog, I agree, but don't throw the rock at the cattle owner.
p.s. And yes, a collar on a dog can be seen easily from far away when said dog is barking and chasing cattle. Sarcasm here.
The father is who suffered more. :(
Never give rides to strangers!
Especially as a woman.
Perhaps she thought she was safe with the dog. So sad.
Safe with the dog? 😂
Roy Allan Melanson died in a Colorado prison on May 22, 2020 (aged 83).
Yall did a good job... Every single last one of you. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤙🏾
This was the saddest episode to me. Them investigators did a horrible job!
By far one of the saddest cases on FF. What a sweet father and husband they had in him. ❤
her father grief broke my heart💔
I find it so amazing that plant and insect ecology solves crimes and brings closer to families
The corpus delicti is not the body of the victim. It is the "body" of a crime. Until there is definitely a crime, there can be no prosecution.
Correct but it should also be noted that a physical body is not needed for the conclusion that a crime has been committed.
I feel so sorry for the father...
Feel sorry for her father god bless you brother you daughter is heaven watch over you
He was murdered in 2006.
I feel bad for the girl. But the dog, he must have been hungry and confused why his owner is not around. I can only imagine the torment
Yeah, don't worry about the father who lost his daughter and wife. But the torment of the dog...there's the real tragedy. 🤦♂️
There is never any justice when a predatory killer is allowed parole, to kill again. That bastard Roy will have killed many times, he just got caught this time. Condolences to the family, what a terrible tragedy
In fact, he *DID* killed many times. Just read his wikipedia page. You'll want to bang your head on a wall.
He did kill many times at least three he was connected to more murders after Michelle thanks to the wonders of DNA
This was a good one, and kind of eerie how that clump of hair matched her photo.
I feel so much for the father, my god what he been through
In 2006, the father's home was burglarized by two men and they beat him to death.
@@southbronxny5727 Omg that's so horrible and sad 😥😥😥😥
Are you serious . What a disastrous way to go…sad
I saw this story years ago on HBO's Autopsy. It's one that I've never been able to forget.
Lord this episode 😮 gave me chills.
Sad for dad/hubby but glad the case was finally solved.
He was beaten to death in a robery at the age of 85
@@nicomancinicorleone9768 😔
Did they catch the swine who killed him? Bastard.
Imagine helping someone and they turn around and they do you dirty
Too sadly 😥 😔 sorry for your loss sir. Very evil .😪😪😪 why there is people like that? 😰😰😰
Can imagine how it seemed to her she was helping someone in need. Trusting others - in combination with agreeableness - is what eventually had led to her demise. However, it anyway was not wise for a young girl to have been out there - on her own - like she was. When venturing out into the wilderness, one should do so in a group, and preferably with at least two vehicles; for in case on breaks down.
18:02 Poor Okie, he was maybe trying to find help for his owner and instead got shot by an insensitive man.
Not "Poor girl who was murdered"? Or "Poor mother who ended her own life over this"? Or "Poor father/husband left without a family"? No, just "Poor dog." 🤦♂️ smh
@@johnnythewalrusI get your point but the dog was not involved in the problems of the humans, that's what I meant. some sort of an innocent bystander.
Ladies, NEVER pick a man up, especially 2 men, that’s completely careless.
I agree with that! Although, 1974 was a different time, but yes NOT a good idea! Especially in 2023-2024!
Forensic Files is the best 👌
He is right . Animals or worse roaming the streets.
Glad he was alive to see justice serve for his daughter .
All the episodes of forensic files are sad but this one is absolutely tragic from beginning to end
The poor father , 💔Rip an love beautiful girl ❣️
Was she scalped..??
The poor parents, damnit!!
They're all together now, even Oki, poor furbaby...💔
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Was it a wig?? I hope it was, the alternative is chilling
The scavengers, like coyotes, did that, eating the flesh and discarding the inedible hair.
@J Insanely chilling. I’m rethinking a sky burial a bit now.
And you spelled "dog" wrong.
Great episode and sad too. Thank you Forensic Files!
one of the saddest stories o have ever seen,RIP to all the family
Love the forensic ecologist 😅 who narrowed down the scope of the search.
I am a man and I will suggest and strongly advice women to be very careful if you wanted to help hitch hikers. I have been a victim myself. I have learned it the hard way not to help hitch hikers when driving alone. Be careful out there.
I ask myself sometimes, are forensic teams in other countries as diligent like the ones in the US?
No!! Not here in India
I watch a lot of true crime, and this is one of the saddest I've ever seen.
Poor dog too..
🤦🏾♀️

For almost 20 years...
20 years later, it's Thomas' narration and the music that keeps me coming back. It's so good.
Why did he killed the dog.?? Poor Family.
The system definitely does NOT work fairly of that I am certain.
When man commits a crime "God will always bring a witness", someone remind me of the title for the forensic files I want to watch it again
this is the saddest episode may they all rest in peace
OMG really. I'm thrilled. AMEN !!! Philadelphia USA
What a trip.
1:26 That's not the Kathy Ireland that I remember.
Arguably one of the most depressing episodes in Forensic Files, from the daughter, mother, and finally father.
