I just bought these in Australia from jackspoker and theyre really good! the quality control is alot better i feel as the edges are more well shaved/cut and the inlays/stickers seem to be holding up so far. I have tried to rub/scratch a couple of stickers and theyve held up really well! I do rate these chips!
@@ASword-qk4xs From what I've seen, the quality of the ones on Amazon are far inferior to the ones sold by dedicated casino/poker stores. Maybe there are cheaper knockoffs floating around?
@@AirspaceProductions I was just on Alliexpress (Actually, I just ordered some replica Monte Carlos) and yeah they pretty much have every kind of chip replicas for very cheap. The quality actually isn't bad either. Maybe for someone who is a collector or has used many chips, they may notice much lower quality.
@@AirspaceProductions have to be, I ordered some from a store called mrc poker and the quality was horrendous, colors were extremely off. i just picked up a case brand new in the box for $60 on craigs list..they really seem just fine for home games to me. i dont see any rough sides or notice any uneven the stacks seem to stack just fine. i have five sets id say this my third best set i have.
really enjoyed your video i just bought some monte carlo's because my budget is slightly low and they seem to be decent for things in their quality range thank you for the great website for buying chips, definitely subscribing
xstr8range Congratulations on your new chips, always exciting. I'd love to see a video or comment about your thoughts after a month or so. Thanks for watching.
Jon, good video(s)...just stumbled across them, wish I had watched this before I bought my Monte Carlo set. That being said, I do like my set but the imperfections are more apparent to me. In another video you asked what we (the viewer) look for in a chip, I prefer a clean look with denominations that are very readable and I lean to the heavier chips (like the Monte Carlo).
I have bought the monte carlo gold and mine were perfectly flat no stack issues and no plastic pieces (they were super flat on the outside) outside, also there were absolutely no quality control issues, so i guess i were pretty lucky 👍
I love these chips for the price and easy to read denominations. The mold tags do wear down pretty quick but I do host weekly games. The only thing I don't like is the $500's being so dark and easily mixed in with $100's. Even worse are the $5's and $1,000's, luckily these 2 denom's are far apart and shouldn't be on the table at the same time. But It does keep you from doing a Deepstack night with both on the table. Best to make sure your game will never have these 2 in play simultaneously. A bit more difficult with 100's & 500's tho. I also like the NEXgen chips, I like that their denom's go up to 100,000. I bought those to do a Millionaire tournament. But yeah, for the price range, I do like Monte Carlo chips. Good review
Thanks for the details on the chip colors. I bought a set, mainly for the design and that I could get micro denominations in this design. Im curious, what on the inlay wears off? Is it just the shiny band along the outside, or all of it? Are the printed values included in that wear and tear?
@@McormicksMatt420 - I don't have these chips any more but the inlays are great. I'd imagine the gold band would be the first to go. My friend uses these for his Craps game. He doesn't run his game often, but I haven't seen any wear on the inlays at all, after 5 years of use.
How bout an EPT poker chip review, Idk who makes them but I love those chips, the look of them from sitting across the table. I'm planning on buying some within the next month. I am constantly trying to make my poker set up top notch.
I just ordered 500 of the "two tone" Monte Carlo chips (on a clearance sale, ironically), they have the same sticker and mostly the same pattern but no white dots, they're all muted colors, and to my surprise the two tone variety corrects almost every complaint in this video. The sides are very square, but almost entirely smooth, there are very few tags and they stack beautifully. I also picked up 50 of the three tone chips, and again it's just ironic that the more expensive three tone chips still have the sharp bur on the edge of the chip, and I think it's an entirely different plastic altogether. I'm confident that if John Hobby got his hands on some of the Two Tone variety it would be a much more positive review.
I just picked up a sample set of the 3 tone and have absolutely none of the flashing or sharpness issues. No tags either. Smooth, flat edges. Maybe a manufacturing change and you got some old versions of the 3 tone and new of the 2 tone?
Could be, the prices on both seem to be discounted so it's a safe bet that they're old stock. Ironically, now that I've done a bit more reading I "almost" regret getting the 2 Tone chips. It looks like they're all modeled after Matsui chips (high end Japanese manufacturer), which tend to be much smoother than your average American chip. That said, the 3 tone chips have much more texture and slide around less when you're stacking them, I think I prefer the 3 tone now, while at the same time understanding that the 2 tone might still be true to the original high end chips they're modeled after. I'm sure in an ideal world I would want to have both.
I still have yet to find my dream chip. For me aesthetics come first, quality second followed by things like weight, price etc. I'm in Australia and my favourite chips have been from Crown Melbourne and Jupiters on the Gold Coast. Neither use paulsons too so it makes finding something similar a bit hard. They have lots of foils and holograms and things of that nature so for me monte carlos are the closest to that experience I can get.
Hey there, im looking for some mid-range budget chips....im trying to decide between the Desert Heat and the Monte Carlo sets....which would you recommend? I really like both designs, so ive been going back and forth.
John J In my humble opinion all else being equal, I'd go with Desert Heat if you want a low denomination set as I do not like the color of the $1000 chip. If you want high denomination or a full on set I would choose the Monte Carlo chips. Last thought, the Monte Carlo chips have a loud design and I am less likely this think, "..should of got the more reserved chips..." Just me. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.
Could you revisit these chips at all? I've purchased a set of Monte carlo chips recently and they had super smooth edges. Nothing like the sharp edges showed in this video.
Just bought a 500 piece set from Riverboat gaming uk and chips are way better than this set. Edges are perfect, without any signs of molding process, like its not plastic chip, it seems like they changed molding process or it is a different manufacturer. Set has 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 chips and none of them shows any dimples, no spinners, just a bit of rocking. About 10 chips, out of 500, had slightly out of center inlays but you can peel them off and align again, but all numbers are aligned when you flip a chip. I had to wipe them all because of some dust from manufacturing process. Anyway great chips, it only depends who you are buying from.

I totally agree .Here in Australia Jackspoker very good quality . The ones on the video do look inferior
The problem with Jackspoker is they only have a few options. I can't find anywhere that sells Milano or Majestic in Australia.
