- The Bicycle Hotel and Casino had been hosting the annual WPT festival all week, and the Legends of Poker Main Event was a 7-day affair which saw 763 hopefuls battling it out for one of the most prestigious titles on the WPT roster, the $3700 buy-in giving a total prize-fund of $2,738,407.

Everyone always pokes fun at Phil, and I understand why. However, it's still awesome that after all the decades he's played he still gets just as excited about it all. I think he's gone through fatigue, but has maintained his passion.

Man I wish I coulda found the nerve to get out to vegas and play there. Playing small tournaments and stuff locally gets old. Being able to play against true legends.... thats the dream. I care more about playing with legends than actually winning money. Im more than happy to break even for my career if I enjoy the ride along the way

Yeah what was Phil thinking on that 5-5 hand. Stupid to call there on the river after his failed bluff attempts on the flop and turn. Gave away half his stack on that hand.
Phil deserved to lose after that disaster call at 25:40. There was about 20 possible hands better than his 5's, Art was calling/betting on each turn which is a sign of strength, and Phil still calls. Once again... Phil falls victim to the camera.
Happy b-day to Phil. 58 years old today. Kind of amazed he hasn't had a stroke by now with the way he is, LOL.

He doesn’t think he is best, he KNOWS he is the best - as does the great majority of the poker community. He is the consensus GOAT in tournament poker for a reason, boy. You can criticise him for antics, you can criticise him for his outbursts, but you cannot argue against his results.
It's the year of 2nd places for Phil which means he really needs to work on his heads up game. You gotta be always raising fairly big pre with 55 heads up man they are vulnerable you gots to protect them!

the mistake he made was calling the river bet with only 55. He had to suspect he was beat at that point after his flop and turn bets both got called. Checking also protects his showdown value. Finally, if he was really going to call anyway, he should have put a small blocker bet out like 1 million and saved himself some chips as he clearly cannot call a river raise.
How does Art win at 23:55? is it an error in the visual cards display that they missed?
