Have you read the Punisher? 📚
I've got each individual comic book of the collection you're showing and it's great to see them presented in such fantastic omnibuses. Great content all round, congratulations!
Yeah I really liked this epic collection. Great paperbacks these are! My first time going through the issues myself
I am a lot like you. I have read some of Punisher's Max stuff, but to be honest, I tend to prefer the 616 version of Frank Castle. I miss the days when he was almost like a real hero. There some MAX stories I like but those are few and far between. My favorite Punisher story of all time is not a Punisher story per se, but it takes place in Paradise X, the third part of the Earth X trilogy where he is in the afterlife and he's reunited with his wife and kids and he, Daredevil and Captain AMerica are all interacting and he finally, finally gets to live an eternity with his wife in kids in Paradise. That's the best Punisher story ever.
Oh I’ll need to look into that one! Thanks for the recommendation :)
@@TheComicBookReport Paadise X is part of a three part series, beginning with Earth X, so you might want tor ead those first. But, yes, Paradise X was awesome.
Man looks great! I’ve been feeling getting back into some Punisher lately 🔥
Yeah this is definitely early Punisher solo stuff like mid 80s. I honestly really
Enjoyed it. The issues were a bit dated but still nice and gritty 💪📚
Personally I don't mind violence, especially if it fits the narrative, the overall story and the creative vision. There are some characters, like Punisher, where it just completes and complements the entire thing. On the other hand I wouldn't like seeing a rivers of blood in the Spider-man volume, wouldn't make sense I guess.
On that note - I wonder whether you've seen the Shaolin Cowboy series by Geoff Darrow? This is something to behold!
Appreciate your perspective I think there’s something that makes sense here. I think conversely it would be odd to have a completely tame punisher story as well ha
I have not heard of Shaolin Cowboy, what is it about?
@@TheComicBookReport Well, Cowboy does not have a real story, it's a glorified pretex rather than an actual story. It's about violence - lots of martial arts and shooting. Although what Darrow does on the pages of this book in terms of art... poetry of violence with such attention to details on the that it basically borders on the absurd. Second book has almost no dialogue, it's just one, big and awesome massacre xD
@@astrith that sounds intense 😱
I was just getting ready to read this and the ghost rider epic collection later in the day! I Really love the punisher I hope we get to see him and Spider-Man team up in the MCU!💀
I’d love to see that as well! Fingers crossed!
Hope you enjoy the read 💪📚
I gotta get my hands on those Punisher epic collections...here's to hoping Marvel will get around to reprinting Garth Ennis' runs on The Punisher in TPB.
Yeah this was a fun one! I’d definitely read more Punisher epics
I really need to pick this up, it's still sitting on my IST wishlist. So many good comics in this one. It's funny, I'm still a little bitter that Marvel didn't let Zeck finish the original mini. The story is still great buy I think it would be up the with books like Dark Knight Returns if they'd just had the patience to let him do that last issue. 💀
It was still pretty solid. This epic collection was fun I thought I’d been wanting to check out punisher epic collections for awhile so this was a blast. Story-wise some arcs were better than others but still a fantastic handful of 80s stories 👏📚
Marvel knights Punisher and Punisher Max are some of my all time favorites. Everything Garth Ennis rules. I am not fond of Rosenberg’s run. Aaron wrote some cool stuff but his last arc I don’t like. I haven’t read any 80’s dtuff. I have beenbon the fence about this epic collection. Thanks for a great review, Dominick. 👏🏻
My understanding is early punisher is a lot less graphic or explicit, which was a tad more my speed although I’ve heard Incredible things about that MAX run.
This collection overall was fun but a bit uneven for me the good stories were great but there were stories that for me just fell flat.
Thanks for watching my friend 📚
Interesting you digging into this one!
Punisher in comics is typically a hit or miss for me sometimes!
Yeah I am just starting to read some of his solo stuff
Right now I’m working on a comic
Oh very cool! Best wishes in your endeavor 👏📚📚📚
I only have the punisher circle of blood
Nice! What do you think of that story?
@@TheComicBookReport I think the story is interesting, I just haven't read it in a while
So Dominic who’s your favorite punisher , Lundgren , Jane , Stevenson , Bernthal ?
Fantastic question and I’m not sure if this is a hot take or not but I think Stevenson captured an aspect of punisher none of the others did. But Bernthal is my favorite
@@TheComicBookReport 😆👍
@@tonycrown5155 what about you?
Ohhh how about Gerald Butler for punisher
@@tonycrown5155 🤔🤔🤔
Personally, Chuck Dixon is my favorite Punisher. Gath Ennis has nice moments, but it isn't my favorite Punisher.
Would love to read Dixon’s
@@TheComicBookReport FYI, Carl Potts Punisher War Journal was probably the version with the most humanity. Not my favorite, but underrated.
@@cheeseburger12 thanks for the recommendation :)
