Thank you for all the comments. I've added some more information to the video's title. I really appreciate what Dave Hornsby did and I wish I've known this existed before 2011. There's also a comic-book rendition of "Cygnus X-1: Book One - The Voyage". I uploaded a video version of that one as well. I live in Finland and I think these comics weren't available here. I didn't know anything about them and some information I read back in 2011 was also wrong. That's why I had removed some text and had just written "comic book with song lyrics" to the title. After that I also added a link to the probable source where I originally found the comic from to the video's description box. What I do know is that the pictures are by Dave Hornsby. Three of the pages were also drawn by his friend Floyd Hughes. The link to the comic is in the video description box. You can also find a writing by Floyd Hughes there. He wrote a few words in the memory of Neil Peart and mentioned a few things about the comic as well. These comic books and also the music of Rush are works of art and should be preserved. I'm really thankful for all these great musicians and artists. I made sure that the music videos are in a good enough quality and everyone can read the words clearly. I hope I did them justice. Take care and have a wonderful day.
Teaching this to high school sophomores as part of the discussion of Goethe's Faust and the everlasting battle between mind and heart.Thank you for the accessible video.
In 1976...being a big Rush geek, I thought that 2112 was the pinnacle, but then came A Farewell To Kings, leading into Hemispheres. Just amazing musical prowess and lyrical genius. Thank you Geddy, Alex and Neil...
This adds a new dimension to Book II, and I wish I'd seen this sooner! I love that along with the Greek Mythology themes Peart uses Don Quixote's horse "Rocinante" as the ship's name. I swear Peart WAS the Sphere.
Great job with this video ! The illustrated story really helps one understand the song. Rush has so many beautiful and musically intricate songs, but for me this is their best effort. Every time I listen to this, I am amazed and moved by it. A true masterpiece.
Thank you for this. Very needed in the age of 2023. I would add other songs that other Bands warned us about the future ... but ... I will leave up to you to find them.
I can’t believe after all these years I finally found this. After the first time I saw these guys in concert back in the ‘70s, I still find them to be incredible. Awesome work with the comic book to go with it. Thanks!
From icy gumbo I've drummed for over 3 decades all I wanted too do was play next to the professor after I heard this glorious God of mine drum this album ,love you all rush nation
From icy gumbo is my name drumming is my game.wish I could get a number or related source to get straight to kristin can't figure it on new phone rocknroll is shadowing my brain to get a new rush drummer for GEDD icy gumbo can smash the cans like a np to the John Bonham ahahahaha let me try out done
You're very welcome. I haven't done much really. I only synced the comic book with the music. You can also check out the comic book from the link in the description. Take care and have a great weekend.
Just to be clear - unless I missed something really important (!?) none of the Apocalypse comics were ever published by a major company (and certainly not Marvel). Dave Hornsby was (is ?!) a keen amateur British comic book writer/artist, and enthusiastic Rush fan, who put these together as an entirely self-financed project. A talented guy, I have every issue he published (I kept bumping into him at comic marts in London where he was flogging them). I doubt very much that each issue had a run of more than a few hundred copies, and I also doubt (given that, as far as I can tell, he never broke through professionally) that they are worth anything, but I still have them and I was a bit of a fan. Of course, I stand to be corrected ...
Thank you for the information and I'm sorry for such a late reply. I originally just copied the text from the website where the comics were available back then. So, I'm not really an expert on the subject. I removed the word "Marvel" from the video's title. Better late than never I guess. I did this to my other Cygnus X-1 video as well. I also took out all information about the comic book from the video's description and replaced it with a link to the source. You can all check it out and read some more about it from the website although the information might be very incomplete and not entirely correct. I think it's the same website I got it from but it also seems they have edited the text and the pages quite a bit after my last visit.
For years I thought Geddy sang "Love is all about fear"!? It's nice to discover the truth at last. Now I know I've been singing the wrong lyrics for 30 years! Sigh...
I air drummed till I was 16. This album had been out for over a year I think. It was the best I could mimic. Birthday cheap set of drums latter... I sat down for the very first time, and was awed at my gift of playing this on the drums to realize... I've got "IT" And the rest is a missed calling conun...drum! Sorry, world. I tried... :-((
All you musicians out there - guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists - learn to play this epic song. It doesn't matter how good you play it, I guarantee you will improve on your chosen instrument. I play bass, and I love to play this, nowhere as good as Geddy, but as an etude it's one of the best.
Wait...our hero didn't wind up on planet Zagar? ;) Seriously, I wonder if the folks who created Blackstar listened to this before setting out to create one of the greatest cartoons ever.
Thank you for all the comments. I've added some more information to the video's title.

This is amazing.
Greatest song ever written. I've been listening to this masterpiece for years. It's just too much to catch in a thousand listens.
In 1976...being a big Rush geek, I thought that 2112 was the pinnacle, but then came A Farewell To Kings, leading into Hemispheres. Just amazing musical prowess and lyrical genius.
Thank you Geddy, Alex and Neil...
as they matured so did their style, lyrics and professionalism. Doubt there will ever be another ban as talented and as influential as Rush
This song really brings back memories of a life I miss!

Only Neil's words can describe how awesome this is.
I never knew this comic existed and you edited it together really well. This is one of my favorite Rush songs and this comic only makes it better.
It doesn't get much better than this, a true masterpiece.

Saudações aos amigos brasileiros que curtem Rush!
Really great idea to present as a comic book storyline. This is one of my favourite songs and I really enjoyed this
Ageless music. True classic.

Thank you. I just updated the video's title. I also wrote a comment and pinned it for everyone to see. I'm really thankful for all the information.

I'm learning it on piano lol
Thank you. Beautiful work. Awesome. If Alex and Geddy decide to get together again, who could be the drummer?

a great excuse to listen to this track :)
Brace yourselves people, here come the Caddicarus jokes.
Also, R.I.P. Neil Peart
I just noticed, I’m number 666 of people to like this video. Were all the others afraid of this number?
Reminds me of Republicans and Democrats except we have no god of balance
Great comment!
