I’ve never seen a more versatile guitar player. Look at all of the different sounds and styles he plays throughout all of Rush’s albums. It’s almost hard to believe that he taught himself how to play the guitar.
Some music gets old and tired the more you listen to it. Rush gets better with each listen. I can't explain it ... it just does. My favorite Rush album shifts from time to time ... lately it's HYF ... last month it was Permanent Waves ... before that Farewell to Kings ... before that Moving Pictures ... then All the World's a Stage ... then Snakes and Arrows ... then Grace Under Pressure ... then Hold Your Fire again ... it just never gets old ... how do you choose a favorite?
Rush is textbook rock n roll. I challenge any band out there who think they can match their musical abilities. you don't sell 45 million records and sell out concert venues for 30 years being an average band
@Alex Sherstinsky Agree. I believe ( and this is just my opinion but something tells me I'm not alone ) they're the greatest musicians to ever grace the stage.
That is one seriously good song..I know alot of people don't like 80s rush..I love it..I'm an 80s metal head..so love the melodic sound that they have..bless
I was at the Saturday night gig, got home early hours told my kid brother how good it was. He went for the Sunday night gig bought tickets outside the arena He agreed fantastic night.
@David Madras I don't "scorn'" it - and I absolutely agree about the clarity. I simply don't like it although I do enjoy much of the material of that era. I also regard it as Peart's lyrical zenith.
@@shallex5744 take a look at the small fill that Neil plays when hit's a tom, a crash and then very rapidly the cymbal behind him. This is at 2:24. It goes by in a flash, but it's the precision with which he plays it and as I said the focused power that just kills me. I guess you could says it actually ends at 2:24, but it happens quickly.
@rastadrumma as a 43 year old male who was in high school durin moving pics and signals...let me say your one of the smartest then my friend...always remember...there are those who get rush and then there is the rest of the world...your one of the lucky ones...make sure u see them live every chance u get...peace
Still my favorite sounding drums from Neil. Those Ludwig drum just exploded!! His Blackchrome Slingerlands will always be my favorite looking kit...but all his Ludwig kits sounded spectacular!! And those Zildjians just sound glorious! Was never a fan of his Paragon line cymbals. This is Neil in be ultimate prime form! (Before Freddie Gruber messed him up!) I love this entire tour!!
I agree also on the last part. Nothing against Jazz. I think it's nice. But there seems to be this thing that since jazz drummers have been around longer, they're the most idolized or most aspired to be like. And I just think that the breadth of Neil's abilities goes beyond that. Jazz is certainly a different style, and any style will take a lot of time to learn and perfect, but Neil's abilities aren't just in his Solos, which by themselves are a show outside of the show, it's also his drumming capabilites in all of the songs he makes. Take your pick.
@izzybluegoose They are all your favorite. If you have only one favorite Rish song that beats the rest, you are not human, or you just don't listen to them much.

It's true that the video was released in 1989. However, all the material of "A Show Of Hands" was filmed between April 21-24, 1988 at The National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, United Kingdom. I added some more information to the video's description box.
i'm probably one of the only black teens on earth who love rush!!!
Rush is for EVERYBODY
no, not even close. you're not special
I´m probably on of the only brown mexicans on earth who love rush!!!
@@shallex5744 eh. No. Not alone. And still incredibly special.
Sorry but there's at least a million at some point. But it's over now. Rush is no more.

I was at this show. They played two nights, i slept in my car between shows.
Best band ever !!!!!
Wow! Amazing!
NUMBER 1 RUSH FAN RIGHT HERE !!!! LOL !!!! LOVE THE STORY !!!! LOVE RUSH !!!!!

good point
Your favorite is the one you are listening to that moment. Why pick?
Mine is Signals and has been since forever. IMO their prime. But HYF is in my top 5 without a doubt!
Show of Hands!
You...don't; you just "roll with it" just like you've been doing. I've done the same...several times over. Why not?!?
Geddy, skipping around the stage while playing the most difficult bass lines in like, ever. Crowd goes nuts.
no dislikes. intelligent listeners.
back when that meant something on youtube.

I'd say U2 but they're energy has wained.

Neil Peart is the force of ten drummers!!!

THIS IS SO FUCKING GOD DAMN GOOD THOSE 3 ARE KILLING IT!!!
You are not excused ! Do you kiss your mother with that dirty mouth?

im black and i've been a fan of rush since 1982
Sherman Hemsley was a fan of the band Yes. They were contemporaries of Rush. Rock on.
.... kill stereotypes. And 1982 for me also! Signals was my first live show. Solidarity.
No better three man band in the rock era!
Love Alex and that signature guitar!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't disagree more. Too thin and processed - Rush's overall sound at the time. Far prefer the organic traditional timber.
@David Madras

Neil's mini-fill at 2:24 still gets me every time. The focused power of that moment says everything about him as a drummer to me.

A super performance from their very best album.
This is live. They're such perfectionist.
The "Show of Hands" concert would have been awesome to attend.
I quoted "Tough times demand tough talk" on Facebook and everyone thought it was me.
My favorite song of Rush :) 2021
I seen every show they did in Buffalo NY the thing I was amazed by was they. Flawless every show
RUSH IS JUST SIMPLY SPECIAL...
Lee's part of the instrumental especially resonates with me.
Wore this videotape out in high school. Such a great show 😊
Blasting this right now 4:18pm Saturday 11-6-21 Bloomington(Minneapolis),MN…….never EVER get tired of Force Ten or Rush!!!!!!

PURE EXCELLENCE!!!!!!!!!!! Simply put.

A typhoon's about to hit hk, can't think of anything better to listen to...
Detroit loved RUSH. The best.
Does anyone wish they had been able to incorporate the soaring keyboard line on the final chorus?
Brian Leichliter they had a guy offstage loading sounds to a sequencer, that’s how they did all the synth parts live
Love this song and Rush so much... Great video! Thanks!
Thank you for refraining from stretching it, sideways! If it was recorded in 4x3, let it stay that way, which you did.
You're welcome. That's the only way to do it. Enjoy!
@pablocoon Rush potent lyrics and transcends race color and creed.
1000% Agree. I love the universal themes that are relatable to us all. Best band evar!
Geddys, I'm going to play keyboards with one hand, bass with the other and sing at the same time at the last part of the song. Unreal
The powerful intro!!!
