RIP Neil Peart. A gentle genius that touched the lives of millions. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous joy that you have given me for so many years. I’m completely devastated by your passing and offer my condolences to your family and loved ones. So, so very sad. Rock with the angels and you will always be the Spirit Of radio 😞 😞 😞
As a lifelong fan or rush I'm very saddened by the passing of the professor. As a tribute to him may suggest a video of time stands still with niel featured just a thought
But wait... did Mr Peart left something undone? No, he didn’t... his life was full to the end. The real pain was dying after his daughter... any parent’s nightmare. A lot can play like him, problem is to create music and technique like he did... and his band too. Unique!
My hair stood on end the first time I heard this ,I’m 70 years old listening March 22, 2023 it never lost its power I still love it, 47 concerts live in my mind ,my kids are total fans …….amazing grandchildren 😍🥰✌️❤️ a family of Rush fans .
Couldnt agree more boss been listening to rush since 1984 and at age 50 still love them just as much today as bk then. The lyrics no other band has even come close to Neil Pearts intellect. And the music is 2nd to none. I will say after their producer Terry Brown left, the music kinda went down hill.
I'm sorry there aren't more ... more better music ... yay us ... but all I got is Symphony X, Pink Floyd or Dream Theater, maybe Dragonforce (tho cheesey), & wolf is right: so YES, & many of Pedro's mentions get the nod too ... yet RUSH is still my all-time favorite band ... (Can ya' believe all the 'expert' critics who said Peart's lyrics were "inane", etc?) ... Try some late-1800's/early-1900's classical composers/pieces, as they compare musically (called the classics for good reason) ... & modern composers have also written some movie soundtracks that are wonderfully beautiful & complex.
I have to say, I don't usually write in on RUclips videos, but you, in the most professional way, have turned one of the best storybook rush songs into a cinematic masterpiece. I've listened to this song sence the early 80s, but watching this video is like hearing the song for the first time. simply amazing as are your other videos. please keep them coming.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this yet, the collection of outstanding shots displayed here is amazing. I'm curious where Still Kickin got them, if he shot them himself or got from stock libraries? The massive amount of work that went into this is incredible and I offer a standing ovation for the effort. This video eclipses Big Wally Pants's already great version.
t- rexx .... I could not have said it better .... been listening to this song since the day the album came out and this video is perfect .... someone did one for "Red Sector A" that is amazing too !
Love Rush they make me believe in God something like them didn't just happen those three coming together was magical thanks for the incredible of my youth I appreciate you now more than ever I'm an old timer but I'm glad you were in the time of my youth what a great time thanks
Yo bro I’m 70 seen them 47 times I’m listening to them now it’s 7:23 May 21 2023 this song camera eye 👁️ has always been magic to me 👍✌️☮️ love to all my Rush people
Wow you really like rush ALOT. I was introduced when I was 19 to thier music by a guitarist.. we would sit and smoke and listen to thier albums.. This track camera eye really stood out.. And im 60 and still enjoying them .. I also liked the police as a balance as they explored music in a different way. I'm play drums etc. Music is a language on a timeless wavelength a gift beyond price , almost free. ( a little work lol ) And time. .. peace.
I go to Manhattan frequently and I know exactly what Neil is writing about. Especially when there is a light rain an you look up in midtown and cant see the tops of the buildings. I never get bored of it.
I have listened to his drum beats, I have had his lyrics seared into my heart and soul, I have felt the sense of possibilities that his songs have created. I am 53 years old and have read the great philosophers and learned from the great academics, but no one has had more of an impact on my life and my worldview than Neil Peart. May he know the kind of legacy he has left.
Me here also 53yrs. ;) No words how they came to my life close the border of USSR..no internet, just mouth to mouth between faithfull connoissiuers..RUSH was..different..have a try, wow tree guys, no promo pics, HUGE souns..they visited Stockholm 1979 and heard that Neil's Slingerland snare was LOUD..and heard to Finland across the sea (outdoors concert)..
In all honesty, I think this is Rush's best song. And that is saying a lot. A whole lot. Somebody did a fantastic job setting their masterpiece to video.
Whomever it was who created this video to synchronize with The Camera Eye is absolutely genius. I have been listening to this song since I bought the album, the day it was released in Nashville, 43 years ago. Perfect synchronicity. RUSH was my first concert- Permanent Waves tour. RUSH rocks!
Wow, you were a fan before they even recorded their first album. That is a true fan. Just kidding of course. Huge fan here for over 40 years. Their music is timeless.
911 shattered me as i watched it unfold live and i will never ever forget or forgive the evil players involved. To this day i cannot watch video from that day...it sickens and saddens me. Now as i watch this my great respect to the maker of this video. America is a country very resilient and proud with undying faith in everyone. We stand with every country that strives to treat there people with respect and dignity. Thank you very much for this vid 🙏✌❤ 🇺🇸
Thank you STILL KICKIN . The airliners hitting the towers and everything that unfolded in the minutes to hours afterwards does make me sick to my stomach. Putting myself in those peoples shoes in those buildings was hopeless. Hell wouldnt be as bad.
And side 2 being generally overlooked, in the shadow of the four monsters on side 1. I'd say some of the most amazing sounds on the record are on side 2.
One of my all time favorites from Rush for so many reasons. A true sleeper track that few people remember from Mobing pictures, as every song on that albume was great. Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight, Vital Signs, Witch Hunt and of course Camera Eye. One of the great modern albums of all time, right up there with So (peter gabriel)
"The Camera Eye" is an absolutely brilliant example of what happens when three musical geniuses somehow find each other. I still get lost in it after 43 years!
My favorite Rush record of all time, and I have all albums their my band. But love the part of the video with the words the pride still prevails in London as the guards March past. Makes me even more proud to be British, but most of all, proud to be a Rush fan. RIP Neil Peirt. Greatest drummer ever end of.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. 11 years old at the time and took me 18 months to get my first drum set . 55 now and my DW’s are still my good friend💪🇺🇸💪
Some are born to move the world, to live their fantasies. But most of us just dream about the things we like to be. Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it. For you, the blind who once could see... the Bell Tolls for thee...There will never be another one like him!
The musicianship in this song is simply incredible...the lead guitar, the bass, the drums and the keyboard...it is simply sublime...what a loss to the world to lose Neil....I’m heartbroken....Rush are no longer......but oh what a legacy....magnificent Canadian boys
I believe this is a song where all were on point with their playing... All three were on cue!!! Geddy's bass and keyboard work was impeccable... Alex's guitar work was outstanding, and well you you couldn't ask Neil for a better performance.. Always brought his A game...
Best Fucking Song Ever!!!!!! Well, so is Xanadu!!!!! Oh, and the rest of Rush's catalog. But I really love The Camera Eye. It is great to be a Rush fan.
Rip Neal Peart. Thanks for the tunes that made the emotions of life. I have always listened to Rush and always will. The camera eye is one of the most underated songs yet one of best. Thanks Rush for being in our lives.

One of my favorite Rush songs of all time, The imagery is stunning and fits this epic masterpiece perfectly. I will always love the original, but I was fully sucked into excellent audio visual marriage.

This is to Still Kickin - that was one of the most amazing pieces of collected cinematography but I have ever seen. Beautifully done, thank you so much for bringing this amazing song to life the way you have! Neil, we miss you so! Thank God that you left us so much incredible material, before you departed! The Rush catalog is like the library of Alexandria. Except this hasn’t been sacked! Gods bless Rush, and all their wonderful works!

@Still Kickin - well said. RIP Mr. Peart. You will be missed.

Nice job my friend. My kids are unfortunately too young and missed seeing these guys. They still love em tho
I'm sorry, are there really any rivals to RUSH? The complexity of the music and the relativity of the lyrics STILL astound me at 50!!

The greatest video Rush never made
I go to Manhattan frequently and I know exactly what Neil is writing about. Especially when there is a light rain an you look up in midtown and cant see the tops of the buildings. I never get bored of it.
Yes, I was a weekend tourist in NYC twice, and every city street does seem to have a unique quality of light, as Neil wrote.
