- With the 1981 release of Rush's Moving Pictures album, "The Camera Eye" took us on a musical journey across the Atlantic in the bands unique lyrical and musical style. The song tangibly describes New York and London; The long held subjects of story, fantasy and lore along with the qualities that energize these magical cities.
Enjoy!!

RIP Neil Peart. A gentle genius that touched the lives of millions. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous joy that you have given me for so many years.
I’m completely devastated by your passing and offer my condolences to your family and loved ones.
So, so very sad.
Rock with the angels and you will always be the Spirit Of radio
😞 😞 😞
Still Kickin - One of the greatest of all time. Was one of my musical influences as a teenager growing up in Canada. Rest In Peace Neil. 💔
@Still Kickin - well said. RIP Mr. Peart. You will be missed.
As a lifelong fan or rush I'm very saddened by the passing of the professor. As a tribute to him may suggest a video of time stands still with niel featured just a thought
Your video is fitting a tribute. My favorite Rush video
But wait... did Mr Peart left something undone?
No, he didn’t... his life was full to the end. The real pain was dying after his daughter... any parent’s nightmare.
A lot can play like him, problem is to create music and technique like he did... and his band too. Unique!
My hair stood on end the first time I heard this ,I’m 70 years old listening March 22, 2023 it never lost its power I still love it, 47 concerts live in my mind ,my kids are total fans …….amazing grandchildren 😍🥰✌️❤️ a family of Rush fans .
Best family kind.
A masterpiece ! Heard it for the first time at 13 years old. 55 years old now.
First concert and last concert, five RUSH tours: RUSH rocks!
Rush fans are the most intelligent people in the 🌎 world🖖🖖🤘🤘
The greatest video Rush never made
RIP Mr. Pert. No one will ever match your talents.
LOVE THIS SONG AND LP....BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF HIGH SCHOOL AND THE 80s!!!
How I miss the 1980s...THE BEST DECADE EVER FOR MUSIC!!!
For sure! I'd go back in a millisecond.
Saw them on the pictures tour.....fantastic
Best song ever, by the best band ever. Great camera work illustrating the marvelous lyrics by Neal
Rush/ the greatest band in the galaxy!
If you don't like rush you have to respect them to me they are the greatest band ever never in trouble and never nonsense.
"Moving Pictures" was the first Rush album i bought. When putting on side 2, i was blown away by this song. Listened to it countess times 👍👍
"What's your favorite RUSH song?"
Me: "Yes" :o)
Alex, Geddy, Neil,...WHAT A RUSH!
Whomever it was who created this video to synchronize with The Camera Eye is absolutely genius. I have been listening to this song since I bought the album, the day it was released in Nashville, 43 years ago. Perfect synchronicity. RUSH was my first concert- Permanent Waves tour. RUSH rocks!
The only song with perfect image .
Best 10.48 u will listen to today👍🍺🇺🇸
Still the best video music for this perfect song!
Hi I recommend a new indie song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
This song holds a big place in my heart ❤as Moving Pictures was a Masterpiece it came out when I was a Freshman in High School and then I was hooked as a Fan of Rush for Life
There will only be one Rush.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. 11 years old at the time and took me 18 months to get my first drum set . 55 now and my DW’s are still my good friend💪🇺🇸💪
Moving Pictures is an absolute masterpiece even 40 years later.
And side 2 being generally overlooked, in the shadow of the four monsters on side 1. I'd say some of the most amazing sounds on the record are on side 2.
@@deletesoon70 Yes! in my opinion, side 2 is the best side.
Best rock album ever made
best of RUSH ever
No one better ever !!!
My absolute favorite video of this song 🎵 🔥
I have to say, I don't usually write in on RUclips videos, but you, in the most professional way, have turned one of the best storybook rush songs into a cinematic masterpiece. I've listened to this song sence the early 80s, but watching this video is like hearing the song for the first time. simply amazing as are your other videos. please keep them coming.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this yet, the collection of outstanding shots displayed here is amazing. I'm curious where Still Kickin got them, if he shot them himself or got from stock libraries? The massive amount of work that went into this is incredible and I offer a standing ovation for the effort. This video eclipses Big Wally Pants's already great version.
t- rexx thanx for your comment , wasn’t going to even watch it until I read your enthusiasm, couldn’t agree with you more masterfully edited. Cheers
Agreed.....
Look what he did with " Natural Science "
t- rexx .... I could not have said it better .... been listening to this song since the day the album came out and this video is perfect .... someone did one for "Red Sector A" that is amazing too !
Rest easy Professor
This hits me real good as a New Yorker.
My neighbors used to hate this song! RIP Neil
Yo bro I’m 70 seen them 47 times I’m listening to them now it’s 7:23 May 21 2023 this song camera eye 👁️ has always been magic to me 👍✌️☮️ love to all my Rush people

My 2 favorite cities on the Planet
Damn Straight ....
Well done putting this together... Very professional

The Very Best !!
This gave me a kinda...well... RUSH.👏👏👏👏🎶🎸🎤🎹🎶
Love Rush they make me believe in God something like them didn't just happen those three coming together was magical thanks for the incredible of my youth I appreciate you now more than ever I'm an old timer but I'm glad you were in the time of my youth what a great time thanks
Some are born to move the world, to live their fantasies. But most of us just dream about the things we like to be. Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it. For you, the blind who once could see... the Bell Tolls for thee...There will never be another one like him!
Never gets old
Amazing video to accompany this song.....Very moving. RIP Professor
Love the transition from NYC To London!
A thousand years from now this song will be used in comercials, lol 😆 may be the greatest song ever created!!!!
911 shattered me as i watched it unfold live and i will never ever forget or forgive the evil players involved. To this day i cannot watch video from that day...it sickens and saddens me. Now as i watch this my great respect to the maker of this video. America is a country very resilient and proud with undying faith in everyone. We stand with every country that strives to treat there people with respect and dignity. Thank you very much for this vid 🙏✌❤ 🇺🇸
Thank you STILL KICKIN . The airliners hitting the towers and everything that unfolded in the minutes to hours afterwards does make me sick to my stomach. Putting myself in those peoples shoes in those buildings was hopeless. Hell wouldnt be as bad.
This should be THE official video for this song! Outstanding!
Surely that,s what it is !!
Couldn't agree more!
Yesssssssss i acord
I totally agree with you
Yeah fr this visualization matches the instrumental / flow / emotion perfectly
I'm sorry, are there really any rivals to RUSH? The complexity of the music and the relativity of the lyrics STILL astound me at 50!!
@@user-gy8co5qy2z truthly
Couldnt agree more boss been listening to rush since 1984 and at age 50 still love them just as much today as bk then. The lyrics no other band has even come close to Neil Pearts intellect. And the music is 2nd to none. I will say after their producer Terry Brown left, the music kinda went down hill.
Even tho I don't like them as much I would have to say Yes.
Yes, Camel, ELP, Triumvirat, Genesis, Jethro Tull, KIng Crimson, Gentle Giant, Magma, Grobschnitt ...
I'm sorry there aren't more ... more better music ... yay us ... but all I got is Symphony X, Pink Floyd or Dream Theater, maybe Dragonforce (tho cheesey), & wolf is right: so YES, & many of Pedro's mentions get the nod too ... yet RUSH is still my all-time favorite band ... (Can ya' believe all the 'expert' critics who said Peart's lyrics were "inane", etc?) ... Try some late-1800's/early-1900's classical composers/pieces, as they compare musically (called the classics for good reason) ... & modern composers have also written some movie soundtracks that are wonderfully beautiful & complex.
I feel sorry for the 25 haters,,they really don't know what there missing..anyone agree,,IM 53 and still jam RUSH like I was back in high school lol..
Rock on everyone..🤘🤘🤘
Fifteen country bumpkins with short attention spans somehow stumbled onto this video.
ABSOULTULY WONDERFUL
No one like Neil...... i'mlooking for the Best.... Neil..
Listen to this song with real headphones on- the old heavy duty that wrap around your ear with heavy bass.
Awesome montage of 2 amazing cities
RUSH IS AND WAS! MR."NEIL PEART" RUSH THE BAND, ENDED WITH NEIL. REST IN "PEACE" NEIL . THANK YOU.
Britain always has and will love RUSH x
Rock on, bro!
Brilliant! Just brilliant!! 👏👏👏 definitely one of my favorite RUSH tunes. I still remember how I felt when they played this on the Time Machine Tour 🥹 Great job sir! 👏🎸🎶🎹🎶🥁😊 RIP Professor 😔
If you step back and think, there is only 3 humans making all of this sound. And it sounds this good? Genius!
4. Terry Brown! 😅
I'm starting to miss California badly, I wanna go back!!!
Excellent video. Thanks
Jesus what an amazing visual..
Thank you for this.
Tom Sawy...who? Favorite song on this album! All gears firing on 10. ...but this goes to 11.
Have to watch this on the sad day of my musical hero's passing LONG LIVE RUSH
Just a joy to watch and listen to !!!!
ONE OF THE BEST songs ever...I'm in another dimention with one doob, one twisted tea, and this song.
OMG...Gorgeous cinema to a song with so many memories for so many fans.I'm sure Mr. Peart highly approves...looking down from above and appreciated the time and effort..truley fortunate to have experienced Rush on 8 occasions. BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!! T Y
Thank you so much for sharing ❤👏👏🇨🇦
The greatest rock band ever....i have all of thier albums been a fan for over 50 years
Right on, bro! 45 years here.
First show Lakeland Civic Center, Lakeland, Florida, Permanent Waves, 1980.
Wow, you were a fan before they even recorded their first album. That is a true fan. Just kidding of course. Huge fan here for over 40 years. Their music is timeless.
This is an absolute masterpiece. Beyond brilliant.
+OnYouGlenn Thank you!!
This should be an official video! Rush has the best fans in the world!
My favorite rainy day song tied for first in my all-time favorite Rush song list along with La Villa Strangiato
I go to Manhattan frequently and I know exactly what Neil is writing about. Especially when there is a light rain an you look up in midtown and cant see the tops of the buildings. I never get bored of it.
Yes, I was a weekend tourist in NYC twice, and every city street does seem to have a unique quality of light, as Neil wrote.
5:57-6:00 favorite transition feels perfect.
RIP Neil. Thank you so for your autograph you were kind enough to sign for me when you were working with John Jones in Burbank CA that afternoon. Sincerely ScootyMac …...…………..
treasure it.
My compliments to the Chef.
THANK YOU for pulling my heartstrings. Rush fan since '77/AFTK...you gave this 54 year old woman life...outstanding job capturing Rush's feeling on this song.
An absolute gem here. Thank you
Does anybody else think the shot at 4:39 could not work more perfectly with the change in the song?
+Aaron Grossman YES! awesome cut scene
Talking about London, showing New York... not quite perfect there.
No, London begins at 6:00
Aaron Grossman dude I'm a huge Rush fan and you're right at 3:49 a perfect cut into the next scene with the music change good eye brother
Same with the transition at 5:58
Whoever it this video together. Well done. Amazing.
I weep I weep till my eyelids grow oh so heavy but I still cannot sleep.A rug swept from under my weary feet. I will forever search for you on every street. A beat that they will NEVER stand to compete, words that none will dare to nigh compete. Oh how can one ever forget? NEVER >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
They are simply Unequaled 😊
Cant get enough of thie beauty. Terry Brown-Paul Northfield-Le Studio Quebec Canada. Neil, just amazing with lyrics / drum parts, Dirk and Lerxst then with the song ; ) MASSIVE OF THE MASSIVES this video / song. 1980 when this came, it was special, so so special..
In all honesty, I think this is Rush's best song.
And that is saying a lot. A whole lot.
Somebody did a fantastic job setting their masterpiece to video.
Rush is my favourite band.
This is my favorite song.
i wuv ew
It certainly is an excellent embodiment of them. Great video.
@@kennyevans9166 Natural Science for me
What I Left, moving pictures is the best album from Rush. Powerful !
What an appropriate song for human geography. All about capturing city culture, specifically pop culture. Fairly interesting.
Just reflecting on Neil Peart's passing. This video really serves the band and Neil well. Rest In Peace Neil Peart.
If you feel a little depressed, listen to this song. The energy will charge you up! Proud 64 yo Rush fan since '73!
Greatest Camera Eye vid of all time please, k😢eep up with more Rush vids, I wish I could put out these vid. Master peases. Great job....
Love live RUSH...yes LIVE! The greatest band in the Universe! A tune to have on a loop. THX

I think this is the most beautiful thing I ever saw made me cry
Rip Neal Peart. Thanks for the tunes that made the emotions of life. I have always listened to Rush and always will. The camera eye is one of the most underated songs yet one of best. Thanks Rush for being in our lives.
Absolutely Brilliant
RUSH is AMAZING (in countless ways)! -nuff said. Your eye candy footage is fantastic!!! What editing ability! WELL DONE!!! I watch your video every few months and get swept into the imagery - its as impressive as the music. THANKS for posting.
WOW. This is the best interpretation of The Camera Eye that I’ve ever seen.
Richard McEntee , can't tell which song is my favorite Rush song.
Rest In Peace; Professor Neil Peart - your will live in our hearts forever. Air Drummers: *SALUTE!!*
The song even without the lyrics could be about nothing else. I love that so much. The pure music alone tells you exactly what this songs about
Drum, bass, guitar all excellent!
The musicianship in this song is simply incredible...the lead guitar, the bass, the drums and the keyboard...it is simply sublime...what a loss to the world to lose Neil....I’m heartbroken....Rush are no longer......but oh what a legacy....magnificent Canadian boys
If I we're the Statue Of Liberty I'd jump in the ocean and swim for Florida. 🤣🤣🤣
I believe this is a song where all were on point with their playing... All three were on cue!!! Geddy's bass and keyboard work was impeccable... Alex's guitar work was outstanding, and well you you couldn't ask Neil for a better performance.. Always brought his A game...
My favorite Rush record of all time, and I have all albums their my band.
But love the part of the video with the words the pride still prevails in London as the guards March past.
Makes me even more proud to be British, but most of all, proud to be a Rush fan.
RIP Neil Peirt. Greatest drummer ever end of.
I think this is the greatest song ever written, it’s close anyway
Neil. No one like you ...je pleure
I just watched it again. Amazing! I think The Camera Eye is a hidden gem in Moving Pictures.
I have listened to his drum beats, I have had his lyrics seared into my heart and soul, I have felt the sense of possibilities that his songs have created. I am 53 years old and have read the great philosophers and learned from the great academics, but no one has had more of an impact on my life and my worldview than Neil Peart. May he know the kind of legacy he has left.
Me here also 53yrs. ;) No words how they came to my life close the border of USSR..no internet, just mouth to mouth between faithfull connoissiuers..RUSH was..different..have a try, wow tree guys, no promo pics, HUGE souns..they visited Stockholm 1979 and heard that Neil's Slingerland snare was LOUD..and heard to Finland across the sea (outdoors concert)..
Best video ever made
I'm 61 loved rush since I was 15. 2112 that was beautifully constructed my friend
RIP Neil Peart. Thanks for giving us a "sense of possibilities" with your music and lyrics.
