Thank you, Dr. Cliff. I have been putting off getting hearing aids for years. My hearing loss and tinnitus is from my days in the service. Since back then I have resisted looking into hearing aids. Your videos have taken a lot of the mystery surrounding them and encouraged be to get tested. My first set of hearing aids arrive on the 10th of Jan.
I've been getting hearing aids from the VA for years and would be getting a set of these in May if I could get a telecoil in them, but ReSound doesn't offer that option so I'm going with the new Starkey Genesis ITE models that are available with a telecoil. Good luck and thanks for your service. If you're a Vietnam vet like me then welcome home brother.
I am using AirPods working great for me. My loss in left ear is more than what the AirPods can correct. However I can understand speech now with the air pods. Understanding speech has been my biggest problem. I am able to adjust background noise in any environment so far.
I think the 2nd Gen AirPods Pro perform quite well. They take audiogram into account, have noise reduction, speech boost and pitch correction. With these three parameters we arrive at good results. All it would take is a software offering some more detailed settings, the possibility of a higher output volume and it would be perfect. Personally the AirPods Pro 2 tire me less than my Oticon More 1 hearing aids. I think it's the size of the speaker which being much larger gives a more "natural" tone...
@@bootmaker I agree they do not make my ears tired. I could use just a little more adjustment in the left ear. The noise reduction is mush better than several people I know with RX hearing aids.
You did not mention: on the iPhone in the AirPod headphone accommodation section you can tune the profile with your very own audiogram. I put in my numbers to customize the sound profile for me. It is excellent and free.
You left a lot of key information out. Top issue: Are they hearing aids in the traditional sense? In other words, do they have several microphones and amplify sound in the room adjusted with a custom algorithm with minimal delay to the in ear speaker, or are they just BT earbuds, that are Bluetooth attached to devices like a phone or transmitter attached to a TV? Are the L&R linked so that the microphones and the algorithms can reject the room sounds in favor of the identical sound (common mode) from the person that you are looking at and trying to listen to? Do these stay in during extreme exercise? Do they reject high wind noise (>20mph, >28db) in bicycling or amplify it due to turbulence like most ear buds do? Do they protect you from loud noises like the ones used in combat?
Truly, these items are of noteworthy excellence, yet they bear an extravagant cost of $10,000 USD, an amount that could be deemed prohibitive. Cough Airpods2/BQC2 great alternatives. This serves as a vivid illustration of the somewhat Machiavellian nature of our medical system, characterized by its vastly inflated prices that place an undue burden on individuals with disabilities. To add to this irony, there exists a cohort that laments the complaints raised by these individuals with disabilities who have the audacity to object to the exorbitant prices, evidently conjured up by individuals with a similar penchant for excess.
This is actually an advertisement for ReSound hearing aids. I already know the technology for using earbuds as hearing aids is not great but this doesn't even go into any of those options.
I have mild hearing issues. I wear behind the ear hearing aids with domes with holes. I have a pair of very good headphones. When I want to hear music or make phone calls I use them. I wonder if these ReSound Customs are high quuality like the best headphones or somehow average? Moreover, the behind the ear hearing aids I am using have domes with holes, so my hearing aids are only helping at certain frequency while I have the benefit of hearing the rest of the frequencies directly. Using headphones in these circumnstances helps with reaching a very good quality of sound. How about these Customs? Are they whole frequency hearing aids or they let some of the sound go through naturally?

I tried the Resound Custom One, Resound couldn’t make the vents large enough, besides that the hearing aid is huge, I turned them in for the Phonak Lumity Life. I’ve had lots of hearing aids over the years, by far the Lumity is the best.
Dr Cliff, a question. How do these compare to Resound Omnia for noisy situations? I'm getting Omnia (in place of Resound One, all thru VA). I don't care if people know I have hearing aids, but the Resound One was uncomfortable. Thanks.
This is very helpful. I'm getting my first pair of hearing aids this week, and I've benefitted so much from the information on this channel. But I also found out that I'm getting a pair of airpod pro 2 for Christmas and I was trying to figure out how best to fit both of these into my life. I think this video has helped me sort this out a bit.
What you offer on this video is probably true in a general way from your perspective. However I’m 68, have never been to an audiologist. According to the Mimi app I have mild to moderate hearing loss in both ears. The only real hearing problem I have is hearing speech in a loud environment (family gatherings, restaurants etc.) I use Apple AirPod Pro 2 adjusted to my Mimi hearing profile in those conditions. They work exceptionally well. In addition I use them for hearing protection while doing construction projects in my garage (much better than ear plugs and over the ear head phones) and to listen on phone calls and media from my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV. THEY ARE HANDS DOWN THE BEST ALL AROUND HEARING DEVISE I’ve ever used and only $250. Different people use and need different solutions. Thank you for another awesome video. The Customs by Resound look like a great option. I agree with you 100% that earbuds in general do not make good hearing aids. I originally tried a set from Nuheara and returned them as quickly as I got them. I have been using the Bose Hearing Aids as my very first set. They have been pretty good overall, however; the time has come for a “real” professionally calibrated set of hearing aids. No one should ever doubt or discount the need to visit an audiologist to treat their hearing loss. As a result,of,your video I am now very interested in the possibility of getting the Customs by Resound. Thanks again.
My AirPods Pro 2 are seamlessly switching between 3 devices and having used my audio gram to program them, they give excellent classical music rendition in transparency mode. My hearing average is 42 on audio gram. I’m very happy, but I would pay more to get these results without the nasty occlusion sound.
