Omg that letter of resignation though!!! "I appreciate the opportunities you gave me during my time in the bell tower." I'm dead. You are everything!! 🤣
So glad Jonathan mentioned going to a beauty school for a haircut if you're facing financial hardship. The ones in my area do walk-ins for anywhere from $1-$10 (don't forget to tip if the students are allowed to accept tips 😘). An instructor watches the whole time and guides them along as needed, so don't be scared about lack of experience or whatever. You save money AND give a future stylist a great educational moment, so yay for that! They often offer very affordable facials, manis, pedis, waxing, etc as well! 💕
I even got the top layer of my hair bleached and a haircut at a beauty school, and honestly it was fierce. I was 13, and it’s still one of my favorite haircuts almost 10 years later.
@@jvnI can watch you all day!! Handsome, humorous & a love! The way I find a good hairdresser is when I see a gal with a cute haircut I will ask her who she goes to & they're happy to refer their hairdresser & get a compliment from me!!
I used the tips from the DIY Curtain Bangs video to trim my grown out bangs today and got exactly the results I wanted. Thanks for sharing and reacting to it 😉
You are like a burst of sunshine, a breath of fresh air. They say you are a hair stylist, television personality and product creator, but you are so much more than that. Thank you for shining your light in the world. Love and appreciation from Portland, Oregon. 🙏💙✨
Cetaphil is so incredible! I find a lot of expensive moisturizers have a lot of added fragrances to make them more of an experience, but often those fragrances aren't great for the skin itself. Not everyone is able to afford higher end skincare as well. But as someone who can spend a little more on skincare every now and then, Cetaphil is the only moisturizer I've continuously purchased in the last 10 years. Obviously a Cetaphil Stan LOLOL
Cetaphil is for some reason really easy for a lot of sensitive skin to tolerate, even with the petroleum derivatives in there. Heck, my favorite facial moisturizer right now is Smartly facial lotion from Target. Very plain, not too heavy, and doesn’t aggravate my rosacea (full disclosure: I also use prescription Soolantra cream in the morning, which apparently is just Cetaphil with ivermectin).
For anyone that needs to hear it, expensive skincare does not mean better - simple Cetaphil, Neutrogena, Cerave etc, along with prescribed products, is usually the dermatologist recommended choice for anyone with diagnosed skin conditions like acne, eczema etc. and so much suffering and shame can come from being told you’re not spending enough. Here for everything else though ✨
THIS! I feel like the whole skincare craze (and by extension "clean" aka BS beauty) puts pressure on people to spend crazy amounts of money on stuff most people don't need. For the majority of us, a simple cleanser, gentle exfoliator and moisturiser is fine (along with drinking plenty of water and a balanced diet/veggies and fruit). If you have genuine skin concerns, see a dermatologist.
Ya I have super dry skin, sensitive skin with patches of eczema and I love my cetafil. Most other skin care products (sometimes ones that are even crazy expensive!) either burns or makes me immediately break out.
After 8 long years of battling with insecurities, low self-esteem, with constant fear of the knowledge I could infect someone with HSV 1&2 was a nightmare to me. I'm so glad/grateful that I am over Herpes and its stigma! All thanks to Dr. Aloha #Herpes #Hsv1 #Hsv2 #Sti ruclips.net/channel/UC_YFEEZEr1BxGkNg1d4vqww 🍀🇺🇸
Jvn, first my husband's name is Jonathan and I love that you have the same name. I went on a self improvement mission before my wedding and finding your haircare products changed my confidence in myself permanently. For my entire adult life I have felt it difficult to express my femininity, but you have helped me express it in ways that help me take care of and love myself and my body. I never thought that my hair could be so hydrated, curly and beautiful. Thank you ❤️
I did the "unicorn cut" during covid quarantine because I was getting desperate for a hair trim. I used a hair tie at the very bottom of the pony tail and cut under it. My hair was curly and longer so it hid any massive defects. The tutorial I used gave an extra instruction on how to mitigate the upside-down triangle shape that forms at the bottom of you hair. As soon as I could, I got a professional curly haircut but not before warning my stylist what I did. She was surprised that it looked as good as it did and ultimately ended up just trimming and cleaning it up a little. If someone has wavy to curly hair, I think this home cut works in an emergency.... but also consider the extra step of softening that point at the bottom that happens naturally with this cut.
I would try the eyebrow soap hack that’s it. No one touches my hair but my hairdresser. Your coffee shop story was hilarious. I watched it 4 times for your facial expressions 😆❤️🌼

It took a few washes to adjust and for the first time in my life I can actually have days of natural air drying with air dry cream and my hair looks fuller than ever! I also use the scalp oil pre wash and on my ends when my hair dries, does not weigh it down and all products smell beautiful. Can’t recommend enough

I’ve never been to a salon. My mom has been cutting my hair for 20+ years now and it’s always been healthy and strong. I think it’s awesome if people want to go to a salon but don’t think it’s necessary when you can learn to properly cut your hair at home.
I cut layers in my hair like that LOL and it comes out GREAT. I have very fine hair but I have a good amount of it (I'm even over 50 👍) so maybe it comes out well because it's forgiving. As a note, I trim it all the way around first...not very well in the back hahaha but it's long so not noticeable.

Appreciate the shout-out for financial hardship. I would love to be able to spend the money to find a hairdresser that I trust. But grrl, that would be like trying to get milk out of a dried up cow. So maybe you could do a special episode just for those of us who cannot afford the hair-dresser lifestyle but still wanna look good?
@@jvn yes! You really do! It makes perfect layers and keeps length in the back thick, I always had clients with long thick hair to stand up and bend straight at the waist while I flipped their hair over and cut a straight line across… when they flipped their hair back it was perfect.
I've been drying my hair with my husband's old cotton shirt for two years now and that makes hell of a difference, no kidding. (I have curly frizzy hair 🙃 ) Also, all my hair care products are from you Jonathan!! shampoo conditioner, oil, air dry cream serum everythinng and i'll buy them again in a heartbeat!
Hi! I really want to learn more about what my hair type is and how to take care of it. I would love it if you could do a video about hair types or point me in the direction of some good resources--thanks! Victoria
Also, if someone came to me and said they had no money and they’re at the point of cutting their own hair, I would just cut it for free. And sometimes there’s cuts I wanna try, so it would benefit me too if the person was wanting to try something new. So if you are considering cutting your own hair, maybe call some salons first and see if anyone needs a hair model or if they’re able to wait for payment when you are more financially stable, cause I would definitely take care of anyone in that situation.
I started cutting my own hair years ago because every hair dresser I found locally, would always want to cut up to 6 inches off. Not because it was damaged, honey. I had the virgin hair of goddesses (prior to it almost all falling out after covid) and I babied the heck out of with weekly treatments. For some reason, everyone just wanted a mid length to chin cut on me. But thats not what I wanted for myself so I just gave up and started cutting it myself. I am by no means a self made professional. And I actually cut my layers by flipping my hair over similar to this girl but I don't put it in a hair band and let it flow free while brushing it out. I cut below my fingers and cut into the line afterwards to break it up. This might be ill advised but I would only trust a handful of people with my hair at this point (ofcourse JVN is top! ) and they're all out of geographical range or price range. Thank God for videos like this to keep me honest and give me the knowledge I need to achieve hair goddess status again. 💚
I purchased both the hydrating air dry cream and instant recovery serum. I love them both because they are lightweight and don't weigh down my hair. I recently got a balayage done and that extra moisture of the recovery serm has really help out my hair! Also dying to try out your leave in conditioning mist!!! 😘❤
I literally travel 3.5 hours to see my hairdresser (I even kept seeing her when I moved interstate for a few years and had to fly in, though it was a lot less frequent). Once you find a good one you follow them to the end of the earth.
When I was in college, I desperately needed a haircut and went to a Paul Mitchell hair school, paid 12 dollars for a haircut told the lady what I wanted and she EXCELLED it is still to this day one of my favorite haircuts (meanwhile my friend wasn't so lucky 😅, but she was able to go back and get it fixed and the lady who did my hair (I hope she's doing well, that QUEEN) ended up fixing hers, and even thinned it out for her after conversating about how she hated how thick her hair was. My point is that salon school haircuts aren't too bad, and some things can be salvaged, so I recommend them if you're just needing a haircut for sure!
The taped eyeliner one gives your wings a sharp point but omg it is so wasteful. That's all I could think about watching it. A few hours of pointy eyeliner wings aren't worth the trash it generates, girl!
The way I gasped *out loud* seeing that razor made my dog actually flinch. I can’t 😭🥲 Also I feel like you need to be dancing in money to be slugging because you would run out of product in a flash 💅🏽
I feel like the contour videos leave out the insane blending time. Taking the time to blend and push the makeup into the pores just makes the makeup look nicer. And I have my cosmetologist license and I let a visiting stylist do a fashion mullet on me with a pony tail technique, but they obviously went back through with a razor and thinning shears.
I think there is another situation where cutting your own hair (or trimming it) is reasonable, time. For a lot of reasons, I can't really accommodate the time required for hair cuts (I could if I still had a reliable person and knew the time would be worth the effort). For example, to go to a doctor's appointment, I have to arrange for my husband to take off. Over the years I have had several multiyear "relationships" with stylists, but it's been awhile. Some day I'll be able to do it again! (And they will inevitably say "wow your hair is so STRAIGHT"... when what they really should say is my hair is so STIFF, because it does have a tiny wave in the summer). Fortunately I have a lot (volume wise) of really thick hair... I can manage a sort of textured bob... because that is an imprecise goal and I have enough hair (too much) to tidy up mistakes. I usually do a wash and dry and vigorously shaking it into different orientations to make sure none of them produce that one piece that is partying with the wrong group of hair. I have tried the flat iron curls before (without foil... foil may make it easier to keep them tidy maybe). I have really stiff hair so they have to be pinned up as I go until they are very very cool and maybe the foil will give me that finger sparing second to transfer them from iron, to pin/clip. HMMM
I love watching your videos, it always makes my day better! You speak the truth and you are hysterical! Love you! Now I need to go get some Taco Bell! 😂🔔
That girl you said was good at cutting her own hair cut way above her fingers....sock curls my nan used to do to me with rags like bits of cut up cloth it's an old fashioned thing that gen z girls are trying to claim as their idea when my nan was doing it in the 50s lol 🤣🤣

hi do you have any tips for styling medium thick fine hair... I've never found anyone that understands my hair :(
Love you, love your products. They're sooooo good!
Do you have a favorite?! 👀
I like the cotton tee shirt idea but why is it better than a terry cloth towel?
Both will work but the cotton can be great at controlling frizz!
The taped eyeliner one gives your wings a sharp point but omg it is so wasteful. That's all I could think about watching it. A few hours of pointy eyeliner wings aren't worth the trash it generates, girl!

I love your videos! And I just recently purchased your product. Can I just ay AMAZING! 💜
What’s your favorite????
@@jvn I love the air dry cream! And the instant recovery serum and the hydrating conditioner and shampoo! Their life savers!
Yay..... YAy...... YAYYYY!!! ❤️❤️
I love your personality! You are so much fun to watch.
Love your videos
So glad!!
I looooove you 😂❤
That girl you said was good at cutting her own hair cut way above her fingers....sock curls my nan used to do to me with rags like bits of cut up cloth it's an old fashioned thing that gen z girls are trying to claim as their idea when my nan was doing it in the 50s lol 🤣🤣
Mint chlorophyll actually taste good especially added to chocolate milk
JAIL for that girl with the razor!
