I'm a 50 year Derby County fan, but an Australian who has followed Ange's career, knowing full well that he's one of the best in the world. Spurs, like Celtic previously, have become my second team, not just because Ange is Australian but because his teams are a joy to watch. I get genuinely excited for their games, and as you have learned, Ange's teams, regardless of how many are injured or who and where they are playing, will walk onto the pitch convinced they can win.
I laughed when unknowledgeable fans couldn't understand his tactics vs Chelsea when he was down to nine men. Ange is shrewd. He knew it was more valuable to sacrifice a point in order to establish a culture.
In the toughest and most competitive elite league in the world, you now have the right man to bring you success.

When we got off to that undefeated start everyone said, "what if Maddison goes down? Van Der Ven? Romero? Bissouma... he is the Key...? Sarr? Kulu? Etc." As if losing just one would tumble the house of cards. We've lost all of them and are still just five points back of 1st place and even for 4th.
    Now, Son is in Asia.
This has to be the best inaugural managerial seasons in premier league history. Ange has been fantastic.

Hopefully next season we will see a fitter more clinical player when they have the whole off-season to work on him

The draw flatters Man U. Spurs had five of their first choice starting eleven absent and some of those that did play insisted on coming back early from injury, whilst a couple more had been unwell during the week. Despite all that, Spurs had 65% possession and kept Man U confined in their own half for large periods, particularly in the second half.
Rashford caused our defence problems with his speed, Garnacho was their most creative player, whilst Mainoo was solid in midfield and 36 year old Jonny Evans was their best defender, though to be fair Dalot wasn't bad either. The rest of them looked clueless. Bruno Fernandes did his usual huffing and puffing, asking Eriksen to do anything defensively was a waste of breath and frankly, Spurs gave a shaky-looking Onana an easy afternoon.
All things considered, it was a decent display of Angeball that clearly demonstrated ten Hag's failure to impart a defined style of play on his team nearly two years in. Romero and van de Ven showed us what we've been missing defensively, Hojbjerg had his best game in a Spurs shirt in ages, and Rodrigo Bentancur ran the show. On another day without all the absences, Spurs would have shown Man U up for the mediocrities that they are.

Sanchez, Hugo and Dier used to be popular targets but they've gone and now the mantle is with Davies, PEH, Skipp or Johnson ... what makes it really sad and pathetic is the thing that they hate the most is when one of those players puts in a good performance when called on, or as in the case of Davies, a string of good performances ... when it happens they put away their keyboards and keep their heads down but you can just sense they're still there festering away

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned it already but I feel we’ve seen a complete overhaul in Cuti Romero’s love of THFC this season - again possibly thanks to Big Ange’s decision to reward him with the joint Vice-Captaincy / leadership role.
I reckon Cuti pushed himself to take part in this fixture. It’s great to see players really pushing themselves to get back at the earliest opportunity. We are lucky to have a group, spearheaded by our South American contingent, who are willing to give everything for the shirt.

Ange has taken away the fear from Spurs and placed it in on the PL. Any team knows that Spurs now have a team that can compete. The injuries and suspensions was a blessing. As it means that all 25 players now has played in the Ange system and know what do to. Means when subs are made Spurs wont skip a beat. If KP looks at what's happening at Spurs how Ange treats the players he should be asking to be taken to them. Gary N saying Spurs could finish 3 or 2 once they get all there players back did put a smile on my face as its something i have been saying for months now.

Really enjoying the videos as a Norwich fan whose family are all Spurs so always got an interest on them. Regarding Jonny Rowe, last season unfortunately he had a major injury which is why he barely featured last year, but showed us real potential in his prem cameos. This season injury free he has kicked on with regular game time and is a magnificent player (reminds us of the year we had James Maddison in the first team) Like Ali said, can comfortably play on the left or right side and is equally comfortable with both feet shooting and dribbling and has constantly turned up for us this season. He can drift in and out of games and defensively needs to help his full back more but he is going to a top, top level player and he's still just 20. Norwich have offered him a new deal but in the summer he only has a year left so I can see him moving up a level very soon, he's also a London lad so I can image he would love to move to Spurs and under Big Ange who looks like he can get the best out of most players.

Really insightful perspective on the game (as always) Mr Gold. Have admit I didn't understand the role that Skipp was playing so high up the pitch.
On balance this is a huge result, particularly with returnees and new signings playing before the 2 week break.
Really optimistic about the rest of the season

As Spurs fans (as your obviously aware) we’ve been starved of any meaningful success for far too long.
Pre-Ange we were served a defensive platter of dross from the previous two a-holes (not including Nuno but he added to the sh*t sandwich).
So it’s understandable that we’ve been drawn to Ange’s ethos.
But to slag off young players is beyond me. How does that help? How many times have we seen previously written off players come back and make significant strides? How does spewing vitriol via a keyboard help that turnaround? It’s backwards.
Every player, even the at times frustrating ones (looking at you Hoijberg) has risen to the challenge and now looks like they can do a solid job in this system.
It has been and continues to be an exciting time to be a Spurs fan. Long may that continue.

Ange will know you can have as much beautiful play as you like, but again lacking the nous for the final ball, some phases had 5 spurs shirts in the box, we just could not find one of them time after time. If we get some composure we will improve out of sight. To be fair since the Chelsea game Ange and the players have taken every challenge on the chin, well done boys ✌

One thing I did enjoy after this game was looking at some of the Man United fan RUclips posts .
They all pretty much said the same thing when they saw the team sheet and thought this is going to be an easy win for Man U .
After the game they were saying something different . The fact that they had been bossed for most of the game by what was effectively a Tottenham B team .
They were just grateful that Son and the rest weren’t there otherwise they would have been absolutely destroyed .

    Alasdair,
Let’s put some context into our injury challenges.
Of the “top6-8” squads we are the only one not in Europe.
So as much as we have challenges to overcome, as we build our squad for the future, we should be thankful that we have a slim down schedule.
Great reviews, watch on RUclips from Florida every week.
From Wood Green born and raised.
You make Spurs feel a little closer for us Ex Pats here in USA
I can’t even begin to think what we would do if we had Champion’s League next week!!!!!!!!

Thought we really did play much better than Man Utd with huge performances from Bentancur and Udogie, and a special mention for Skipp. Porro surely must be the player to take corners now as he delivered the ball into the danger area virtually every time. Thought Bentancur had taken one touch too many before unleashing a missile of a shot for his goal. Very pleased with that performance and could have been three points rather than just the one.

It's great to listen to all updates from you as usual, Ali. I do think that we are just getting to enjoy a season that has taken us all by surprise, and I, for one am hoping for the best possible ending to this one. I love the fact that next season will be of exactly the same ilk, the only real difference will likely be that we will already start to have expectations. Ange, I know, will relish the challenge, I just hope we get even more squad additions for that start, and bring trophies to this team, that I already feel is starting to earn that prize. Please let our fortunes turn from now onwards. Everyone needs a bit of luck in a season, and we seem to be getting more than our share of bad.

Hi.I thought that you could see the style of play Ange is instilling, not only in the starting eleven, but throughout the whole squad. For Skippy to come in and dominate Erikson and Fernandez, brilliant; he has shown what some game time means to his input to the team. You couldn't see what United were trying to do, no press, no possession , just counter attack AT HOME. For Ten Haag to say they conceded soft goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is really under pressure. Great insight from you.Cheers Nick

Going by that game, Werner looks a very technical and intelligent player, and fitted right in. He's a quality player, but he's not or no longer a goal scorer. I imagine he'll link up well with other technical players like son, bentancur and maddison.

Ah it’s lovely to have another video Alasdair.
I was at the game. I thought that, under the circumstances, Spurs were very good and the Spurs travelling fans were excellent.
Consider the fact that Ange had the same midfield three as Conte had last season: Skipp; Hojberj and Bentancur. And Conte had Kulusevski; Kane and Son in front of them. Conte was rubbish.

    • @T_J_
      @T_J_ 8 месяцев назад

Anyone would think that Conte got us relegated the way some of you types go on. Conte had players shoved at him that didn't fit his system and you're surprised that things didn't work out? Really?
If Ange had to put up with what Conte did (including emergency surgery & the death of a very close friend) maybe things wouldn't be going so well for him either.
Despite all that, Conte's average position was still 4th.
And I'd argue that without his outburst, Levy may not have backed Ange just like he failed to back 23 years of managers.

Thanks, Ali. The only issue with Brennan for me was how much he allowed WanB to cut in front of him to intercept. The one time he came for the ball he got WanB put on a yellow. Hands behind the back for defenders limits their mobility. If you ever get the chance to ask a defensive coach if there could be an alternative since refs aren’t supposed to call handball if your arms are in a natural position. Just curious since a pundit said that’s advantage attacker when the defender has arms behind his back. Good game and good point considering the squad situation. Thanks again! COYS! 🙏🏾👍🏾

Hi Ali, Sunday's performance was great. However, with the inconsistencies of Man U, it feels like we dropped 2 points.
I appreciate that we had people returning and others missing, it still feels like we missed a trick though.
In terms of how far we've come since Jan 23, its lightyears ahead. What was our feeling at the start of the season... improvement. So to now be disappointed at drawing with Man U at Old Trafford, is a weird feeling.
One thing I'm sure we've all noticed, is that in a short period, Ange has got people playing the same football. Having a team that's interchangeable is how you win trophies.
I believe the pulling power of Tottenham now will lead us to landing the players that Ange wants.
It feels great to support this team, exciting times ahead.

We are a work in progres Nd its lot of fun. Yes we were loud in the away end. Old Trafford is old and quiet like a retirememnt home.

Certainly in the last sixty or so years I’ve been following Spurs that seems to be the case. If you don’t have a foreign name and/or cost an arm and a leg, some so - called fans give them unfair stick. Imagine if HK had a slow start to his first team career? He would have gotten dogs abuse thereafter. COYS 😊😊😊

Everyone remember the Richarlison/Romero slight beef they had with each other before Richarlison joined?…now they are like two aggro brothers joined at the hip and I love it 😂. All this talk there would be disharmony etc, but the opposite happened, it’s like two villains joined to support each other during their story arc. This team feels so much like a true family now not just a football team. I don’t doubt for one second that Timo will stay permanent because why wouldn’t you take him for 15 million at the end of the season? He wasn’t his best against United but he will get so much better and he knows the fans like him and have shown our support heavily. I also think Ange had to use him in sonny’s usual position because of no one else, but when our full team are back he will be utilised more central.

20:18 The name on the back of the shirt through to the Fulham reference... This kind of justifies him picking a second string in the Carabao Cup. He wanted the badge on the front to define the way they play, not the names on the back.
They proved that they weren't ready, but he gave them their opportunity. Ange learned a lot that night and instead of dismissing the second-string players as being not good enough, he coached them so that he could use every player in his squad.
Imagine what it will look like when he's had enough windows that every player in his squad is there by his choice.
