    Regards Werner, I’m reminded of Thomas Broich at Brisbane Roar. Player who had talent but for whatever reason was not performing at the optimum in Germany. Ange got word of him, brought him in, and Broich went on to become a legend of the young Australian A League. Sure, different level, but the principle is the same. I’m betting Werner will shine. ✅

      And I can't believe I am saying that but Davis and Emerson have been such a shock on how good they have been and less likely to give away a penalty or get booked. Shocked

    • @jacklane3679
      @jacklane3679 9 месяцев назад

      @@majcas84opportunity loss would suggest that a decision has been made which prevents us from making a better one later. The win-win scenario for us is that we haven't made a decision because it's a loan and leaves our options open.
      We have more than enough U21 and homegrown players to register Werner and more foreign players, it costs nothing but wages to bring him in and two of our highest paid players have left recently, he can play multiple positions where we're bringing in Gil and Scarlett right now, and if he does start banging them in the fee to keep him in the summer is tiny, but if he doesn't we part ways at no cost.
      We won't be able to afford the fees clubs will want to get their best goal scorers in January, and even if an opportunity does come up, the Werner loan deal doesn't affect that at all.

    The way I look at the Tottenham front 3 and how Ange manages it is almost like a Major League Baseball pitcher. Sure having a true get by you fastball like Harry Hane was nice, but each player Ange has as front three options is almost like a different pitch to keep the opponent guessing how he’s going to attack. Kulusevski is that sweeping curve that bends the ball away from the keeper. Son is a two seam fastball that goes fast and darts in, etc.
    Timo just adds to that mix.

    There is zero risk to Spurs on this deal, and most imprortantly, as you say Alasdair, Ange wants him. It's a smart January type deal, you rarely sign a 'big' name in this window and we need something positive to happen in the final third. Other teams fans are already bemoaning why Spurs have moved so quickly on this. So get Dragusin this week (especially afater Davies injury) and already a very good window for Spurs.

    Think this will turn out well for both Spurs and Werner! Love your videos, and I`m proud to be a Spursfan when I see how you represent Spurs in the way you talk and conduct through the videos. Always respectful about players and other teams. Even in tough times, just like Big Ange, taking the difficulties that occurs in a decent way, in the opposite of the dark Jose/Conte period. Like Rocky says, keep on punchin`! Thank you, Ali! C⚽️YS💪

      Totally agree, and who hasn't had a hard time at Chelsea in the last 3 years? The front 3 who won the champions league were Werner, mount, havertz all of them them are good players that were just stuck in a basket case of a club.

    Great video Ali, thanks very much.
    At the risk of stating the obvious, as a fan, I don't give two hoots if Ange (or any manager) is evasive around injuries; I think that the 'issue' very much an 'in-journalism' thing. If an opposing team isn't preparing for a player because they think he's injured, that's a good thing for Spurs, and journos feeling upset because they weren't told everything is something I think Spurs fans can live with.

    • @AlasdairGoldjournalist
      @AlasdairGoldjournalist  9 месяцев назад

      It's not so much that, it's that not all fans are like you. There's a constant need from many to know when a player is back or who is injured. I wonder if it's partly due to the increase in fantasy football. Either way, as I say in the video it's absolutely Ange's right to keep stuff to himself for tactical reasons.

    Werner has chosen Ange's Tottenham (who were 8th last season) over Manchester United (who were 3rd last season).
    Dragusin is waiting for a response from Ange's Tottenham (who were 8th last season) over Napoli (who were 1st last season and still in UCL contention this season).
    Just think about that for a second.

      The conclusion is that Ange-ball has put us into a far better bargaining than we had in the summer (when we still did incredibly well, despite the awful atmosphere that surrounded the club towards the end of last season). It is not just Spurs supporters who are optimistic - potential transfer targets are also impressed!

  • @JRoss485
    @JRoss485 9 месяцев назад +2

    Ali, you are a perennial optimist. I loved your analysis on Werner. I hope you're right about him. He will bring more experience up front which, given injuries, I think we need. I think he will be a better option than Gil.

  • @dudleyb8774
    @dudleyb8774 9 месяцев назад +7

    Werner needs minutes and encouragement. He wasn't getting either from Thomas Tuchel. If the fans get behind him and with Postecoglou's interest and support he could do very well. If nothing else, you get a player who can play three positions across the front.

  • @phillipallaway7306

    Struggling to find a downside to this loan deal. I trust Ange will get more out of Werner than Chelsea did. He will suit the game style and clearly will have a point to prove. If it doesn't work out, it will still help to fill a temporary gap up front. The inability of the current attacking options to finish is clearly worrying Ange. Can't be relying on fullbacks to score. I suspect, like you, it is a fall back to a longer term deal for Jota who would doubtless be more costly and may be harder to extract from Saudi.

    The funny thing about Porro was I was thinking this was the worst I've seen him play since his debut almost, his corners were terrible, free kicks a waste of time and then out of the blue he scores a fantastic goal. To be honest not many of the team delivered the goods Bentancur, Brennan Johnson, Royal, Udogie and Davies being the exceptions. It was good to see Dane Scarlett play some minutes especially as Veliz is now out and Sess back after a year irrespective of what happens with him, good to see him back. As for Werner coming in it's seems like a good deal to me, Hugo Lloris salary will take care of his and with Son in Asia we're going to need all the help we can get up front, all of our forwards need serious help with their timing he'll be no different. As for the Dragusin transfer I don't think that's going to happen too much penny pinching and I think it's Juventus have offered money and 2 players for him, it's been a week already they've dropped the price 5 million for Levy, he should just pay it and get the deal done. Hope I'm wrong about Dragusin but certainly not holding my breath good job VDV is back, looking forward to a better draw for round 4 have a great week, stay healthy, take care of yourself.
