In the space of a couple of videos we've gone from the arturia Astrolab zero knob twiddling to this twiddle every knob and throw in some cable patching too...I know which one seemed more fun to me
@StarskyCarr we all enjoy a good tinkle now and then. I generally tinkle on my wavestate SE even though it has plenty of potential for diving I tend to enjoy the sound and ease of musicality it brings out.
I play my Behringer Poly D & my Korg SV2 together as my pretend (cheapER) rhodes + moog setup, and I enjoy tinkling with one synth whilst I twiddle with the other… does that make me a knob?
@@enochroot9438 oh you have an SE version… how marvellous! I’d love to get my hands on a shiny knob or two, but sadly my “first generation” wavestate is lacking in that department. But does that make me a twiddler or a tinkler… or indeed something more questionable? 😂😂😂
Thank you for this review, nice sound and workflow, I compare it to the MFB dominion 1 (3 notes paraphonic) pure analog and heavy sound . The only thing I miss with taiga is the patch saving capability. Efx is a nice addition but less critical on this type of synth where you have so many way to build a patch … ruclips.net/video/i_tIDPxs9oQ/видео.htmlsi=GcgyIIXsu2tH0r1Z
Sounds very modern, very clean and précise. But with lot of soul not like modern synths generally ha ha Thank you for the demo. As usual with you is very instructiv.
Really a good sounding filter I think. Also a lot of routing versatility. Thank you for the great review! 😍👏🏻🔥 Hope that they do a version with Programmavle Presets 🌸
Wondering which one I’ll eventually buy. Now, after watching this superb video: the Taiga. After watching a Mantis video: the Mantis. And no, I don‘t have space for both. Help!
@@RayyMusik I’d probably go mantis for presets plus it sounds awesome. I had an og taiga. If I want a couple eurorack modules I’ll just buy a mini case and use is with my other semi modulars
@@TwinCitiesOxygen Sure, I‘m also more inclined to make presets than disposable patches. But isn‘t the basic sound (oscillator, filters) of the Taiga warmer, more organic? I really like it. 🤷♂️
I thought the Taiga was a neat fusion of sensibilities in module form. I moved on from it as a curiosity. But in keyboard form, I’m finding myself more and more drawn to it as an alternate-universe Buchla-collab Mini Moog… Like… so many people decide they’re team wave-folders and LPGs, which have more complex interactions especially when routed with feedback; so many others decide they’re team oscillator with filter and envelope for the immediate accessibility. But why not both?! That’s what I loved about the Opsix; the way it combined all these sensibilities, in a fun and unique way. This strikes me as similar, but analogue and semi-modular rather than digital with a mod matrix.
Great video. I've had mine for a month but am experiencing really weird things when midi - 5 pin or usb - is connected. Notes sent over midi play pack four octaves higher! Some random stuff as well. I'm hoping for a replacement as this is unworkable. I trust you didn't come across anything like that?
I’ve noticed whatever I record via midi is either 1 or 2 octaves higher and I need to hit the octave - button to get it to the correct octave. Seems it’s sending the central octave and not taking the transpose into account. All the demos were recorded live so I hadn’t recorded midi when I made this.
@@StarskyCarr sorry to hear that - I hoped mine was a one off problem but if that's the norm I'm not really happy. I sold the desktop version - which worked correctly over midi to "upgrade" to the keyboard. :(
Happy to report I have a replacement which seems to be working perfectly - apart ftom the midi stuff which they have given a very long techie explanation for and which they hope to fix.
yeah proper new to modular stuff here.... and just bought this synth and now feel a bit lost. So is it right the preamp only comes into play once patched in?
yes. if you take the output of the dynamics processor and patch it into the preamp it'll feedback and create some nice crunch.. or just try single oscillators or external kit etc.

I’m a natural twiddler … but get the astrolab thing. I have a Korg SV-1 I use when I want to tinkle not twiddle.

i'd spend some cheddar on this
When you have time to enjoy the journey as much as you enjoy the destination, you can't go wrong with Taiga keyboard.
Nicely put.
Sexy beast (the Taiga ;)
Thanks for clarifying 😂😂
latent monosynthesist!
Next on my wishlist with a Endorphines Ghost and.... something else that's 8 HP wide, excited.
really nice synth, torn between this and the pwm mantis myself. do not have room for both :( lol
Seems like a great synth with modular Eurorack option built in.
Love it

Funny, I was thinking space in 1960 television, so there you go.

Wondering between this and the mantis who will be best synth of the year
