Frank Tashlin, who wrote the Screenplay had a background in animation. He directed some of the early Porky Pig cartoons and the first Fox and the Crow cartoon. He graduated to live action comedies, and eventually directed Jerry Lewis comedies.
How did I miss this gem for 62 years??? Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time! Outstanding job on the part of the cast. And whoever dreamed up the whole wacky thing had quite the imagination!
Carol Burnett is in a similar mould to Lucy, and they worked well together : please look for sketches on The Carol Burnett Show. Here, in The Fuller Brush Girl, see at 7 minutes "in", a classic Lucy scene with exploding telephone switchboard😊. Lucy's face is SO expressive ! 😊 🇬🇧🎄💙🏆💥💨 🎧💥📞😊🎄🇬🇧
I used to live in a small one bed room apt. It was at a marina on an Island in Washington state. I lived there for about seven years for 400 a month back in the early 2000s. One sunny day I walked down to the docks and was just kickin back enjoying how beautiful it was. An old lady probably in her late eighties or older walked up to me and said young man do you live in that apartment and I said yes I do. She said to me that she had lived there years ago and that it was the best place she ever lived. She said that she had lived all over the world even on the French Riviera and no place that she lived was better then my little apartment. I was very surprised by that statement but I had to agree it was a beautiful place to live.( It was on a small cove with a state park on the other side of the cove so it was quiet and peaceful and beautiful.) Later that day my landlord the owner of the marina and a close friend said "do you know who that was? I said no I didn't, but she was very nice. She said it was Jamie Fuller of the Fuller brush company fortune. That explained her living all over the world.
Oh my. I never knew Eddie Albert and Lucille Ball did a movie together! Lucille dressed up to sneak into the theater!!! Dancing a burlesque routine!!! Running around in a short costume afterwards, getting drunk trying to stop wine from pouring out of s barrel ... 🤣 She wore the first publicly viewed mini skirt too. What I mean is, the first time a mini skirt would have been worn on a public street in the movie. (A short skirt would have been worn when a character was in a play or a show.) And Eddie's comedic timing was great also. Very funny movie with more twists and turns than a mountain road! A great movie. Thanks for posting it.
I just saw this movie yesterday for the first time and I can’t remember when I’ve laughed so hard! what’s amazing to me but not surprising .. is how naturally funny Lucille Ball is. she was truly gifted. in my opinion .. I can see how she went from being funny to mastering her comedic talent with “I Love Lucy!” she started with funny and crafted hilarity. these movies were just a taste of what she had to offer! she truly was the queen of comedy 🎭
OH my gosh, I laughed so hard. Saw it before, couple times, but always forget how dang good it is. Lucy is priceless, and Eddy too. Funny all the way through, and a strong ending: extinct nowadays in cinema.
Wow a great and wonderful movie I love Lucy and eddiie Albert these were great movies that you don't see anymore I miss all of these great movies r.i.p Lucy and eddie
This slapstick comedy by Lloyd Bacon was done perfectly! It reminds me a lot of the Bob Hope murder comedic series that he did. You can see early Lucy facial expressions and slapstick comedy that she became known for.
I really enjoy these old black and white movies. This was a great mystery comedy with America's favorite redhead Lucille Ball and her partner Eddie Albert. Fun to watch her go from one mess to another. Thanks.
Crazy, slapstick crime drama. Never seen Lucille Ball in film before. Funny and light entertainment. Thank. Love black and white movies. Classics are great.
One of the funniest movies I have ever seen in my life.I put on the DVD whenever I am feeling blue.Lucy sneezing on the bus has me roaring with laughter every time, as does the baby-sitting scene.
Wow! Lucy so young,,,stunning. And her voice was higher as it hadn’t dropped from all the cigarette smoking. And they seemed to do all of their own stunts!!!!! I wonder if Lucy got hurt at all. You can see how she went into comedy. She saw it here, and Eddy. She was at the right place, at the right time, many times. Our lives would Be a lot sadder without Lucy. She sure was something! RIP, dear one, she’s probably making the angels laugh:)
Loved the little cameo by Red Skelton. He ha recently done a big hit for Columbia, ''The Fuller Brush Man,'' and the studio brought him back for this ''sequel.''
Eddie Albert received a bronze star with V for his actions as a naval officer at the battle of Tarawa. He saved the lives of many Marines who were forever grateful.
@@susanfaulkner2304 Eddie Albert, Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Clark Gable, Walter Mattau - all served in WWII as well as Julia Child and Bea Arthur. Many more stars enlisted - I think Fonda was not accepted at first, too thin with his height, he spent a few months bulking up and then was accepted. Also, many stars went around the country (like Lucille Ball) selling war bonds - also Lucille entertained the troops and went to the hospitals with wounded troops also entertaining along with Desi Arnaz.
Lucille Ball was quite a dish in her day. But she was so funny that she missed the glamour train. But there are a few pin-up shots of her floating around. Who doesn't love Lucy?
Lucy last appeared with Bob Hope on an Academy Award show in 1989 shortly before she died. Her dress was slit up to her hips - she still had great legs.
This is both funny and suspenseful. It's plenty of situation comedy. Frankly the old time screen writers had wonderful imaginations.

I never saw this before.
She was doing stupid things, no water on an electrical fire. 😅She almost hogtied those bad kids.
The credit for "the whole wacky thing" goes to Frank Tashlin.
I can't believe that I have never seen this! This was when television and movies were the very BEST!!! I LOVE THIS!!! ❤💥❤

Actually Greer Garson wore similar outfit in a movie made years before. She played a show girl who met fell in love with Ronald Colman.

Legendary Eddie Albert at the battle of Tarawa in WW2.

Terrific comedy for all ages. The comic touch of Frank Tashlin!
Crazy, slapstick crime drama. Never seen Lucille Ball in film before. Funny and light entertainment. Thank. Love black and white movies. Classics are great.
This was shot before Lucy transitioned to radio and later television for the 50s sitcom I Love Lucy. This film is a must for Lucy fans. ❤
Love all these old b/w film movies! Lucille Ball is my absolute favorite 🤩
What a good laugh…..Lucille Ball, the queen of comedy…..I see I’m not the only one who never saw this film with two excellent actors.
Cute movie and some good laughs, both Lucille Ball and Eddie Arnold are adorable in this old flic.
Lucy wS a zigfields folly show girl but she found her true calling when she gave us so much joy with her comedic acting.

Brilliant. Now I remember why I enjoyed the TV programme I Love Lucy so much.
Lucille Ball was so talented, and of course Eddie Albert was a great talent also. Great movie, thanks!
Lucy is one of my favorite female comedians.
I laughed out loud when the lady ran to the fence and the fellow picked up "something" that she had dropped..... Loved It!!!
Cameo by Emil Sitka - the "fourth stooge".
Her headphone wire got stuck in the glass door and it yanked off her head . Big laugh for me .
Those people are comedians!!! Lots of energy in this super movie, Lucille Ball was hilarious and superstar ❤
GREAT MOVIE!! Lucy & Eddie so good together. Wonder what it would look like in color.😂

What a fun movie!!!! Lucille Ball was so adorable !!! Thank you 💕
Loved the little cameo by Red Skelton. He ha recently done a big hit for Columbia, ''The Fuller Brush Man,'' and the studio brought him back for this ''sequel.''
The was the inside joke, of course!
I wasn't in the mood for a comedy but who can resist Lucille Ball. 😊😅
Eddie Albert received a bronze star with V for his actions as a naval officer at the battle of Tarawa. He saved the lives of many Marines who were forever grateful.
I remember reading that! There were a lot of our actors ( mainly fellas) that served our country.Even our Julia Child.😊

Much fun. I'd also like to give a shout out to Mel Blanc, voicing the two parrots onboard the ship.
I love these movies they are a joy to watch!!
Looking on the Internet, Fuller Brush is still in business. I hadn't heard of them for years!
One of my favs , i haven't seen this film since 2003
I always this movie of Lucy’s since I was a kid and I’m 68 now!
Funny gal and funny guy.. Eddy Elbert always had that twinkle in his eye whenever he smiled.
That scene with the cigar!
I last saw this film on B&W TV a lifetime ago. I remembered I loved it then and I certainly can see why.
A combination of “I Love Lucy” and “The Three Stooges” antics! 😂🤣😂🤣
Well, that was a Columbia specialty.
Really FUNNY movie! I needed a good laugh tonight! Thanks for posting!

Great to see the beginning of the garage that became 1164 Morning Glory Circle at The Columbia Ranch.
I remember Fuller Brush. I loved the products.
My mom used to buy them back in the day . Nowadays their stuff is way out of budget for me .
Oldies are the best 😊
Well well, I never knew Lucy McGillicuddy and Oliver Wendell Douglas had a past. 😮
Those boys were the twins in the cowboy program. The cab pulled up in front of one of the Leave it to Beaver houses.
The Fuller company is still in business, there’s a warehouse like right in front of my neighborhoods entrance!🙀🤪🤪🤪
Back in the day when there were real actors & actresses!
