Life is so strange. To think that all these amazingly talented, beautiful, glamorous, stylish, famous people are all gone from this world... I can't wrap my mind around it. Such a wonderful movie, I had never heard of it, and besides the leading actress, I had never heard of any of the other artists. The music was delightful. I watched it twice, to take in all the amazing nuances. It's a gem. I am learning to love all things vintage. I so appreciate how innovative and creative people were back then, and such quality and effort were put into everything. into every small detail. What an amazing time that must have been, right after WW2. There was so much hope and idealism. Thank you for uploading this relic of sight, sound, and soul.
I thought the same thing - all those wonderfully talented artists/actors/actresses all gone from this world...but forever immortalized in films like this one!
Agree! Brings back memories of my mother and dad. My earliest memories are of my beautiful mother with her hair styled just like Maureen O’Hara’s. Enjoyed this movie so very much.
I grew up watching the movies of the 40s and before so I enjoyed the wonderful time classics and the language and moral code of the movies made a big difference to one that believed that is how it should be in life. Reality check - was disappointed when I recognized movies is one thing and the reality of life seems to barge right in and makes one notice there is a difference and I was sorry that it is. However, one must be in life reality which should make one recognize that being accountable and responsible should matter more than ever.
Exactly, shockingly they weren't only beautiful but very smart and spoke so well compared to the actors today. Sad they're all gone😢 but not forgotten. Another thing is these attractive actresses had natural beauty-no botox and no capped teeth.
Unfortunately, plastic surgery became common in Hollywood-just watched a video on famous actresses from Mary Pickford to Elizabeth Taylor who had plastic surgery.
Yes, and how do you think they came to be the greatest generation? My Mom was born in 1924 and she told me that in public school at the beginning of each week the teacher would write a Bible verse on the blackboard and every student had to memorize it by the end of the week. Yes, sir, that's a great way to create a great generation. Folks in America have tried to kick God out of everything everywhere. Look around. We're paying dearly for that horrifically bad decision. May God have mercy on America and may He bring a great revival for the Christians and a great awakening for the unbelievers in America. Unless these two things happen and soon we can kiss America goodbye.
I met maureen O hara when she came back to live in the US, I was a flight attendant. She was lovely and down to earth telling stories about her late husband as if she wasn't anything special herself.
America at its finest. So much to be proud of in these early films, as a gift to the world - and to America's culture too. What a good influence films were in this era.
Why is it that I have NEVER been on a date and the man I am with starts singing, and a full unseen orchestra appears out of nowhere???!!! Great movie! Thank you for sharing! I own almost all Maureen O’Haras movies, but not this one She was so stunningly beautiful and classy! They sure don’t make actresses like her today sadly!🌹
I grew up on musicals. This one was wonderful, and I had never seen it before. Thank you for showing it free and in color! Maureen should always be shown in color😊
On the subject of cell phones, I hate when there is texting in movies! I have to pause, put on my reading glasses, and read the messages one by one. It's very annoying. I don't watch a movie to read. I watch it to WATCH it!🙄
Aussie here, My mum was born in 1920, so in the 1960s & 70s if there was in old movie on Saturday arvo on telly, we’d always watch them together. Dad took mum to the movies every Thursday night for years in the 40s and 50s, mums Aunt baby sat us. I remember all mum’s old 78 records being played often, Bing Crosby , Judy Garland Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Benny Goodman etc etc when I was a child. Sorry, got carried away with happy memories of movies and music of the past, watching this terrific old movie.
Love this movie! I have loved Maureen O'Hara since watching the original Parent Trap and The Quiet Man. She never disappoints. Harry James was popular in my Mother's time but I came to enjoy his talent when watching vintage movies with Mum. True glamour was a part of that world.
They really Knew how to dress ladies back in the fourties.I never saw this movie before. I love Maureen O Hara. The musical score, script are awesome. This is when Hollywood could put out a lovely movie. They can't anymore. Thanks for posting. I truly appreciate it.
It's called a side aerial ... when it's backward, it's called a back aerial ... there's a few different versions of the back aerial ... including the back aerial twist - also known as the back corkscrew - and then there's the forward aerial which can be a punch front with a solid landing or a front aerial walk-out.
That's at 55:10, not 53:00. If you look carefully, the dancers do almost impossible maneuvers and make it look easy. If I tried that, I'd need surgery.
One very lovely enjoyable film, they don't make them like that anymore. The actors might have passed on, but the film still brightens up the screen to this day. You sure get lost in the film, it was spell bounding and kept you engrossed in the unfolding story line. The trumpet playing and the band were outstanding. You were mesmerized by the songs the singer sung, he sang them so smoothly, it took your breath away. The men were smartly dressed then, which was an added bonus to see a forgotten trend in life today. Maureen O'Hare nicknamed Kitten in the film wore cloths so elegant and stylish they were to die for, what a pity fashion and elegance is not about like that anymore. Everything about the movie was likeable you could watch it again for the entertainment value. It was light hearted and enjoyable the whole way through.
such a delightful movie, great actors and great acting. it makes me sad that hollywood can't or won't make movies like this anymore. This is great entertainment and really a classic example of what was possible, 70 years ago.
I wonder how many other terrific old movies I have never seen? Although I’ve been a movie buff for years , I’m so often lately delighted to discover one gem after another- like this one, which I’d never seen before! Thank you for a wonderful movie!
I am in my 40’s and have alwayyyyssss loved these type of movies. I escape the world for a moment to enjoy the days of innocence and purity. I hate the disgusting commercials also these demonic days. Thank you so much for downloading this.smile😊
Never heard of this wonderful film but I loved every second of it. Musicals are my favorite. Thank you so much for sharing this video. What a delight it is.
Very impressive for a 1940s movie- still good in 2025! What a difference in character! Katherine's 2 new men friends in New York City do not desert her when her job is threatened back home. Very few people now would go out of their way like they did- travel to help her, whom they had just met a few days before.
That vanity dressing table in the new hoyel suite she just walked into was a knock out blast from the past!! I had a play one as a kid, n my Grandmother had two, ine in her bedroom downstairs n one in her bedroom upstairs, where my sister Linda n I used to sleep every summer for two weeks as a vacation when we were kids. It was a hundred year old house that was chock full of antiques in the country in Michigan, n I would STILL, to this day, love to have another vanity to do my makeup n hair at and keep my supplies on instead of a counter in the bathroom and a cabinet or closet.!!! LOVE the music 🎶 in this movie, always a Harry James fan!!! My Father, RIP, educated me by playing Big Band Music all the time when I was growing up, so I became an aficionado of the style n a singer when I turned 16. WONDERFUL presentation on a December weekend that is t exactly exciting, until I found this!!! Thank you for posting!!!
Thanks for the tip of where to look. I was expecting her to pop out on that stage in front of the water and start dancing &/or singing in accompaniment to the orchestra.
I loved this movie so much!!! Everything about it was Wonderful!!! I don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it before now…but thank you so much for sharing it!!!!🥰😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love that song, "I wonder why" being played by Harry James. I wished I was born during the early 20s so I would have been part of the WW2 time effort and where there was so much going on and the band music was at its heights. Loved that time due to so much of many classic actors, inventors and writers of our time. Naturally our beloved President Franklin D. Rosevelt too.
I loved it!!! Such a heart warming film. I love the oldies ....the colour, the styles when women looked liked women and men like men. Such class and elegance. Maureen O'Hara was beautiful and Dick Hames such a great singer (what a mellow voice) both were great actors. Thank you for posting this lovely film. I dream of being back in the 40's and 50's, life was so much simpler and the music was so romantic🥰. Ahhhhhhh
Superb opportunity to see 2 great musicians performing: Harry James & Dick Haymes And with what style! (And they can both act too!) Thanks so much for the upload! 🎵🎶🎵🎶
What a great movie, fun story to watch! Thanks for posting! Maureen O'Hara has the same beauty and allure as Rita Hayworth. I had no idea of this movie existing until seeing your post. What makes this film interesting is the Technicolor, the fashion that is so 1940s and glamorous, the set designs, the great acting, dance, music of Harry James, a good script. Some parts are so sugary but that is what makes the Golden Age of Hollywood so "sweet"! Just subscribed - keep posting more hidden gems!
I watched this as re-run when I was a 12-year old. I love "Moonlight Propaganda". As an adult, I have been searching and searching and not able to find it anywhere, until now. Thanks Thanks Thanks.
As if we didn't know who was in that cab. Betty looked gorgeous as usual. My kids, I'm 75, thot I was an OLD movie fan, but I never saw/heard of this one. Yes, great to see Maureen in color & those costumes/gowns. Exquisite. TFS
I much prefer movies from the start of the last century up to about year 2000. Thes days the films are trash, no class, too much blood and violence when it's not necessary to show it all the time, the movies prove that it can be insinuated, and not shown. I love to see Maureen O'Hara in colour asshe was such a beautiful red head, which you miss out on when it's a black and white film , but live them all the same. At present I'm really enjoying William Powell. But musicals I adore as well as historical/biblical films too. Guarantee worth watching in my book. Now I have a great film to watch and a nice cup of tea, What do they CAMERA...ACTION!!!
In addition to Maureen O'Hara, the 2 other heavyweights in this movie were Harry James the famous trumpeter and Dick Haymes, the velvet-toned baritone who women were mad for in the late 30s, and 40s. To have all 3 in a film is wonderous. (Haymes was Rita Hayworth's 4th husband).
Life is so strange. To think that all these amazingly talented, beautiful, glamorous, stylish, famous people are all gone from this world... I can't wrap my mind around it. I couldn't have said it better. What a lovely time this must have been to be alive.🎉
Agree with you, great movie.
@@ann-marie8035Except for the war, which begin overseas in 1939 and which we got into in 1941.
My Mom got me hooked on 1940’s movies so much class and none of the trash Hollywood turns out now.
Mine too, I used to come home from school and we’d watch the Early Show together.
I am trying to do it with my daughter …

Ah those were the days. Everyone in suit and tie and the greatest generation indeed.

Maureen O'Hara was one of the GREAT BEAUTIES of the screen and a VERY FINE ACTOR
Such a beautiful woman.
Absolutely!
Is “ she” a trans?
America at its finest. So much to be proud of in these early films, as a gift to the world - and to America's culture too. What a good influence films were in this era.
27 minutes into the movie and loving it...69 years old and have always enjoyed old movies...
63 years old and I have always loved them, too!
#me #66 still loving them!😊
Did u guys realize there are enough well known “classics” to watch on you tube until we’re gone 😅! My favorite? Kings Row.
67 and I enjoy old movies from TV as a child and from the movie theatre Saturday matinees.
If only plane and train travel came equipped with a big band! My dad played trumpet; it would've been a gas!
Why is it that I have NEVER been on a date and the man I am with starts singing, and a full unseen orchestra appears out of nowhere???!!!
Great movie! Thank you for sharing! I own almost all Maureen O’Haras movies, but not this one
She was so stunningly beautiful and classy! They sure don’t make actresses like her today sadly!🌹
It does happen, but the occasion is rare. Perfection is basicly the prerequisite.
@kathyh4804 I hope you had at least a virtual experience like that when you met 'Mr. Right." 🥰Happy New Year.
People back then can really take a punch. 🤛
I had never seen this Maureen O'Hara movie before. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to see it! 👍😄♥️
Me either
I grew up on musicals. This one was wonderful, and I had never seen it before. Thank you for showing it free and in color! Maureen should always be shown in color😊
Yes, her gorgeous red hair should always be in color!😍
she was my favorite in "the quiet man"
An absolutely wonderful film! Truly a treat. Wish films like this were still being made...🍻
Amen!
I wish they even knew how to....
Oh I just love it!!
That's a cool water tower designed like a coffee pot in your pic.👍☕
Beautiful color movie with Maureen O’Hara , glad I didn’t miss it
I love the way the photo on her desk cannot control it's emotions. Quite funny!
There was so much dialogue between ppl in those times beacause they didnt have cellular phones. Nowadays ppl cannot start a conversation.
On the subject of cell phones, I hate when there is texting in movies! I have to pause, put on my reading glasses, and read the messages one by one. It's very annoying. I don't watch a movie to read. I watch it to WATCH it!🙄

Parent Trap!!!!! YES!
Much more than glamour- there was a societal decorum and consideration of others.
Thanks for sharing the technicolor treat!
Great actors, great music. Thanks for the great movie!

At 53:00 those two female dancers did cartwheels without hands touching the ground!!!!
Dick Haymes's voice is pure honey and the looks to match.

Thank you for a wonderful movie!
Really I think that kind of movies never came to Argentina and now Im delighted to see it like you. Love it.
Oh the clothes!!! Too bad class has gone out of fashion & movies these days. Praise Jesus for oldies like this for oldies like me 😁.
Don't forget modesty is unfortunately gone too. They're called private parts for a reason. I don't want to see their private parts!🙄
❤ Dad loved this movie. He's dead 14 months. I miss him.
Another great movie that shows how movies can be made but no longer are. Thank you
What a Juicy, Jazzy little Gem of a movie! Loved it! 😍
I am in my 40’s and have alwayyyyssss loved these type of movies. I escape the world for a moment to enjoy the days of innocence and purity. I hate the disgusting commercials also these demonic days. Thank you so much for downloading this.smile😊
Wow. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maureen O'Hara's librarian look on the train! SO digging the close-up's, too. Va-va-voom!
That's the best part for me 😅
One of the best movies i have watched lately. Thank you
Enjoyed this movie so much! 👏😊
Betty Grable in the car!! What a surprise ending!! A great cast great talent beats the socks off anything in the theaters today.
Civility and manners two things sorely lacking in today's world. How refreshing.
Never heard of this wonderful film but I loved every second of it. Musicals are my favorite. Thank you so much for sharing this video. What a delight it is.
So happy to see Maureen O'Hara in color❤❤❤ thanks for posting🎉
I love this movie & the music . This movie was 2 years older than me . Very entertaining .
I really enjoyed that! At first I didn't recognize Maureen O'Hara!
That's a gem of a movie. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks so much for this wonderful film. Loved seeing Harry and Dick as part of the story. Maureen, stunning as usual, especially in color❤
Too bad there wasn't a Tom to go with Dick and Harry 😂😂😂
Herbert seems to be the best kind of friend.
I just Love old movies so beautiful actors top class full stop ❤🇦🇺
You are absolutely right. I wish the old movies would come back. They are the only ones WORTH WATCHING. So happy they are around👏🙌

amazing colour film quality and clothing colors..wow...i never knew -- so vibrant and mix-match ladies' outfits.. good film appreciated
I love musicals and old movies. Thanks for the upload.💜
Maureen’s a class act, in her own realm.
A great movie. All great actors. Nothing like all these movies. Love them. ☺️

Wonderful movie!
The music was amazing and acting was great!
How quickly Barry forgot Kitten when he spotted Betty Grable in the back seat of the cab.🥰 Thanks. Fun movie. Great cast.
They were married in real life.
Harry James (Barry) was married to that "little trick" waiting in the cab. Her real name was Betty Grable. 😊
@@ann-marie8035❤️ "Little trick"

Those were the good days. What a beautiful movie with such talented actors the were.
One of my favorite movies from my youth! Love the musical scores too!
This film brought so much nostalgia to my mind Oh for the good days of love snd honor
Great movie! Love these old movies. Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful movie 🎬
Great music and a fun movie.
Beautiful classic. Thank you.
I don't like musical movies but I enjoy this one they don't make i love the movies of the 50ths
Why is it those of us with hearing problems aren’t considered 😢 🙏 ❤

What a beautiful movie
Wow, colour...that's fun to find in a 40s film. And no way Maureen ever looked frumpy; she was still gorgeous in her prim clothes...
A great musical I had never seen before.
Wow!!! What an orchestra!!!!!

such a lovely musical! i never heard of it and yet is so beautiful, thank you
How did Harry James get so lucky to have so much screen time? Oh ya, he was married to Betty Grable, the gal in the taxi. Lol!
Enchanting !!!!
If it's Maureen O'Hara asking, the answer is 'yes!'
Wow what a great movie
