Most would say Grapes of Wrath or On Golden Pond. Both difficult to argue against. I say Rings On Her Fingers 1942. He actually felt like a complete actor in this one.
Despite this wonderful film being made in 1939, it was a reflection of real-life back then and what would continue into the future as this still happens today. Thoroughly enjoyable and many thanks for posting.
Good story, more than that, a great film, and because of Henry Fonda. Who wouldn't dream to have him as father, brother, friend, lover, husband, boss, or president of the United States. He was all a man desires to be and wants to cherish, love, admire... and he was beautiful too. 😘❤😘❤😘❤ tHANK YOU; I didn't know this film.
Young Henry Fonda was so natural, such a good actor 🙆 He got famous lines, just like those in this movie, about justice and "the little people". His lines were never só true in America 🤦
Absolutely great movie, great acting, great camerawork - wow! Hard to decide what my favorite Henry Fonda movie is, since I've still got some fifty to go before I can give a fair ranking, but this one surely hit the mark! Thanks for uploading 👍
This is just 1 of many great movies with Henry Fonda. This movie is very similar to one he did many years later, although that one was a true story. I believe the name of the movie was, Mistaken Identity!??? In that movie he was a trumpet player, had a wife and some kids. When he was arrested his wife went into a mental hospital where she stayed for many years even after he was released from prison. If anyone knows the name of that movie please let me know and perhaps stream city will play it. Thanks steam city, I'm loving your content of movies. I've been obsessed with the movies of the golden age and love when they stay in black and white. It makes them seem more real! Please help me find that movie and I'm sure many of you will agree, there is no one movie that Henry Fonda was great in, he was great in all of them, just like his good friend, Jimmy Stuart was great in all his movie's!
@mizfrenchtwist oh wow, if that's the title I am very grateful to you! I will have to see if any of these movies channels have it. Thank you, thank you, thanks sooo much! 🙏🥰🥰🌹🌹
Oddly(not the best description, not powerful enough); He makes a docudrama (the one you speak of) with a wife going into asylum... TRUE to HIS OWN life; His marriage with Frances Brokaw, "suffering from bi-polar disorder".. He drove her to an Asylum as well.
Jamie, According to Wikipedia THIS one was also based on a true story, and was intended to be a much bigger production. IDK if we can believe any of it, but if it were true, it is shameful. And this conversation might have been a much better one. Considering how many people have viewed this video, it is surprising to me that the comments are so trivial and meaningless. Maybe if Stream City had asked a more meaningful question, there would be a discussion related to the point of this film. The fact is, this injustice is STILL continuing in the US. Our so called justice system is a big mess, often grossly unfair and unequal, with innocent people convicted, and guilty people released to commit more crimes. The system itself encourages crime. And even with the knowledge that innocent people do get convicted, and sometimes are executed we do not abolish the death penalty.
I think you have too many logos distracting from enjoying the movie especially the left sided one. The right side one should be smaller it would make a more enjoyable watching experience.
“I can’t say that I blame him” Ya think?!?! Wonder how many innocent people have been put to death…Probably more often than we think. Good movie. Great actors. Thanks.
They got out of jail wouldn shake hands or even smile at getting out.. Some people ar never happy... I'm glad no injustice like that happens these days..
Big Problems with the case...the actual crooks stole a Brand New Cab. And the witness clearly saw it. Since shots were fired and a safe was blown open, there were no tests for any kind of gunpowder or explosive residue. No search was conducted for the stolen brand new cab. The stolen cab would've been found along with evidence and fingerprints of the perpetrators. Henry and his friend didn't have any guns or the stolen money. His actual cab would've had traces /evidence of the crime.
This movie was in 1939. In 1956 Fonda starred in "The Wrong Man", again being accused of a crime with which he had nothing to do. And to me he always looked to be so very innocent.
Interesting contrast here. Henry Fonda plays an Innocent man found guilty in this movie, and 18 years later he will play a juror in a murder case (12 Angry Men) that has doubts about the suspect's guilt and eventually gets the rest of the jury to see his way.
M I blind ? This is not Maureens face or voice 😐?? What goes on here ? She couldn't have changed that much ?? Fonda has bn gorgeous his entire life. Fine chiseled features just don't change with age. Thats why his kids wer beautiful. Terrific actor ❤
@@diannemiller1895 hey I was very confused too, then I realized I was thinking of Margaret Sullavan and had merged the two actresses in my mind due to their similar names and looks.
Did you know... The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life throught Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 You and I broke the law and Jesus paid. God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Believe and repent, eternity is too long to be wrong.
@@cynthiajones4332 Thank you for speaking about our savior lord of salvation Jesus. Without him we are void. Nothing will fulfill our needs although people try. Consumerism Egoism Alcoholism Spiritualism, but only God gives us true peace love kindness & joy. I was an atheist most of my life. I thought I was happy. Then Christ opened the door and I walked through and I’ve never felt so special in my entire life. God bless you. Heaven is waiting 💕🙏🏻✝️❤️
Good picture called Let Us Live (1939) Why the OP does not provide this basic information makes me think that person is getting $$ from something that person has no right to. . . just sayin.
O'Sullivan was good 0:17 as Jane in the Tarzan series, but I felt she was overly dramatic in her role as Mary! I'm a big fan of the classics, but this one didn't quite do it for me😞😞
The mental torture of being accused of a crime you did not commit or of being held hostage without knowing if you would be killed is surely beyond comprehension to those who have not experienced it. Kudos and blessing to the Israeli hostages and to the January 6th detainees now released, finally, by President Trump!
We've come a long way baby! Now the murderers are pardoned, criminals are released; many with no bail. ie. the criminal that passed away from a choke hold in the NY subway who had criminal charges against him and was stilled allowed out on bail while the hero who kept him from harming innocent civilians went to jail.
What’s your favorite Henry Fonda movie?
hi , there are soooooo many , grapes of wrath ...........i guess...................
grapes of wrath
Most would say Grapes of Wrath or On Golden Pond.
Both difficult to argue against.
I say Rings On Her Fingers 1942.
He actually felt like a complete actor in this one.
I never considered Fonda a TRUE A-Lister.
Study him & you will find him lacking some TOP notch skills
The Male animal was a quality flick worthy of your 1.5Hrs.
Despite this wonderful film being made in 1939, it was a reflection of real-life back then and what would continue into the future as this still happens today. Thoroughly enjoyable and many thanks for posting.
Love, justice, injustice - all tied up in this one storyline. Excellent!
What struck me was the lighting and photographic angles. Very original.
What an incredibly great film that was so interesting.Henry Fonda and Mareen Osullivan Great, great story.Great acting thank you very much
A “Happy Ending” that leaves the viewer feeling entirely empty and bereft. 😢 beautiful
Good story, more than that, a great film, and because of Henry Fonda.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best true story movie I've seen for a long time.
Henry Fonda at his most handsome and the beautiful Maureen O'Sullivan .wonderful.

It was Hitchcock's The Wrong Man, co-starring Vera Miles.

A lot of action in one hour, seven minutes!! Good movie.
“I can’t say that I blame him” Ya think?!?! Wonder how many innocent people have been put to death…Probably more often than we think.
Good movie. Great actors. Thanks.
Just since '73 over 200 people condemned to death have been exonerated. Imagine how many going back a century or more.
Sad movie because this happens in real life and the outcome is not the same as in this movie.
Maureen is FANTASTIC in this film VERY believable .I think this is the first time I have believed in her acting .
They got out of jail wouldn shake hands or even smile at getting out.. Some people ar never happy... I'm glad no injustice like that happens these days..

Excellent movie!
As we've witnessed recently, all too easy to convict and sentence the easy targets.
Thank you

Great movie. Thanks. I'm subscribed.

the more they stay the same.

❤ Luigi for PRESIDENT NOW ❤
Great movie
A great movie ruined by advertisements, Henry Fonda was a great great actor Maureen O’Sullivan as well I miss movies like this simple clean clear
Fonda is truly a great actor as he played a nice guy when he was a jerk in real life
What makes you say he was a jerk?
Everyone's a jerk in real life at one time or another.....
Interesting contrast here. Henry Fonda plays an Innocent man found guilty in this movie, and 18 years later he will play a juror in a murder case (12 Angry Men) that has doubts about the suspect's guilt and eventually gets the rest of the jury to see his way.
Very good!
Nothing has changed in the US. They should have a judicial system like Switzerland.
it is very sad to convict innocents just because someone shouts it is him or her without any solid evidence
Film Nov. 1938-Jan. 1939. 18 years before The Wrong Man and 19 before 12 Angry Men. This was based on a true story in Massachusetts
Ralph Bellamy. I see the name; I watch the film. 😃
32:29 😆😅 just realized Henry Fonda has been here before. 1957
ooops I mean after 12 Angry Men
A good movie! There is only one flaw in the movie, the conceited Attorney General should be fired.
That's a very narrow view of the issue.
just cannot handle innocent ppl getting railroaded.... can't watch
Things don't change much do they ?
why do you keep putting free??! this is youtube
M I blind ? This is not Maureens face or voice 😐?? What goes on here ? She couldn't have changed that much ?? Fonda has bn gorgeous his entire life. Fine chiseled features just don't change with age. Thats why his kids wer beautiful. Terrific actor ❤

On Golden Pond. Maureen O’Sullivan is Mia Farrow’s mother.

For me it's a tossup between 12 Angary Men and Fail Safe.

And my job is to get convictions -- just like Harris in CA.
Henry Fonda would never kill anyone, lol. 😆
Tell that to Charles Bronson ("Once upon a Time in the West")!

Thank the Lord things are starting to change. And that Man was released free of all charges! God is good!
Sue the state for false arrest!!
and yet he was a staunch democrat even after this movie
I would have loved to have lived back then.
Please; Let us NOT forget to put the year in title-
makes things SO much easier.

Sue the eye-witnesses for lack of due care and attention.
