Meet Professor Leaf, a whimsical poet lost in his own thoughts, whose world takes an unexpected turn when he realizes that his son is not only a math prodigy but also incapable of perceiving the full spectrum of colors. As his son navigates the intricate realm of numbers, he finds himself entangled in the enchanting allure of Brigitte Bardot, the iconic French bombshell. Balancing the realms of intellect, perception, and romance, the Leaf family embarks on a unique journey filled with poetic musings, mathematical wonders, and the timeless allure of a silver screen siren.

Is there any 20 or 30 yo people who love James Stewart movies like me?
Love watching Jimmy Stuart!
My all time favorite, then, now, forever. His range of acting performed in every role he played was excellent. I also admired his service in WWll & positive lifestyle. A gentleman. 😊
I love him and he was a WW2 hero.
He’s the best. It’s a wonderful life…my Xmas film every year!🥰❤️
Well I'm 32
I love this movie but every time the skipper guy- Ed Wynn laughs, I’m right back in 1964 or 65 listening to “I love to laugh” on the Mary Poppins Soundtrack Album.
A delightful '60s movie that I had never seen before. I am still smiling. Thank you for providing this film.
If you enjoyed this film check out its predecessor another light hearted one directed by Henry Koster. That was "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation" 1962. Jimmy Stewart, Maureen O'Hara and again Fabian.
This era of movies from my childhood has many of this sort.
This is my kinda movie. All the old greatest actors.
Hugs and stuff
From across the pond 😊
Glynis Johns is my mom’s cousin. Mom was Welsh and moved to the US when she met my dad was stationed in London with the USArmy. Glynis also played the suffragette mother in Mary Poppins. 🥰
Oh, yes, she is adorable 🌹
Glynis Johns is still alive today! She is 99 years old with her birthday October 5,1923! She will be 100!❤
@@mw54470 ,
She died January 4th, this year, at age 100, from natural causes.
I loved her in Mary Poppins
Thanks for posting this gem. I'm a big Jimmy Stewart fan, but hadn't even heard of this one before.
The Ferry Issaquah (seen first at 0:22) was built in 1914 and named after the town of Issaquah (just east of Seattle, WA). It carried cars across Lake Washington until the lake dropped 9 feet. The Issaquah was then moved to San Francisco. According to an entry on Wikipedia, - "The ferry ended up abandoned on a mudflat in Sausalito, California. In the 1970s the two pilot houses were salvaged from the mud flats and restored. They are the sole remnants of the vessel and as of 2011 are displayed as a museum attraction at 300 Napa Street, Sausalito, California."

I LOVED THIS 🎥 MOVIE
B.M. was ADORABLE in that ROLE.
I used to watch it on 📺 all the TIME.
Where did all the INNOCENT GO ???
Billy Mumy one of the most charming and intelligent child actors of that period.
Now look at our poor San Francisco
Absent minded Jimmy Stewart with a whiz kid son and lovely Glynis Johns made this a delightful movie. And that blue woody was an extra touch. First time I've seen this, but it won't be the last. Thanks for the upload. Joe S
Glynnis Johns and Jimmy Stewart appeared in another film together.
It was called " No Highway in the Sky ".
I also think Fabian stared in another film with Jimmy Steward titled Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation. Another great film, if I'm correct a Fabian
Herb Albert can be seen playing at the dance
This is such a wonderful movie and I'd never heard of it until yesterday.
I've loved this movie since I was a kid. LOVE the old classic movies. They don't make them like they did in the 60's & 70's.
We " the world", need more movies like this. Take note Hollywood,, your losing it.
These are the films and times that I love to watch the movies best. Nothing like them today. Shame.
I agree👍
Nudity right off the bat, what are you talking about? 0:32
Every once in a while a gem of a movie like this one appears in my RUclips suggestion column and I am so grateful it knows exactly what I like : )
Great
Great movie
Very Good movie.
I really enjoyed it.
But, I Always like any movie with James Stewart 👍👍
I have never seen a movie of Jimmy's that I didn't like
As charming now as the day I first saw this Film. The young red head worked with quite a crew on a ship Lost In Space.
Outstanding CAST! Great Entertainment!
The good old days when family values and life was good and important all across America. Charming movie, and times....this relaxes me. Thank you.
The current state of cinema, with its negative influences, compels me to seek out alternative forms of entertainment.
So glad I came across this movie tonight! My sister and I watched it on TV when we were kids in the early sixties. 😊
Very cute movie. Love Jimmy Stewart! Never seen this one before though, such a lovely treat to find it!
Loved those old station wagons with wood paneling & lots of chrome
Yes, in the 60s we called them a Woodie. Surfers 🏄 loved them. Now they’re so few and cost a fortune
The Captain played Uncle Albert and the professor's wife played Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins.
Delightful movie so glad I watched it❤
Did you know that Glynnis Johns played an Arch-Villain in the 60's Batman TV series?
Yes she was in four episodes playing " Lady Penelope Peasoup ". It was the storyline where
Batman & Robin & Batgirl travel to Jolly Old England.
As a college teacher I have to say that what he predicts in 1965 about the decline of interest in study of literature and the arts has come true. There is so much disrespect for anything not STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and the students who do love these subjects are afraid they will not be employable if they study them. Major universities are closing down or vastly cutting their departments. For a silly comedy it is correct about the future. The problem with a stem only degree is that it produces people with no education in lateral thinking or ethics.
its predictive programming...
" lateral thinking or ethics." ? , you're not supposed to learn these things in higher education...you're supposed to learn them at school...
The goal now is to push students through secondary education & college, not for students to really learn anything. My state had a very basic exit exam students were required to take before graduation. So many failed it that they got rid of the exam. No state wants a low graduation rate. What they want is not to be at the bottom of national ratings whether they learn much is less important.
@@vasopel Not sure what you mean, since higher ed is “school”. These subjects are the focus of classes in higher education.
@@suzannefarrington4143 Schools: include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education.
An institution where higher education is taught is commonly called a university college or university.
whats America done to its great cities? as it stated at the start of this film, san Francisco was indeed a beautiful city,no more it isn't,it's a filthy, smelly hole like a lot of previous great cities. so sad to see.😢😢😢😢😢
It’s homelessness, no jobs and grotesque rises in rents and property value.
Loss of industry, suburbanization, redlining, gentrification and more
I think Jimmy Stewart took a back seat here as performances go.His son is the real hero, what a genius.Meeting Brigitte Bardot that was the highlight. What a beautiful, sexy, charming actress and she made the little boys dream come true. Thanks for screening.❤
I absolutely LOVE Jimmy Stewart.
When the boy played the cello who else wanted
to call out " Danger Will Robinson....DANGER! " ?
Heck, I thought everyone was yelling that!
I love this old movie! Thank you for sharing. It has always been one of my favorites, but so hard to find stations that play it.
Saw this at the theater in 1965. Holds up great!
Have loved jimmy Stewart movies since I was a teen
Father to son in the car; "You're a first class little fella, you know that Raz"? 🥰
love this film, from Bardot to the 56 Mercury wagon the family owns :) Glynis Johns is so pretty and delightful.
As of 11/8/23 Glynis Johns is alive. She is 100 years old.
And the universities are in the exact same position today, but even worse.
Glynis Johns truly lovely woman, great British actress and I recommend every movie she's in. Glynis will turn 100 this year on October 5th, pretty cool.
Her first husband, Anthony Forwood, was gay, and Johns divorced him, though they had a son together. Forwood then lived with his partner Dirk Bogarde, who outlived him by 11 years.
Wow Dave, I am amazed and great news. I always remember her in Mary Poppins.
who is the man at the start (name) talking about how lovely Calif. was ? always liked him.
@@tommas2674 That's Ed Wynn, he is a one of a kind never be another like him.
@@daveallen63 isn't that the truth. thank you for letting me know, now I can look up his work..
I always liked John Williams,Audrey Hepburn’s father in Sabrina, the inspector in Dial M for Murder.
Love his appeal
"One of these days I am going to accept one of your resignations". 😆
It was a joy to watch this little gem! And James Stewart was a dear and Glynis Johns was just a darling! And old Ed Wynn is always worth watching. Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed this film.
This is one of the cutest movies. The plot is almost believable, and there's no "family drama."
" Thank the good Lord the world is full of dumbbells " - Ed Wynn ( as the captain )
I think the houseboat is the same one that came out in a movie with Sophia loren and Cary Grant , i think the movie was called houseboat.
It sure looks like it doesn't it?
I don’t think so. Houseboat was filmed in DC
This is the first time I have seen this film. Amazing cast and quite British in its delivery. Couldn't find a date for it but I think it's 1960's. It's an enjoyable little film for its time period. Thank you for posting.
It was an American-madefilm, produced and releeased baby Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation. The scenes with Brigitte Bardot WERE filmed on location in Paris, but thev film was shot in San Francisco.
Thank you William that was nice and informative. Was it 1960's?
When in doubt google Wikipedia or IMBD when looking for film details. 1965
@@izzy9132 ThankU Izzy for taking the time to respond. I shall bear this in mind for this and future help 🤗
Fabian was hot AF back then... also one of the few films of his where he's all bundled up in a sweater vest and not shirtless 50% of the time which somehow is sexier on him LOL
I think this is the boy of the series lost in the space 🌌.
Thanks
Billy Mumy 😊
though this is a delightful comedy the actual message behind it is just as relevant today as it was then truly enlightened!!GREAT ACTORS
Excellent movie. Would’ve been nice if the ending hadn’t been cut off. I really enjoyed this film. Jimmy Stewart is just the best. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for letting me know so that I didn't waste my time watching the movie.
Parents often want their kids to like what they like and follow in their footsteps. Even today, it’s pretty common for an athletic father to expect his son to be an athlete, and have a hard time handling it if his son is, for example, artistic or musical. My daughter-in-law has an advanced degree and a great career, while my daughter home schools exceptionally and raises and grows their own organic food. You have to support your kids to follow their own dreams, not the dreams of the parents. The father was learning that in this movie. It would be great if there were a sequel so you could see what happened next!
He didn't want him going down the path of science and inventing atomic bombs which can destroy humanity so I can see where he was coming from!!!
My favorite James Stewart movie! With a great cast of supporting characters.
Oooh! the unemployment office lady at 53:52 is the nosey neighbor from Bewitched!
Ed Wynn was in Mary Poppins. Same character!
I love Jimmy Stewart could watch his movies all day
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Great Old Movies though. 👍👌👏
And of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
Gorgeous print! Thanks so much!
Little Bill Mumy was a great actor back in the day. I've not heard his music yet. Maybe I'll look him up.
Careful how much you criticize his cello playing. He could send you to the cornfield. 😬
WOW 🤩 so happy to see this movie 😊 I love it ❤
What the professor was talking to his class about at the 16 minute mark is the time we are living in now.
My thoughts exactly!
thnings have changed so much. These days college kids belive 2+2=4 is a social construct
Never seen or heard of this one. Thankyou! Great picture and sound quality.
Amazing movie..pure flix of Hollywood .. so sweet and wholesome of the human spirit..
And then Hollywood predictions come true..yukko
Yes, I grew up on these movies. I would go back anytime.😍😍
Anyone else see James Brolin in the crowd scene at the houseboat?
I never really wanted to be somebody else. Except Billy Mummy! Lucky Kid!
What a fun movie and Jimmy Stewart was excellent in this comedy
Great movie, great actors, sweet story!
Merci beaucoup from Paris France 👍 👍 👍!
What an absolutely fantastic film!
Ed Wynn he was wonderful.
Its the kid from Lost in Space!
Billy Mummy.
Bill Mumy.
booper at 5:07....he drove in and parked and would have had to back up to leave.....when he leaves the car has been orientated to drive straight forward, like to the left, without backing up. We Boomers grew up watching Ed Wynn (beginning narrator) comedy on TV and his persona is beloved...too bad he's not mentioned in "starring."
Dear Brigitte (1965)
Professor Leaf, an absent-minded poet, is forced to face the fact that his son is a math prodigy who is as colorblind as he's in love with Brigitte Bardot, the French bombshell. - imdb 6.3
In the 1960s James Stewart played in several comedic movies as the old family man . Mr Hobbs Takes A Vacation , Take Her Shes Mine , and this movie Dear Brigitte. His old friends John Wayne and Henry Fonda did not do pictures playing the old father in comic style . Unless you consider Wayne in McLintock that had some comic elements for a western or Fonda in Spencers Mountain which was not comedy . The movie Yours Mine And Ours seemed more like a Ms Ball project where Fonda was bought in as leading man . By the way the three old friends in the movies listed seemed to share the same leading lady , Ms Maureen O Hara playing their wife .
And Fabian is in all the movies you mentioned
Wow! This print looks like like it was filmed yesterday!
If you are a fan of Glynnis Johns you have to watch the 1941 film " The 49th Parallel ".
I just watched that wonderful film for Leslie Howard and thoroughly enjoyed Glynnis's performance as well.
I think Glynnis was only 17 or 18 in that film.@@PAn-su3wy
If you are a fan of Glynnis Johns you should also watch a film called No Highway in the Sky. It also stars Jimmy Stewart and Marlene Dietrich. Glynnis plays an Airline Stewardess. @@PAn-su3wy
REST IN PEACE GLYNIS JOHNS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sweet and charming flick
Seen this movie before. Its good!
First time I saw it.

Great actor one of
My favourites
dates on all films please.
1965 - magnificent cars!
Why is the delightful end cut off!? Re-upload. What a delightful movie.
The way we present films is connected to our channel's editorial policy: we strive to showcase only the content itself, so that the viewer's attention is focused on the film.
Only the credits are cut off.
My oh my has San Francisco changed. For the worse.
Q educated us about "The 16 year plan to destroy America!" Heartbreaking... The Maui DEW FF genocide being the latest
This setting is Sausalito. It's on the north side of the bridge. Back before life became so complicated and crowded. My dear ones pal had a houseboat there. At his prime back then.
@@lucindarandolph369 Oh brother, what woke nonsense! Go woke someplace else, Debbie Downer!
Remembering.....when SF was still dreamy, but because there was no rules, discipline, and action to prevent crime and criminals, and homelessness it has gone to pot. The hand of discipline the Democrats don't want, they are a rebellious, foolish lot.
The Mad Hatter😊
Wow an 8 yr old writing. And in cursive!!🤗
Yes. Used to be we were taught from kindergarten on to write neatly & then in cursive. Penmanship was a skill..some went on to write in calligraphy as well, just in case you were being sarcastic. Keyboards have really diminished all that. Same with computers eliminating knowing how to spell & punctuate. It's sad.
@@kaydee4296 Yes, the level of illiteracy is absolutely scary to see. Just read You Tube comments. People can't spell, write, use punctuation correctly.
@@donnabaardsen5372 Even worse they seem not to care as there is such thing as spell check!
cuts off before the ending unfortunately
Ed Wynn the captain character and Aunt Clara from Be Witched Marion Lorne would make the perfect couple with their befuddled mannerisms.
Haha,! Lovely movie
Strange echoes of the future in this movie.
Good movie thank you
The setting in San Francisco is so perfect for this liberal minded dad that hated “science” so much. Gave me a real chuckle!
I bet the houseboat was filmed in Sausalito (just over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco).
