This ride is so fun and quirky. It's got that bizarre uphill transfer, the compressed air launch, the lift hill half way through, some of the elements from a hypercoaster and the excellent wooded layout you expect from SDC. And like you said, the restraint from a Screamin' Swing.
This personally is my number 1 and I love it, Outlaw Run 2, Time Traveler 3. This is literally my home park as I can look out my front window and see table rock and look out the back and see the strip this is so cool to watch you two go and have fun and want to meet yall some day. have a good day @Coaster Studios.
That launch into the airtime hill into the drop is one of my favorite elements ever, from any coaster. Not my favorite coaster, but I love launches, airtime and drops and this 5 seconds has them all in one quick pop.
Love this ride! Solid launch, great airtime, great views and it's so smooth. The setting adds so much, making it feel higher and faster than it is. Night rides are the best, rivaling even Outlaw Run night rides IMO. It's pitch black just like OLR, but because it's so smooth, you can completely relax and fully enjoy it without any pain. It loses some points for pacing, reliability and efficiency. The switch track start, while unique and quirky, takes a hot minute. The chain lift 2/3s of the ride hurts pacing too. It'd be amazing if they converted it to another launch. It could become the first coaster with both a compressed air and LIM launch haha. Powder Keg seems to experience the most down time at SDC, and the trains are short. But at the end of the day, this adds a lot to the park's line up. If SDC added a gigacoaster and a modern dark ride (and maybe a beer garden) they'd have an unrivaled lineup. Their current lineup, entertainment, and theming are so good.
The best Frankenstein coaster out there! I actually got a few rides on the original Buzz Saw Falls. It was pretty unique but had terrible capacity and even worse reliability (as we all know). So much better as Powder Keg, they definitely could have fit in an extra camel back or something in the second half though, it has enough steam still coming into the breaks. Can't wait for the new Fire in the Hole!
I'm so glad I finally got to make it out and ride this one, such a fun unique ride with a launch, amazing airtime, scenery, restrains and layout I'll have to go back to get some night rides, and to see the cave I also want to do some hiking in Branson next time I go too
We rode this twice in one day back in August. The first ride was with a full train and it was fun. The second time, there were only 3 riders, and WOW! The first hill and drop were faster and so much more exciting.
As a Kansas Citian by birth, I always thought of Silver Dollar City as my second home park. Sadly my parents didn't take me to SDC while Buzzsaw Falls was enjoying its brief period of operation, but Powder Keg is always a good time.

I was unaware this ride also had Screamin' Swing lapbars. Should be rethemed to Frankenstein's ride during Halloween.

Buzzsaw Falls was pretty lame. It was a water ride and a coaster, and did both poorly. Powder Keg is a winner.
