Colorado Adventure really surprised me at my visit to Fantasialand last summer. Honestly, I preferred it over Taron. The length, the airtime with those lap bars and the awesome headchoppers + theming make this maybe the best family coaster in Germany. (As for Taron, I love the launches but I got stapled so badly that there basically was no airtime)

  • @zacg_

It's really interesting to think that Vekoma was able to make smooth coasters for years before Formula. Disney has a larger budget but it still means Vekoma was able to make it happen. Maybe their coasters just required WAY more maintenance in order to stay smooth and now they last longer before becoming rough. Also, Disney didn't buy many coasters with OTS and the ones they did buy weren't the bulky SLC type.
My point is that they've been capable of greatness for a long time but only recently found a way to make that greatness broadly accessible.

  • @vladimirmosimann3807
    @vladimirmosimann3807 7 месяцев назад +4

Fair list as you took all kind of coasters that can't really be compared to each other !
And they deserve a huge respect to have made what so many compagnies don't want to... sit at a table, put their ego beside and look straight into the problems instead of acting like they missed it to improve and they made probably the most difficult and risky decision to erase the base of their business and restart from ZERO !
It takes balls to make this move and we all see everywhere around the world at our work that not everybody by far could make what they did, improve the failures and innovate.

  • @AirtimeProductions

Got to experience Fønix myself this summer and yeah, that ride is just fun incarnate! I'm nowhere near as much of a positive G fan as Taylor but Fønix just did everything with flying colours! Am really glad we have a world class coaster like this in my home country, and am so glad it helped bring attention to Denmark and the other hidden gems we have here like Piraten, Lynet, Falken, Rutschebanen, and Juvelen.

Although I haven't done too many by Vekoma, no.1 is definitely F.L.Y. (my overall no.3), followed by both Velocity and Kumali from Flamingo Land which you visited earlier this year. I rank Velocity above 2 B&M Gigas and 4 B&M Inverts (it was running a lot faster last year), and Kumali is almost as good as Nemesis in my opinion (this year is the only year that it's been at all rough - it's always glass smooth and very forceful). I know you're not nearly as big of a fan of the park as anyone in the UK, or me especially, but if you come back again at some point when they're getting another big new thrill coaster, hopefully you'll enjoy your time there a bit more.

Ednor at LaRonde used to be my favorite coaster as a non enthusiast kid. Muntanya rusa is also really solid for a family ride, delivering a smooth ride with stunning views !
Everyone makes fun of Goudurix for being rough, and it is indeed, but don't sleep on the five first inversions, they're pretty intense !

My favorite Vekoma coaster is Wrath Of Zeus. The air time was good, 3 inversion and some epic moment. The only issue was the break on the top hat. the ride would be better if they give it more speed 1 more inversion and airtime moment.

5:55 EE isn't the first Vekoma to have rails on the outside, they made Wild Mouse coasters in the 80s like that and there are some roller skaters built before 2006.
On another note though, it really is crazy how far Vekoma has come. They have a bright future ahead for sure.

I rode my first, second and third Vekoma coaster at the World Expo 88 amusement park in Brisbane - Titan (standard boomerang), Centrifuge (a suspended coaster) and Super Nova (indoor coaster). All were rather terrible.
My next Vekoma was Arkham Asylum at WB Movie World on the Gold Coast (an SLC) which I loved - aggressive but smooth. I was devastated when they tore it down. The last I rode was Escape from Madagascar at Dreamworld (FSC) - slow, rough and dull.
I am really looking for to Dreamworld’s new for 2024 custom Vekoma family thrill coaster, Jungle Rush, with dark ride component, heaps of airtime and inversive theming.

At the latest for the Parc Astérix 40th anniversary in 2029, I'd love to see an insane Goudurix 2 Vekoma Wildcat to replace its old (and world-hated) brother.
As announced in 2023, the viking area might be restructured during the 2028-2031 development phase, so fingers crossed.

Unfortunately my only Vekoma credits are Boomerang at SFFT and Aftershock at Silverwood, but man Aftershock is so intense, it feels like a simulated car crash. Still waiting to see how awful SLCs are.

Does anyone know why there is only one new flying coaster so far? F.L.Y. is generally praised to be fun for enthusiasts as well as GPs and compared to other flying coasters the boarding process is much more improved to increase capacity. Are parks still shying away because of the experience with older models (both B&M and Vekoma)? Is it maintenance costs due to more complex trains? Price?

My opinion is that there are 2 major reasons for that. First is what everyone now wants from a coaster is, RMC hyper hybrid or raptor and also multilaunch coasters are very popular right now. And they're all brutally good rides, that there is ALWAYS someone to have them in their top 10, or even as No.1. This is bringing me to the second reason. If for example Energylandia would build a Vekoma flyer, it wouldn't still be as good as F.L.Y. because that thing is unique. Sure others may bring back monstrous stats and intensity, but since F.L.Y. is here, I think that most of us made think of it as a perfect flying coaster. It's all about theming, and if some other park would try to do the same as Phantasialand, they would fail, because they made it SO GOOD THAT NOT EVEN IF UNIVERSAL OR DISNEY MADE ANOTHER VEKOMA FLYER, EVERYONE WOULD STILL PREFER F.L.Y. BECAUSE IT'S IDEAL FLYING COASTER.
Took me longer than expected, oops

Guardians of the Galaxy is arguably the best coaster I’ve ever rode. Just perfection

I didn't come off Cosmic Rewind thinking it was amazing. I thought it was good, but not great. I had no clue that people were seeing this as an elite coaster until the last few weeks. Maybe if I knew anything about Guardians of the Galaxy, I'd feel different. I rank it barely above Expedition Everest.
