Will AI takeover coder jobs? I think large portions of it will be automated; I can imagine a space where Square will literally code full custom websites for a client. But it can’t take over all…keep upskilling and continuing to learn and develop is the way to go imo. Until then AI is a great resource tool for developers. Lol it’s funny to see the Stackoverflow memes. Even this platform can and most likely will evolve with AI.
Definitely think it’s still important to learn coding because if your code doesn’t quite work the way you want it to and you need to debug it, it would help to have a fundamental understanding to figure out the problem. Even if chatgpt can help you debug, if you don’t know what you're coding, it’ll just be a black box to you that magically works.
100%! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! And also , it is important to understand the fundamentals so you can continue to evolve and grow your technical skills as AI grows too
And having used it as a new dev, I can tell you that you need to know some coding to even begin to know what to tell it to do. A small business owner can’t just tell ChatGPT "Build me a full stack app for my restaurant" and expect the AI to spit out a production ready app. They’ll still need a developer to get the app ready for production.
AI is going to replace coders. I advise everyone to move away from tech degrees they are useless now or will be well before you retire. We push all of these people into computer science and I never understood why. First they outsourced those jobs, then brought in H1B visa holders now they will automate them away.
Coding I believe is one of the few careers that you can get away just by being good at it without having good soft skills, AI will not replace developers at least in the foreseeable future, my two cents.
I am just now learning python and since I can’t afford a code camp and don’t have a mentor currently, I use chatgpt to not only show me where I’m messing up, but asking to show me a cleaner version and explain the differences. I basically use it to guide and teach me rather than to just do it for me 😅
@@strykeplaysmcjohnpickhypix1205 I ask how to use certain functions efficiently or how to simplify the code that I write. If I have an error, I provide the code and ask why it’s not working
Genuine question; how's that going? I recently read an article that supposedly ChatGPT's ability to correctly answer simple math problems dropped from 98% to 2% in a few moths. There are similar articles about it's ability to program and I recall reading quite a few years ago the seeming paradox that at some point more data makes predictive algorithms (like chatGPT) more uncertain.
I think you make an especially salient point when you say that coding will still be valuable simply to demonstrate that you understand what it is and how it works, that makes complete sense to me. In my opinion moving forward foreign language skills will be increasingly in demand in tech as the nature of some jobs evolve toward logistics and organization, requiring more frequent communication. Excellent content as always!
When I learn to program, I start with the best-known languages such as Python and if it is recommended because the coding must be structured. Thanks Tiff for sharing.✌
Hi Tiff! I'm learning to code right now, but I'm in my last semester of college for a social science and a psychology degree. After being a dual major, I can't do college more right now. I'm learning from free or inexpensive resources right now, and considering college again in the future if I find it to be necessary. I've been so discouraged, especially hearing so many people talking about how it's impossible to break into the market without a CS degree or something similar. This gave me a bit of hope that my skills from the degrees I'm already finishing will give me a small push when breaking into the tech industry. I have SOO much to learn still, but I feel a bit better now. Thank you!
Great video Tiff! I do have to say 2023 is weird so far, but being an experienced developer, using tools like GPT makes my job so fun. I've been using GPT for debugging issues and it's brilliant. Although it may replace me in 5 years or so, IT and engineering will evolve and other skills will be needed, and I love what you said about coding will be another tool in your toolbelt.
I dont think chatgpt will replace you in 5 years .Remember they are made by developer like you.Dont tell me we will replace God the creator we are created by Him.Just ask chatgpt if he will replace you and youll be suprised.
Great video thanks tiff! I love this. Coding is an important skill to learn for humans. Technology is always evolving and exciting to learn new things! As tiff said not just coding skills but dealing with people are also important skills. Keep learning and growing!
This is a pivot point. Now, rather than learning to code we need to learn how to present the instruction to the Ai to generate the output we want. But I still want to learn Python.
If I was just getting started and wanted to get a computer job, i would study Networking/TCP/IP and Windows Administration. Or Networking/TCP/IP and Linux Administration. There is always jobs there. Learn a little coding to do Windows PowerShell scripts, or Linux bash scripts. Then you'll have a life with nights out and family on weekends. Computer security jobs are the current fad, but you'll quietly go mad trying to keep up with field. Do computer security if you got to, but it's a tough one. It's like saying, "I'm gonna be a brain surgeon."
Thank you for the great advice on building up your human skills. That is something I need to work on. I think AI will take the tedium out of coding, and make it easier and more accessible, but a fundamental understanding of coding will always be needed.

Well, I would rather hire someone asocial with brilliant coding skills than someone with average social and coding skills. It feels very hard at first but it gets easier over time. Your learning style may also be different. I find that reading articles and books works better for me sometimes than watching videos. I think it is good to combine a variety of sources. Just one book, article, or video is usually not enough.

I might be totally wrong, but my understanding is, the tools like CHatGPT are not really AIs that do understand how to code. They are language models, they sort of repeat what they have been fed with in respect to propabilities. That means, they will never invent something new. I have the fear, our knowledge about code and everything else will kind of deteriorate because of a form of information entropy when no humans code or write texts, because then the AIs will begin to repeat what other AIs have written, and so forth. Knowledge will decline for sure.
I am happy with coding, I love coding. Especially when performing a penetration test, it helps to write a quick script to gain access in vulnerability testing 🙂.
Thankyou, Tiff. Really enjoyed your thoughts on the value of coding and other skills to have. Btw, if you were to learn Front-end dev today, what would be your path? Would you still spend a lot of time learning JavaScript or would you move quickly towards learning JS libraries/frameworks such as Reactjs or Angular? Would be glad to hear you on this. :)
Hey tiff , thanks for your video . well , after i heard and saw what chatGPT does , i was thinking "hey , it gonna do better than all of us . maybe in 5 years". im not a senior dev , i just started like months ago , learning REACT . but i was thinking that maybe i should learn something more creative . as u said , something like more human skills . something that AI is least expected to do , like Digital Drawing . or maybe try to learn how to write codes for AI . i generally like coding and the logic going on there , but before all this ChatGPT thing , i already felt like i am not doing any CREATIVE thing . like im just following a procedure to get to some results . thats why i also wonder is being a developer is even an appropriate career for me or not . So .. umm ... what do u think ? should i go for more creative careers like i mentioned ? what would be the best way to do it ? Thank you for your time , im glad that you exist , somewhere on the planet xD
Well, I think AI software like chat GPT is built upon what it has learned based on historical data. Coding skills are still important as there will always be new types of problems for which a new solution is required. AI can act as a tool to assist developers and coders to solve problems as long as it has that Artificial Knowledge built into them.
I am 16 years developer and 10 years ago some guys said to me that coding is dead :-) And now I am still in demand working on fun and great projects learning new things... coding, designing, testing, documenting, colaborating, teaching juniors... and it's still fun for me. Coding for me is like playing with Lego 🙂
hey tiff recently discovered your channel and its amazing i just finished high school have a great passion for coding with ai stuff any tech tip for me
Tbh, ofc I wanna have IT jobs and change my career now from administrative role in my office. It's soo boring as hell. But the main point is I can't leave coding cause I love it. Despite I will get job or not, I will still learning.
Hello, I am majoring in computer science and software engineering master degree but I am terrible at coding. What career path would suit me the best where coding is less needed? For instance: is data analyst, network engineering... would fit?
I can imagine that e.g. everyone is gonna use AI to code in the future and if something needs to be changed then they will need someone who actually understands the code :D
The part that I am more concerned about is the time most of us spent time in school. Is school gonna go away? Seems not although their material is outdated for more than a couple of centuries. So, really whether AI is gonna take over or not, I think learning to code is still an important life skill to have.
I would think that the sorts of coders that are going to be most in demand in the near future would be people who have some background knowledge in algo development & some knowledge in the higher mathematics required to develop quantum information network logic and qCalc information processing/boot level embedded hardware encoding & comm apps for bleeding edge stuff. I agree with you in that AI needs to be integrated in most people's lives in some way, programmer or not.
it's still important to code, especially when you are addicted like me there is no stopping. And yeah, chat GTP can do things better but the fact that you can't do smth and it can is so sad at one hand. So is never a bad idea to keep learning :) :P
Business logic will always be the foundation of software products. This requires specific knowledge of the codebase and I don't see AI being effective at that any time soon. For example, most of a companies products are built on the back of a primary internal API or set of APIs. If they need to add a feature specific to customer needs or squash a bug, the code written is not going to be generic, boilerplate code. To effectively use AI to replace developers, it would require that companies design their products and internal APIs in a way that is generic and can be as boilerplate as possible. Rewrite of legacy APIs is not feasible in most cases.
Coding today feels like cheating to me. So much is done for you and so much can be done in a short time thanks to all the libraries, frameworks and modern languages like Python and C#/Java (yes, those). You are standing on the shoulders of giants today. Enjoy it. Build. Create. I am coming from an era of Pascal, BASIC, Assembly, C in the 90s.
Today I was struggling to create I simple to do app with react that I have created before watching I tutorial it and I come to understand that I have big algorithm problem so I get back to learn basic JavaScript, it feels bad that I have to go back to this while I've been learning for more than a year.
When you are talking about these other skills what are those skills being applied to? All I kind of got from this is don’t be a coding, unrelatable robot, but why? What do you suggest that I utilize these skills for? Asking for a friend 😅
I am from non technical background and i am starting to learn python programming language from udemy and i am planning to move in to Ai Ml once i will properly learn python
Do we still have to learn to code in 2023? I hope so, if not, I just embarked on a training course to become a full stack developer (specialization in mobile development) for nothing! 😅
Totally agree with you 👍 Most of the time when people use AI to code they don't fully understand 🙄 the code, but if they studied the code intricately it's actually better.
AI won’t take over. We still need maintainers. At the most QA jobs and Tester jobs will become more prevalent, while programming and software engineering jobs dealing with precise systems will be the ones that remain majority hands on.
I’m a 7 year software developer veteran. I’ve seen Data Scientist get fired and from rows in e-commerce space . Software will always be on demand and is like you said , Ai will be use for smaller things .
The real dilemma is how to write a compliment on you being beautiful software developer without sounding like sexist. :-D You are also very clever, though.
Great topic always such knowledgeable content. Just a question please. I don't have a university degree Just my high school certificate. I really would love to become a coder, where do I start and how do I learn. If I don't have a diploma in coding do you think companies will still hire me. Love your content

I’m new to tech. Starting a manual QA course but torn between learning a language. Python, SQL, or Selenium
Let's talk👆
Do SQL and python. They complement each other well
I might be totally wrong, but my understanding is, the tools like CHatGPT are not really AIs that do understand how to code.
I'm considering a start-up, focusing on inspiring the next generation
Thank you for the video, Tiff. Folks: Get that CS Degree NOW.
Congrats! Let's talk👆
skill stacking! Roger!
you got this!!!
Absolutely learn!
Conclusion is that we should focus on our path......coders will always be in demand
Well, I think AI software like chat GPT is built upon what it has learned based on historical data. Coding skills are still important as there will always be new types of problems for which a new solution is required. AI can act as a tool to assist developers and coders to solve problems as long as it has that Artificial Knowledge built into them.
Thanks tip, needed to hear that😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the inspirational atmosphere I’m stating to following you 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Love your attitude. I'm starting out so it really lessens the blow of all the tough times learning about all the technologies.
@@investidoresdamadrugada28 No. You can try it, but don't be dissapointed if you will not achieve it.
Can you suggest any good python course?
@@investidoresdamadrugada28 is it beginners friendly? Like i have no prior experience 😅
@@investidoresdamadrugada28 you still code?
Thanks for sharing this info 👍🏾 helped my anxiety this morning
hey tiff recently discovered your channel and its amazing i just finished high school have a great passion for coding with ai stuff any tech tip for me
Tbh, ofc I wanna have IT jobs and change my career now from administrative role in my office. It's soo boring as hell. But the main point is I can't leave coding cause I love it. Despite I will get job or not, I will still learning.
timely video when ChatGPT is trending.
Thanks Tiffany! xoxo
Hello, I am majoring in computer science and software engineering master degree but I am terrible at coding. What career path would suit me the best where coding is less needed? For instance: is data analyst, network engineering... would fit?
Could you do a video going over some jobs that highlight what you’re saying? IE: coding w/ other skills. Like how you are a developer advocate 😊
I can imagine that e.g. everyone is gonna use AI to code in the future and if something needs to be changed then they will need someone who actually understands the code :D
Thank you Tiffany
You are so welcome!
Do you guys remember for PHOTOGRAPHERS or music CDs and live music players...?
Sooo.. What about frontend? is Frontend still going to be in demand or is it only your very technical backend roles that will stay?
Great videos! Very cool! THANK YOU!
Does it mean its still worth it to learn python?
I’m not to worried but I so enjoy your show! When someone says that I’m not the material for this, because I’m a woman, you bring me light! ❤
Do you think we should change our way of programming to adapt to this new technogies??
👆👆
My motivation sucks I can't stick to a course but I have to try
Great content always here 🚀💯👨🏻💻🇨🇷👌
Thank you Tiff
You are so welcome!
Coding today feels like cheating to me. So much is done for you and so much can be done in a short time thanks to all the libraries, frameworks and modern languages like Python and C#/Java (yes, those). You are standing on the shoulders of giants today. Enjoy it. Build. Create. I am coming from an era of Pascal, BASIC, Assembly, C in the 90s.
with that heavily experience what you think about developing near future?
On point
"Something we should all learn": YES ! Like writing and cooking.
forsure!!!!
I would like to learn C++, i found a book with c++11 , should I look for a newer one or that one its ok.
Coding is a hard_ to_ learn and rare _among_people skill so it will be always in demand.
Do we still have to learn to code in 2023? I hope so, if not, I just embarked on a training course to become a full stack developer (specialization in mobile development) for nothing! 😅
I was about to start but chatgpt again changed my mood😂
Is coding still an industry once learned you'll obtain a remote job with relative ease?
I have all the skills: giving orders, refusing to admit my wrongs, very impatient, and enslaving others to bring me my coffee exactly has i want.
😅😅😅
Totally agree with you 👍 Most of the time when people use AI to code they don't fully understand 🙄 the code, but if they studied the code intricately it's actually better.
AI won’t take over. We still need maintainers. At the most QA jobs and Tester jobs will become more prevalent, while programming and software engineering jobs dealing with precise systems will be the ones that remain majority hands on.
I’m a 7 year software developer veteran.
I’ve seen Data Scientist get fired and from rows in e-commerce space .
Software will always be on demand and is like you said , Ai will be use for smaller things .
Is it worth it to learn python this year?
The real dilemma is how to write a compliment on you being beautiful software developer without sounding like sexist. :-D You are also very clever, though.
Great topic always such knowledgeable content.
Just a question please.
I don't have a university degree Just my high school certificate.
I really would love to become a coder, where do I start and how do I learn.
If I don't have a diploma in coding do you think companies will still hire me.
Love your content
They’ll still hire you if you can learn coding. Build projects and make a portfolio. They won’t care about your degree if you can do the job
Iam still learning beib... By the way . I graduated from English department. I am still learning coding beib
Got somethings for you👆
People made predictions in the 1940s that audio and video media would completely replace the need to read/write. For some this may be true.
Tiff is so gorgeous 😍
Thank you!
I think coding is important because coding can solve many problem in our life.
100%! So many different areas you can apply it and the logical skills it gives you
@@TiffInTech thank you dear!
I keep brush my skill.
Later!
Just noticed first viewer again!!🥳
yay!! Happy you are here!!
Is it still worth learning html css?
im all for working smarter, not harder. if AI just so happens to take over the coding space, i dont see an issue with it.
Learn how to be efficient using AI tools like ChatGPT, and then learn how to take effective decisions. Becoming a coder is fine, but being a problem solver is better.
I'm sure people. Will come up with there own type of new coding 😄😸
Clear.
Yay!
