I have been using this exact tee for a very long time and the main benefit for me ist that it does not change at all after washing it will not change its form and it will also not need to ironed. iam generally very happy with the Uniqlo airism
I can attest to this because my Airism pants which is 2 yrs+ is still at good condition even with the constant use of washing machine, no loose threads or whatsoever, just the white label becomes unreadable so I cant find the exact model. I was trying to find the exact model to buy but they said it was phased out.
New subscriber here, I'm not in the industry, but am a consumer trying to cut through the marketing to better evaluate high from low quality fabric and sewing. Selfishly, I would love videos comparing what you view as higher quality items at different price points (high end, medium, and value-end) for basic item (e.g., tees, crew neck sweaters, etc.)

Hey Nigel, appreciate the the compliment! Shift is here to spread the knowledge around for consumers and brand owners alike for them to know more about the garments they buy/create😊. If you have questions about fashion, manufacturing, and brand building let us know!
I've been wearing Uniqlo garments for over 10 years now, and apart from certain thematic or tie-in products to other IPs (Marvel, Japanese anime etc.) Uniqlo is mostly what I wear now, even the undergarments. The simplicity, longevity and quality for the price just can't be beat. And I live in Asia, too.
I like Uniqlo but am tired of their same old color variety. I bought some dresses this past summer that I did not notice were made of recycled polyester. The fabric felt like soft plastic.
The uniqlo arism tees are fantastic and they always go on sale anywhere from $9.90 to $14.90. They are my essentials brand of choice justbecause of the affordability and comfort.
Not going to lie, I just got back from Japan that was 92F with over 85% humidity for 2 weeks and the airism tanktops were a game changer. I sweat like a pig the entire time and the tanks were able to take in sweat, dry off, and repeat that several times in one day. The next day, they didn't smell at all and still felt "clean". Of course if I could, I would only wear it for one day before cleaning, but if I had to, I could wear it 2-3 days with no issues.
tbh i don't really care for airism cotton but their airism innershirts are truly one of the best invention ever and they keep improving the sizing which can either be good or bad depending on what u feel about it when you first wear it

As a hobby sewist this video is such a gem! Im always interested in garment construction. I love how i understand the sewing related jargon, but i learned some new things i can apply to my own makes as well! So glad to have found this channel!
Your knowledge is what makes these videos so great. I am a sewist so the attention to detail (or lack thereof!) drives me bonkers! I feel for consumers who don’t understand clothing construction because they are being cheated of a value for money garment.
I'm just impressed by the passion for the knowledge of this industry. I never give any of these things a second thought and here you are speaking about wiking, hydrophobic, oleophilic, cover stitching etc.. on a t-shirt. Never thought this much work and thought went into such a product.
This is a crazy good breakdown of the T-shirt, please keep the level of detail! Super appreciated. Only feedback would be perhaps to include some supplementary links to industry terms (yarn, filament, immobilizer, cover stitch) so newcomers can do their own reading to catch up to what you're saying. The short explanation box helps but can feel a little insufficient sometimes Still a 10/10 video though. Subscribed!!!
i have one airism basic exactly in the video. In tropic country i find that this is indeed absorb moisture especially when the weather is hot, yes i'm still sweating but it not makes me uncomfortable.
Well I know whose channel I will by hyper-fixating on for the foreseeable future! Seriously some of my favorite content I’ve seen. Glad I found y’all 🙏🏻
I love to see you do one of the Yeezy Gap pieces. I have a few, the hoodies and bottoms from the mainline are all double layered and to me feel very good quality for their price point. There’s also a lot of places online you can pick it up cheap at the moment…
I appreciate this. I know that the Uniqlo founder has built his own little mythology around being obsessive with details and quality for cost. They're the definition of mass production so it's cool to see that in spite of the massive volumes coming from - presumably - multiple vendors they're still on top of their QC.
I'm so glad that I found your channel. Going to start a clothing business with zero knowledge and this helps me a lot. Thank god you created this type of educational content.
I love this kind of shirt from Uniqlo, and your explanation of the material and how it was put together explains the comfort of this shirt. I play volleyball, so I wear polyester jerseys, and to me they are very comfy, and I get that similar feel when wearing this shirt.
No joke - I have been looking for this exact type of video to help cut through the bs when buying clothes. I have started buying Uniqlo recently because I felt like it was decent quality for the price and I am glad to see those feeling assured with facts. Please keep up this sort of content but I would also love to know in your expert opinion how much this T-shirt would have cost them to make as well. Thanks!
I am totally impressed by this podcast. It’s eye opening! Thank you for sharing. May you be happy, may you be well, may you be safe, may you be peaceful and live with ease. 🙏 Namaste!
You mention the importance of washing this correctly the avoid smell - do you have any videos that cover how to wash clothes correctly? Things like temperature, wash cycle duration, detergents, etc… There are so many variables, I’m lost 😅
Usually they are mentioned on the cloth itself. At the bottom, left corner. Most of the clothes that I buy suggest a max 30°C machine wash, no machine dry. Some brands suggest no drying under direct sunlight also for materials like Linen. The clothes stay fresh for a longer period if we follow the instructions in my experience ✌🏽
Great review brother. I'd love to see a breakdown of Private White VC. They're a brand out of Manchester England. They've been around since 1856. They claim that nothing is outsourced, everything is handmade. The advertise that their clothing is made of "only the finest yarns, the most luxurious cloths and the highest quality raw materials". I have a couple pieces from them, but I haven't really worn them often. I have a wool jacket from them that drapes off my body in a way that's hard to explain. It's perfect. I'd love to know what I'm paying for in terms of durability and quality of materials. Cheers
Hey Bob, Private White VC has definitely an interesting claim! Let's see if they can actually back it up, we will add it to the list😊. In terms of what you think, would you recommend this brand to other people? Also what garment in particular would you be interested in for us to review?
@@Shiftfashiongroup NICE! That's a great question. I would definitely recommend getting their pieces while they're on sale. The quality seems to be good, and they offer free "lifetime repairs." I have a moleskin bomber and a Wool jacket from them, both bought on a 70% off sale. I'm VERY happy with them at the price I paid, however I don't think I would have purchased them at full retail price of around $700 each. That's just my subjective opinion though. I think they're most known for their Wool Jackets/coats. So if I had to pick one thing to review, I'd say that's the best representation of their quality. However, they offer harringtons and other jackets in the $700 range, Overshirts in the $400 range, Hoodies/sweatshirts around $300, and Tees in the $100 range. All of which seem to be at least somewhat overpriced. I'm wondering if we're paying for the quality. or the name? Maybe somewhere in between? I have to imagine we're paying a premium for a "made in the UK" garment as well. Thanks
Great channel and content ! Hit subscribe as soon as i saw the intro. Always been interested in the materials before buying and their technical advantages. Some great buying advice coming from a tech standpoint. Thanks for sharing your wisdom :)
As someone who loves travel i'm always looking for something that's lightweight, dries well, and doesn't wrinkle (and of course doesn't break the bank). Uniqlo airism seems to have a good blend of that which is why I've bought so much of their stuff. That said I've seen so many ads for Unbound Merino for travel so I'm wanting to see if you could do a review on their tech/fabric. Of course it's Merino wool so the price is what has turned me off. Just wanting to see if it's worth that added cost.
I was like « is he taking apart my exact tee shirt ? » and yes ! I’m so amazed to see you explain how my favorite tee shirt of all time is made. I have 4 of these that I basically will put on any chance I have. Probably the garment that have had the most wear on me ever. Hundreds of wear and they stay in such good condition I love them !! Thanks for this amazing video ❤
New subscriber because this is a great video! I can actually see what you’re talking about because you really are taking it apart. Love the definition of terms box, I can pause the video and read in my own time to fully understand the term, but keeps the video at a digestible length. The break down of categories at the and is great, and love that the music is super low key, so many channels these days have music and hosts’ talking style that is way to distracting for me. They’re trying to create ‘more excitement’ I guess but I think your tone is just perfect!
Mine is made in Vietnam. Is there a difference in the ones made in Vietnam compared to Bangladesh. I would like to request you to take apart the Uniqlou Utility Short Blouson Jacket as well that’s pretty popular, and also the Abercrombie Popover Hoodie. Thanks
in humid climate/weather countries, it would be interesting if the fabric was reversed inside out (polyester on the outside, cotton on the inside). the cotton side would be able to absorb the sweat from the skin (as we tend to sweat more due to the hot weather) while the polyesther side would evaporate away the sweat and the wick away the moisture from the outside environment.
I basically bought all the colors of the Uniqlo Airism Polo Shirt, and they're really great. However, they are more fragile than the Dry Pique ones, which retain their shape and color better through wash cycles.
love this! I have almost all colors of this shirt. Its a low maintenance shirt for me. Comfortable to wear and it doesnt have to be ironed. But, heer in the Philippines, thats only 13.48$.
bought one of these, i hate it. your sweat gets absorbed by the shirt really fast, the problem is, the part of the shirt where there's sweat is very noticable. sweat marks can be seen all over the shirt.
It’s give me so much pleasure as a Bangladeshi to see "Made in Bangladesh" as per i know BANGLADESHI GARMENT PRODUCTS ARE highly praised in International Market. It's because of we have a large number of skilled people who make it with Love and care🇧🇩❤️
This is so helpful! One thing you haven't discussed is the fact that fast-fashion brands cut costs by making clothes with less fabric, which often results in clothes designed for shorter people. At one point several years ago, Uniqlo listed the height for a size S t-shirt as 5'2" on their website. I don't know if there is a way for you to capture that aspect in your reviews, but it would be very helpful for someone like me who is taller than average.
Thanks for doing one for Uniqlo AIRism, my favourite material by far. so much so I wonder what it is. Material is so soft and creamy and breathable, almost silk like
Just found and subscribed to your channel because how you explain the details is so informative and clear! Thank you for helping educate us further about the intricacies and technology behind garments and fabric! It's be interesting to see you delve into more from other athleisure brands like Vuori too! Awesome work.
This host is great, his ratings are fair enough to include both the consumer's side POV and the manufacturer's side POV. Brands like Uniqlo doesn't have it easy esp on "hype and street cred".
Love these styles of videos! Thank you for educating the consumers and not fearing going technical and in-depth! Please cover athleisure brands like Popflex (I'll watch your Lululemon one) and also SKIMS!
Good fabric. But after a few washes, color/texture gets bad. Had to make sure to use less soap and no fabcon. The polyester side tends to get damaged easily. I still love Uniqlo though. I bought a lot of this shirt. I have them in 10 diff colors.
Just watched this video, the Abercrombie video, and Reigning champ video. Would love to see a video on what brands or pieces have good construction and value
Hey RB, check out out Psycho Bunny video! It has a really good construction/workmanship rating, as well as a decent value. Here is the link to the video ruclips.net/video/VKpIJ-ykll8/видео.html
I'm just a minute in the video and had to stop to say I'm suscribing right now. I'm trying to be more sustainable in my wardrobe without breaking the bank and uniqlo's simplicity gives me such peace of mind. Everytime i used to go london, i would go to one of v the shops, and ger b lots of compliments when i wear their clothes. Now, they opened a shop in Edinburgh where i live, so I'm afraid it won't be my little secret anymore. Thank you for your dedication in your channel and if i could request a review, i would ask for community clothing. I'm very curious about them and their reasoning for exciting and would like to have something from them, but would like to know more before committing.
Very interesting. We have been buying inexpensive-ish uniqlo down jackets for years, while in Japan. Now that we are back in the US, the US online prices seem way higher than I remember.
Hi, I would like to see blank apparel brands on the list as well since companies and businesses use them. Would love your input on Lane Seven, Shakawear, LA Apparel hoodies and t-shirts.
@@Shiftfashiongroup I am a blank apparel manufacturer and importer myself. Plus I learn a lot from your show and i love to learn from your expertise and partly so that I can improve my products.
I lke uniqlo but I bought an airism dress and I sweat in it a lot more in it than I do in cotton. It was made really well but way to hot for a summer day.
Thank you very much for this video. It is very insightful. please, analyse also x-bionic fabric of how it is made and does it really work as claimed. Thanks
Banana Republic makes a 50$ CAD organic cotton tshirt that I find really soft, I would love to know what you think of it. They also have some "Lux Touch" polos that are super soft you may want to take a look at. I appreciate the knowledge and insight you shared in this video!
Would love to hear how the fabrics like elastine be compared to other fab in direct sunlights. Elastine seems common for golf clothes. What could be ideal percentage of cotton is good in clothes when in direct in sunlight for long run to discourage body odor or less creation of bacteria
I’d love to have your take on the brands at a midrange price point and above that are worth the spend. So for a man who wants to move up from Uniqlo, Arket, Cos, etc… where should I go to? Thanks, great video, love this sort of deep dive into the products we take for granted.
First time watching one of your videos. I found it very interesting and informative, but I’m kinda geeky with information that has nothing to do with my line of work, lol. I don’t own any Uniqlo products, but from what I’ve heard it’s a value with decent style, nice score on your rating I’d say. Thumbs up on the video.
Can you do women's Airism T-shirt next, the one that is more stretchy and softer to touch rather than cotton Airism? I think women's Airism has more variety than men's.
I love how each year the seasons are getting warmer so more companies are focusing on marketing words like sweatwicking and breathability. I feel bad for the outerwear and more winter focused brands as market seasons get smaller for winter.
thank you for the fantastic insight 😊 do you have a suggestion on how best to wash polyester clothes to get rid of smell snd stains? i frequently launder my clothes however I find using natural deodorant with baking soda or magnesium is harder to remove from the underarms. also please do clothes from MUJI. Thank youuuu
Just a minor thought here, it would be easier to see/highlight the details on the garment if you choose a light colour, such as white :) but, thanks for the content. I'm a fan of Airism, and now I know what makes it :D
Since you did this I really hope you'll cover Heat Tech since it's soon Winter Season around the northern hemisphere.

I think you should do this with all the brands and boom, your channel will explode !
Next up Gucci ?
Very chill video, thanks for the info/review. Dude, that’s music at the very end, sooo stress inducing, just me..?
Good fabric. But after a few washes, color/texture gets bad. Had to make sure to use less soap and no fabcon. The polyester side tends to get damaged easily. I still love Uniqlo though. I bought a lot of this shirt. I have them in 10 diff colors.
Please review Patagonia Capiline Cool Daily shirts. Love them for hot temperatures and they last many years.
Fascinating channel! I'm learning so much.
I love their HEATTECH technology tops❤
Whoa!! What is Semi synthetic cotton? Cupro? I will have to look that up. May be something like Viscose?
How much do you think it cost to make this shirt in Bangladesh 🇧🇩? You forgot to say it.
You clearly don’t understand value vs price, and intellectual property.
Ignore troll. He should have mentioned labor and material costs to justify his value score.
@@isabellawong8744 what the fug are you talking about?
He replied to another comment and said USD $4-5
2.5$
First time watching your channel. I’m impressed by your technical knowledge. Subscribed immediately.
I always buy these for my kids!!! ❤❤❤ They nalso made golf polos version, boxers ❤
Very interesting. We have been buying inexpensive-ish uniqlo down jackets for years, while in Japan. Now that we are back in the US, the US online prices seem way higher than I remember.
I’d love to see a breakdown of Ten Thousand brand shirts and/or pants. Great teardown!
Hi, I would like to see blank apparel brands on the list as well since companies and businesses use them. Would love your input on Lane Seven, Shakawear, LA Apparel hoodies and t-shirts.
Add house of blanks to that
+ AS Colour
+ Lady White Co.
We can certainly add this on the list! What makes you so interested in blank apparels? Are you thinking about starting your own fashion brand?

I am a blank apparel manufacturer and importer myself. Plus I learn a lot from your show and i love to learn from your expertise and partly so that I can improve my products.
Uniqlo U line is different from Uniqlo's Airism line. I have all their shirts - Uniqlo U, Supima, Airism.
Which one do you wear the most?
I lke uniqlo but I bought an airism dress and I sweat in it a lot more in it than I do in cotton. It was made really well but way to hot for a summer day.
I like Air-ism shorts. And also the Dry-ex T-shirts. It's very comfortable to wear
Thank you very much for this video. It is very insightful.
please, analyse also x-bionic fabric of how it is made and does it really work as claimed.
Thanks
The garment rose anvil
Wish they'd do a Collab.
Banana Republic makes a 50$ CAD organic cotton tshirt that I find really soft, I would love to know what you think of it. They also have some "Lux Touch" polos that are super soft you may want to take a look at. I appreciate the knowledge and insight you shared in this video!
Please do Carhartt. I think they make very good quality clothing. Would love to see you taking it apart.
do you plan to do a roundup video of the handful of best products at various price points?
Would love to hear how the fabrics like elastine be compared to other fab in direct sunlights. Elastine seems common for golf clothes. What could be ideal percentage of cotton is good in clothes when in direct in sunlight for long run to discourage body odor or less creation of bacteria
Can you make a video about a basic t-shirt from COS? They sell around €50 and the material seems to be of high quality
I’d love to have your take on the brands at a midrange price point and above that are worth the spend. So for a man who wants to move up from Uniqlo, Arket, Cos, etc… where should I go to? Thanks, great video, love this sort of deep dive into the products we take for granted.
How much does it cost to make? I might have missed that part of the video
I love Uniqlo. It's comfortable and gives old money vibes.
I m a fan of Airism clothes fr Uniqlo I use them as undershirts which peep at the collar/ neck for style
Cool effect on skin
Can you please do an analysis on Crew clothing, a british brand, good quality. thanks 🙏🏻
This was really interesting! I bought several of these oversized t shirts in white and they are already very yellow around the armpits and the neck
Can you do women's Airism T-shirt next, the one that is more stretchy and softer to touch rather than cotton Airism? I think women's Airism has more variety than men's.
This is perfectly explained and filmed 🙌🏼 Subscribed straight away! Very curious about Uniqlo's cashmere if you get a chance to dig into it.
UNIQLO and MUJI are my favorite Japanese brands 😊
Just saw this video and instantly subscribed. Very informative and cool. A video about some Acronym garment would be dope!
Thank youuuu
i thought this was a million sub channel? damn such high quality video 🎉🎉
Do a Real McCoys shirt, you can get them from Lost and Found in Toronto
Can you try on the product prior to explanation and deconstruction
We will be adding this in the future. We are currently building out our infinity wall in the development center
Just a minor thought here, it would be easier to see/highlight the details on the garment if you choose a light colour, such as white :) but, thanks for the content. I'm a fan of Airism, and now I know what makes it :D
I think Uniqlo makes the best fast fashion basics that you can get for their low price points
