      I really enjoy doing the qayg hexies. No stitching in papers only to pull them out again ☺️
      The needlelace here is quite simple... just really blanket stitch made onto itself... It makes for a lovely finish. The runner is actually on my dining table now...👍

    How lovely. A great way to do hexes. About 40 years ago I started a paper piecing Hexie quilt. Never finished it but have been considering using the pieces in another way. Some lovely material in it from scraps from sewing. Memories of clothing I had.

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  Год назад +3

      It's just the way I like to quilt. Using old clothes and all the memories attached to them. I know you can buy such amazing fabric these days. But they have amazing prices to match! And I just never could afford to buy them. So I went scrappy and quilted in the old sense of the way people used to do it. Using up old, worn out fabric, from wherever you could get it.

    Oh Marion your hexies are lovely. Easier than Japanese Folded Patchwork I did in a class a good 20 years ago! Admittedly the bags are so useful and been much admired over the years. I'm doing 1" hexies, 1.5" jewel shapes and others the old fashioned way but tacking and not using glue. I've never thought of doing a Needlelace edging. Fantastic. I've used ring sticks for making decorative circles and have an afficot and half acorns all made by a wood turner (I love Treen objects). Your videos are so inspiring thanks.

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  Год назад

      I'll have to look that up Jean. It's not something I've heard of before... How lovely to have a properly made afficot. I've been keeping my eye open for one for years when I go around the thrift shops or boot sales. Maybe I'll just have to make one for myself instead. I actually make wooden spoons, so it's not without the bounds of possibility.....

    My first quilt was a hexi, which I backed. I started a hexi quilt as you go but not tried the hexiform. I was going to buy precut hexies but I do have templates so I just cut them at leisure, as I'm just going to take my time with it. Nice to do a bit of hand stitching. I've done a mini dolls house size in the past. Fiddly. I agree it is a nice project to do.

      I actually made a couple of half hexies and attached them. I just didn't like the look of them at all I'm afraid. I don't know what anyone else does. I couldn't seem to find anyone doing anything in particular.

      Think you need to put a border around them if you use half hexagons, but your idea was brilliant, thanks. I have such a lot of unfinished hexagons that I need to do something with. I just love making them.

      That sounds lovely Linda. I must say that the hexies with the old bits of embroidery in them are my favourite ones in the runner. I'm almost finished the edging. It's taken me ages, but it will be worth it when I'm looking at it on my table.....

    I love EPP as well as QAYG hexies. There is something meditative about hand stitching. Happy belated birthday, you are a year younger than myself! Thank you for another great video, I find myself smiling when I watch you. Maybe it is because you get my creative juices flowing...

    You've got me hooked on hexagons after watching you stitch them on a previous video! I did mention your name and channel to the lovely people at Ashmead Designs during the Festival of Quilts where I had to buy some more hexagons of course! Your table runner looks amazing. I haven't decided what to make with mine yet. Best wishes and happy stitching as always.

    This is absolutely gorgeous! Do you make other projects with the hexagons? I’ve recently become in love with paper piecing- it’s so fun and relaxing!!! I have all these ideas of things I want to make! 🥰

    Marion, have you ever tried running your thread across a damp sponge to straighten a twisty thread? I've done this sometimes with cross stitch floss. I enjoyed watching this video, particularly the lacy edging. It looked like a lot of fun to do!

    Looking at this video, I finished my last hexie with the Laura Ashley fabric. I had to make 12 hexies more to make a round (hexicagon) table cloth about 25 inch I sew them together with a thicker thread, but I haven't enough. Must buy new thread, because "plum"is a difficult colour what I do not have in my own" little shop." 😁 I love your hexies with the embroderie vintage fabric. And the fabric of your new dress is so lovely.

      Thank you Marjan. I'll watch out for your post when you've finished sewing your hexies together...
      The dress fabric is lovely thank you. I bought it in Menorca last year after I was on a retreat there in May. I found a most lovely fabric shop and this is one of the fabrics I brought back home.
